Lavender and Linebackers is a contemporary sports romance about a rookie linebacker and a professional cheerleader, once childhood best friends and now enemies, who are forced to work together on a major marketing campaign despite a rule forbidding them from being together.

When fate forces time with the enemy . . . tackle it.

Ryder Monroe
Alice Monarch is my biggest regret. My childhood best friend turned enemy.

I knew there was a possibility I’d see her. I just never imagined it would be on day one of my rookie season as a linebacker for the Tampa Tarpons. I’m a football player. She’s a cheerleader. There’s a reason the handbook strictly forbids it.

What I never saw coming was the organization pairing us together for a major marketing campaign. Saying no isn’t an option. It’s in my contract that I’m required to say yes. Now I’m stuck with her for months, representing the Tarpons around town. I hate her, and she hates me.

The only problem? I can’t stop looking at her. She’s smart, kind, even more beautiful than I remember, and the more time I spend with her, the harder it becomes to understand why I let her go.

Alice Monarch
The rules are in place for a reason. Football players and cheerleaders are off-limits.

For years, I’ve compared every man I’ve ever met to Ryder Monroe. He was my first love, my best friend, and the one person I never imagined living without. Until he ruined us, left town, and ghosted me.

Now, years later, we’re being thrown back together. Okay, “forced” isn’t entirely accurate. I chose this because the Tarpons agreed to sponsor my youth cheer team, the Mighty Monarchs.

This team is my everything. I’d do anything for them. Even work side by side with the man who broke my heart. It doesn’t matter that Ryder still has the most irresistible smile I’ve ever seen or that he can still make my heart race. My career and sponsorship are on the line. The only problem? The more time I spend with him, the harder it becomes to remember why I swore I’d never forgive him.

*****5 Absolutely Incredible Slow Burn Stars*****

Lavender and Linebackers by Kathryn Andrews is one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. When I tell y’all this book completely swept me up and took my heart by storm, I mean that with every fiber of my being. Alice and Ryder and their second chance at at all with their incredible and undeniable connection gave me life in this book. That coupled with the incredible world of characters that this series brings, Kathryn Andrews, charming and beautiful writing, and a love that was years in the making made for the perfect romance from start to finish. This book is not only one of my favorite books. I’ve read this year, but it might just be one of my favorites from Kathryn Andrews. And that is a big thing to say because I have LOVED every single book I’ve read by this author, but this one is truly something special.

This book and the story I got with these characters completely blew me and my heart away. The emotion of it all, the tension of it all, the angst and yearning of it all, I was here for every breath of it. I could not help but be consumed into everything that Alice and Ryder shared together. Those two may have been ex besties and enemies, but they soon become SO much more in this book and I was LIVING for that more in every incredible word of this book. What Kathryn Andrews infuses into this book with her characters and their love story is something I will truly never forget.

I do not say it lightly when I say that this is one of my favorite books I have read from her and this year and honestly ever because that is how much I absolutely loved every second I got with Alice and Ryder and their unforgettable love story.

Lavender and Linebackers had it all. It had the ex best friends, enemies to lovers, grumpy, sunshine, goodness that bought alllll of the connection and fire between these two. It had a found family of characters that I have LOVED getting to fall in love with across every book of this world and series. It had the best force proximity and second chance romance vibes as Alice and Ryder were forced to be together again and face the world of feeling and hurt and longing that had blossomed and grown over the many years they’d known each other and been apart. It also had the forbidden romance goodness between a cheerleader and a football player that added just another incredible layer to this utterly consuming story.

This book follows Alice and Ryder who are at the precipice of living out their lifelong dreams and are forced back together again in a way neither of them expected.

You see the two of them used to be best friends, and honestly, there was definitely some more happening between them. But things happened and their friendship broke apart, and they haven’t seen or talked to each other in years. And in those years, a lot of hurt and emotion took root, but these two kept working their butts off to make their life long dreams come true. But on their very first days in their dream careers as a professional football player and professional cheerleader, they are brought face-to-face again and told that they will soon be spending the next months very close together. You see their new football team knows that they used to be inseparable and decide to use that as their new marketing campaign, so these two who currently can’t stand to be around each other, soon realize they will be spending a lot of time together.

The sparks are flying, all of the buttons are about to be pushed, and these two are bound and determined to get under each other’s skin because of the way they make each other feel and what they bring out in one another. They are also both determined to keep some very strong walls and boundaries between them because they can’t let themselves and their hearts feel the world of emotion and feeling they are trying to feel. But the more time these two are together, and the more they learn about the lives they’ve led while apart and see each other in the truth and vulnerability of who they really are, the more they both realize that they not only have to figure out what went so terribly wrong in their past, but also what they could both do to see a future together.

Their hearts and futures are both on the line, their past is a bit of a mystery that needs to be pieced together, and their present is a glorious slow burning culmination of connection, fire, questions, vulnerability, and more emotion than you can shake a stick at….and honestly, that’s just scratching the surface of what you get and this phenomenal romance with Alice and Ryder.

Suffice to say, I loved every aspect of this book and every bit of what this story brought to life between this couple. I was here for the slow burn of it all. I was utterly consumed within every bit of their incredible and unadulterated connection that built and built fiercely over the course of the story. But most of all I was just completely invested in every second and emotion and breath of what Alice and Ryder share together. Those two have a world of history and this book and it’s events force them to come face-to-face and heart to heart with it all. The tension between them, the level of fire that is so fierce between them, and the pull that just keeps bringing them back together again in every way that matters is just part of what you get in their phenomenal story.

From the very first moment, I started the prologue of this book, I immediately fell in love with Alice and Ryder. I loved what they brought out in one another, I loved what they made each other question and feel, but most of all I love that they just clearly imprinted on each other’s hearts and souls in every way that mattered. In a way that changed everything for the two of them. And even if it took them years and so many moments of hurt and longing and emotion to figure out what that looks like and what it all meant, it was there and it was true and it was real, and so so beautiful. It was them. And getting to see and experience that with them of the course of this book just pulled my heart to theirs fiercely.

Alice is a true gem of a character. I mean, she is goodness and sunshine personified. Not only is she an incredible cheerleader, but she is just a genuinely good person. She owns a nonprofit, she cares deeply, and she wants to bring so much good to those around her. She is truly a light and that shines through every moment you get with her. You can’t help but smile and just be happy in her presence, and it is impossible not to love her. She truly has such a heart of gold, and I loved getting to see her celebrate that and getting to see those around her bask in it. She also gives it her all in every way that matters and that shines across this book and the moments you get with her.

Not only do you get all of those incredible moments where her light, beauty, and true magic shines in this book, but you also get moments with her where she is so real and vulnerable and honest with what she felt. She has experienced a lot over the years that her and Ryder were apart, and this book brings all of that back up to the surface for both of them. It forces hard conversations, it pushes for explanations, and it breaks down the many walls that both Alice and Ryder have built around their hearts. But what I loved about Alice is that she was so true to herself through all of that, and still pushed herself and Ryder out into the open with everything they felt, even when it wasn’t easy. And through it all she was still there with her heart of gold that felt everything, and that believed in all of the beauty possibilities that could be. I just absolutely loved that about her and just loved getting to spend time with her character. She felt like one of my besties and I could have spent a million more moments with her.

Now Ryder was his own gem of a character. That man definitely puts the grump and grump, but he also has his own heart of gold. He has so many feelings that are buried behind the fortress of walls he has built around his heart to protect himself. But even through the bricks of that wall that he’s so carefully built over the years, you see that he is such a genuinely good guy. You see that he cares, you see that there is so much connection to be had, and you see that he cares about those around him with his whole heart. You also see that that world of feeling for Alice never ever went away, even though he tried to pretend it did. And the more that that man tries to push against and fight against what is right in front of his face and heart, the more he soon realizes that this is a losing battle and one that he might actually not want to win.

What I loved about Ryder’s character was that I just felt so pulled to him. I felt pulled to his heart and his emotional journey. I felt pulled to his dreams that he was right on the precipice of. I felt pulled to his vulnerable side that was right there at the surface, especially when Alice was around. I felt pulled to the pieces of his past that helped me understand so much of what made him who he was in the present tense of this book. I just felt so pulled into everything that I got with his character because I understood every bit of where it came from through what this author created with him. I just loved that grumpy man so much not only because he was such a genuinely good man with such a sweetheart under that grumpy surface, but mostly because the true depth of his feelings were right there all along. And when they’re brought to the light and the surface, it is nothing short of everything. In fact, it’s utterly breathtaking with what you experience with him and Alice.

Trust me on that.

Let me tell you that the more pieces you get of Alice and Ryder and their story will have you knowing that these two have to find a way back to one another. There is something just so truly right and special and meant to be about those two that you feel in your bones reading this book and that pulls you through every breath of this story with them. It not only shows you that they have to be together because there can be no reality without these two basking in the world of feeling and love that they so clearly share for one another, but also because there’s just no world in which they’re not endgame together. It is those truths that pull you through everything these characters go through because you feel it in your soul through every breath of this incredible book that Alice and Ryder have to find that happily ever after because they are meant to be and find each other in every lifetime.

Those two are just beyond meant to be for each other, and even in the moments where they push each other‘s buttons and drive each other crazy and make each other question everything, they also know that there is no denying the world of connection and love and history between them. Getting to be with them in this book as they put all the pieces back together again, as they find their way back to what once was, and as they weave together their own presents for the possibility of building an incredibly beautiful future together is absolutely EVERYTHING.

Through every single incredible word of this book that Kathryn Andrews brings to life with this couple, you feel it so deep in your heart that these two have to find a way back to one another. And getting to be with them as they do just that, as they put the pieces of the past together, as they spend more and more time in the present realizing the truth of their feelings has always been right in front of them, and as they both look towards the future they had long stopped hoping for, but finally have a chance at again, is truly nothing short of everything. It’s honestly more than that because you feel so emotionally connected and invested to the two of them, what they make each other feel, and what they share together. The magic and the fire and the vibrancy of it all is truly unforgettable and incredible to experience, and it pulls every piece of your heart into the story with this couple.

Trust me when I say there is truly no resisting the heart of it all with Alice and Ryder, and when it all comes to be for them, you will be living and loving and experiencing every breath of it in a way that will truly give you it all. And just prepare yourself now for the feels of it all because it will not only give you everything to experience what you do with the two of them and the slow burn buildup of what they share, but getting to be there in the moment when it all changes for them will truly take your breath away. And then some. It will definitely bring some tears to your eyes because it is truly one of the most beautiful moments I have ever read in a romance book, and it honestly blew my heart and soul away to see what these characters truly felt for one another.

Getting to feel so connected to these two just made for a hell of a love story that I know I will never forget. Kathryn Andrews put you in the heart of this story with Alice and Ryder and her beautiful writing allows you to feel it all with them. But more than that, it just allows you to experience every bit of connection and love and yearning between them while also experiencing the best found family of characters that you could ask for.

This world is one that I will never tie of and getting to be with all of these characters, being a part of this incredible football team, and just getting to see all of these players find their perfect match has been the reading experience of a lifetime. I honestly can’t say that enough. Getting to be with all of them in every new book of this world and getting to experience the incredible connection they all share is truly the best thing to feel. It just pulls your heart even more fiercely to all of these characters you know and love, knowing that they are there for each other through thick and thin. This found family is truly something special, and you feel that in every breath of this book with these characters, in every single one of their interactions, in the group text chats, in the “you’ve been caught” moments, and in every moment where they push each other to be the best versions of themselves. I am already counting down the days until I can be back with this incredible world of characters because they truly are family to each other and to you as the reader, as you experience every single fantastic moment with them.

Lavender and Linebackers is Kathryn Andrews at her best. This book is just the epitome of the perfect romance. It has so much connection, so much heart and emotion, but most of all it has a couple that you love and believe in with your whole heart. It has a love story that puts you and these characters through the ringer a bit, but you honestly love and treasure every second of it because you just get to experience everything with these characters as they find their way back to one another. They may start off as best friends, who then become enemies, who then become reluctant coworkers, who then become so much more, but through it all, you know that they are soulmates and meant to be, and that their hearts and they’re true selves will see themselves through it all.

Getting to live an experience every second of this book with Alice and Ryder will definitely not only have you loving the two of them fiercely, and believing in every possibility their second chance brings them, but it will also just have you knowing that there is no ending that exists without the two of them together because it has always just been the two of them. In the past, in the present, and in all the futures they can imagine, it’s always the two of them, and it always will be because they are beyond meant to be. Their love, their undeniable level of connection, and what they make each other feel and believe in and hope for will truly see you through every second of this book with the two of them. And it will have you knowing that their unforgettable and hard fought love can see those two through every piece of their past to create an utterly beautiful future together.

I truly could go on and on about how amazing this book was and how much I loved this couple, but I honestly wouldn’t even come close to capturing what it was like to experience their love story. Their love and what these two give each other will truly steal every piece of your heart, and you will gladly give it to Alice and Ryder because these two may fight like hell and push each other‘s buttons, but they also feel everything for each other and are there when it truly matters. Getting to see these two find their way back to one another is truly nothing short of everything and Kathryn Andrews allows you to experience the beauty and the magic and the yearning of it all in a way you’ll never forget. Trust me on that.

Lavender and Linebackers delivers one of the most consuming, effervescent, and unforgettable romances that I have read this year and honestly ever, and I for one cannot tell you enough how much you NEED this book in your life. Alice and Ryder will show you every piece of their hearts in this book, and you will take all of them and will honestly bask in what it allows you to experience with them as those pieces come together in their love story. The heart of it all, the fire and connection of it all, the beautiful vulnerability and emotion, and the truth and light and sparkle that shines in every moment they are together will have you knowing that these two have to find a way to repair their broken hearts because they are the most deserving of a happily ever after…together. As they were always meant to be.

Kathryn Andrews delivers the most incredible romance in this book with this couple so just trust me when I say that you NEED this book in your life as soon as humanly possible. You will love getting to experience every breath of what you do with Alice and Ryder and getting to be a part of this incredible found family of characters that you will immediately want more of. When fate delivers a roommate . . . don’t block it.

Tyler Quinn

There is a beautiful woman unexpectedly living in my house. A woman I sort of know because she’s my best friend’s little sister. Although, she’s definitely not so little anymore.

My entire professional career, I’ve been the starting tight end for the Tampa Tarpons. Life as a football player keeps me in the spotlight, when my preference is the dark. Through unfortunate past experiences, I guard my privacy and don’t do roommates, ever. But when my best friend calls and says he needs a favor, I don’t say no. Although I wish I had. Now she’s here, with her gorgeous turquoise eyes, big trusting smile, and taking up my spot on my couch. I’ve established the rules for how this is going to go, but as time passes and she opens up, I find it’s becoming harder and harder not to break them.

Lily Kent

If I know one thing for certain, I’m never dating another football player again.

After walking away from a very long and expired relationship, I needed a place to stay to plan out my life. My new life. I can work anywhere, so when my brother suggests crashing with his best friend Tyler, I say,”Yes.” Who doesn’t love palm trees, sunshine, and an attractive roommate? Tyler is the definition of tall, dark, and handsome, but the best part is he’s also kind. He makes me feel grounded when everything else feels upside down. He makes me feel things I wasn’t expecting. I know I said no more athletes, but in those moments when his hand grazes my back or when he makes me laugh, I wonder about my plans. Maybe I should change them, maybe we should, after all, fate did lead me to his door.

***** 5 ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE STARS*****

I have been reading and loving books by Kathryn Andrews for over a decade now, and I cannot say enough how much I love her books. She always encapsulates incredible characters, heart touching stories, so much feeling and emotion and connection, along with so many other layers that truly set her world and her books apart. I have loved every book by this author. I have been addicted to her words for quite some time now and I don’t ever see that changing. And I wouldn’t want it to change because this author just has such a way of developing you with everything you get with her characters and it is truly the best.

Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends is an absolutely incredible addition to the Tampa Tarpon Series that Kathryn Andrews has so vividly and incredibly created. I love this world. I love the world of this football team, I love the found family vibes this entire series gives off, but more than that I just love that this world connects so many of the books and characters that I’ve loved by this author into a place where they can play an incredible game on and off the field, while feeling everything, and falling in love with their soulmates. I truly love this series and can’t get enough. Every moment with these characters just makes my heart happy and makes me smile so beyond bag.

And getting this story with Tyler and Lily was absolutely everything.

Tyler and Lily have the most undeniable connection that was tangible through every second of their story. Those two were meant to be. Even when they fought against their feelings, even when that slow burn was slow burning, they felt it. It was there. It was real. And it threatened to pull them under in the best way. I love getting to be there with the two of them as they reconnected, as they embraced what they were feeling, and as they allowed those scales to tip and finally give into everything that could be. There is something so inherently right about the two of them that you feel from the moment you meet them. Something so real and true and their connection, and the way that these two show that and create that and allow you to experience that with them over the course of this book is utterly incredible.

From the moment I started this book, I could not get enough of everything between Tyler and Lily. Those two are the definition of friends who become so much more. Tyler is Lily‘s brother‘s best friend and she has always had a thing for him. Fresh off of her own break up she needs time to regroup. And with one phone call that brings her to Tyler, someone she hasn’t seen in quite some time. These two definitely get off to a bit of a rocky and awkward start, but it’s only because there is so much there between them. And the more that these two settle into being roommates and friends and something so much more, the more that their hearts come right to the line with them as they fall so truly, and deeply for one another.

Kathryn Andrews and her amazing writing put you right in the thick of it with these two and you will love it. That is one of the many qualities I love about how this author writes her books. She just invests you in her characters, and each of their own journeys, and in the romance, they built together. She puts you right in the thick of it with them on the pages of her book and you’re able to live and breathe and feel every bit of what these characters do. It just puts you in the heart of the story in the best way, and it has you needing for the two of them to find their way. I felt that from the very first moment I met Tyler and Lily and I just loved these two getting to show that their friendship was so much more.

Lily was the female heroine of my dreams. Not only is she a secret romance, author, but she just has a genuine heart of gold. She is someone just trying to reevaluate her life, make a new plan, and figure out what she needs to do next. I really resonated with that and her while reading this book. And I also just loved how genuinely good of a heart and person she was. That girl feels with her whole heart and she is just so good. But more than that, she just wants to find her place and find the place where she can be celebrated with those who aren’t afraid to celebrate and love her loudly. I loved getting to go along with this journey in this book while she figured out what came next, well also finding the person who was ready to give her everything she deserved and more.

Tyler was a man who I loved from the very first moment I met him. I loved getting to peel back the layers of what made him the guy that he was. He is funny and genuine, and has a heart of gold himself, but he also has been through it. You get to understand that and you get to understand why there are certain walls that he’s put up. I loved over the course of this book that not only did Lily help chip away at those walls, but she helped Tyler realize that he didn’t really want those walls in the first place, as he also took them down himself. I loved getting to be with Tyler as he felt what he did, as he fought with his whole heart for Lily and what could be, and as he allowed himself to bask in the possibility of a chance at something incredible. This man deserved the best of everything and I loved getting to see him realize that in this book.

Lily and Tyler both on themselves at a crossroads in a lot of ways over the course of this book. She is fresh off of a break up and he is someone who has been closed off romantically for a long time. When these two are together not only did they build a genuine friendship that reignites so much connection between them, but they start to feel so much more for one another. And that more is beautiful, it’s deep and vulnerable and real, and it forces the two of them to realize that what they may have thought they wanted could be so much more with one another.

I loved getting to watch the two of them take chances with each other.

Getting to watch them, put their hearts on the line even when it’s scared them out of their minds. Getting to be there as they took a chance on each other and on themselves in the future. Getting to be connected to their story as they figured it out, as they fought for what could be, and as they put their hearts on the line when it really mattered was absolutely everything. And I loved every single second I got with them in this book on that journey. I loved how those two weren’t afraid to be vulnerable, weren’t afraid to pull back those layers and show each other the real them, and I loved that they also weren’t afraid to love each other loudly when it really mattered.

One pinky swear at a time, those two pulled me under with them into the fierce level of connection and love that they were building and sharing, and it was absolutely beautiful.

This author once again immersed me in the world of football that I just truly can’t get enough of. When I tell you this series is my happy place I mean it. Every book by this author is my happy place, but this series especially. It is the meeting point of so many incredible characters and stories that I’ve loved from this author, well also setting up so many possibilities for future stories that I cannot wait to get my hands on. This author perfectly weaves together the dynamics and friendships and family that these characters are within this world and it is truly everything to experience.

This football team is something special and you feel that in your bones while reading this book and every book in this series. I love the connections between these players, I live for their group chats and the TikTok challenges, but more than that I just love that they genuinely care about one another, and that they truly are this family that will do anything for each another. These characters love to push each other‘s buttons, they love to push each other when it’s really needed, but more than that they love to be there for one another. I loved once again, being back in the heart of this team and getting to watch the sports players give it they’re all on and off the field.

Kathryn Andrews truly finds the best balance in creating a sports romance that gives you that heart and romance and spice and connection, while giving you the sports and the outside world and everything in between. It truly comes together to make the perfect package and an unforgettable romance. I can’t say that enough.

Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends is a book that I cannot say enough good things about. This book is definitely one of my top reads of the year and definitely one of my favorites from this author. It just was so beyond good to read and experience. It made me smile, it made me melt with these characters, it definitely made me blush with some of the moments they share, but more than that it just made me believe in everything they were feeling and experiencing together. Tyler and Lily are soulmates. They were meant to find each other in this book. While the start of this book finds them both at a crossroads not exactly sure what comes next, the middle finds them willing to put in the work for themselves and each other to see what could be, and the end of finds them creating something so perfect and true and real that truly took my breath away.

I loved every single word and page and moment of this book. Tyler and Lily are the actual best. And this world and this series and this football team is somewhere that I cannot wait to be back in. I’m already keeping my fingers crossed that this author will write all of the books for all of these incredible characters because I need every one of their stories. I think that just speaks to what she creates in every one of her books that I truly can never get enough. I’m always ready for more, I’m always ready for the next book, and I’m always ready to see what she will create with her characters and their unforgettable stories.

Kathryn Andrews continues to be one of my favorite authors for a reason because she pours her heart and soul into every word of her books and it shines on every page. I felt that through every breath of this story with Tyler and Lily as they went from roommates to friends to so much more. Their story was consuming, epically, romantic, and just so beyond sweet and spicy, and all kinds of amazing. Those two stole my heart from the very first moment I met them, and with each new pinky promise, they just solidified how much I needed them to find their way.

I loved getting to go along with them over the course of their journey in this book and getting to see them pour their hearts out to one another. It was a heart touching and emotional story that consumed me with them, connected me with them and just let me live every breath of the story with them and the most amazing way. This author allows you to feel it all with these characters over the course of this book, showing you that the possibilities of more and taking a chance can truly change your life in the best way.

Tyler and Lily have the best kind of love story in this book. Getting to watch these two experience that glorious more together is absolutely everything. And this author delivers their story in a way that will have you beyond invested, beyond ready for everything they’re about to give you, and beyond ready to get that much deserved happily ever after for the two of them. This book delivered it all in spades and it is a must read.

Tiger Lilies and Tight Ends is the perfect romance read, and it is one that will steal your heart the moment you start it. I promise you that. So the second you finish this review, run yourself to this book. Because Tyler and Lily are ready to give you their all, and you will be truly blown away by what you get with them in their story.

I pinky promise you that.

Only, I haven’t just grieved the loss of my brother, but her too. My heart has ached for what could have
been, and what I had to let go. I know what I did to her was wrong, unfortunately, I never had an
opportunity to explain that at the time I thought I was right. But as the door opens and she steps in
wearing green scrubs and a long white coat, shock ripples through me and hope that I might finally get
the chance.
Sophie Black
I always wondered if this day would come, but I never expected to see him here, with her, in one of my
patient rooms. He’s even better looking than I remember and giving off single dad vibes, too, as he
cares for his adorable niece. A niece I didn’t know he had.

I was surprised when he asked if he could see me again, but I instantly declined. Fool me once, shame
on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Only now we keep running into each other, and I’m confused. Is
fate throwing us a second chance, and if so, should I catch it?

*****5 Utterly Incredible Stars*****

It is absolutely no secret that Kathryn Andrews is one of my favorite authors of all time. I have been reading her books for over a decade now, and she has consistently delivered phenomenal romances that have stolen my heart, that have given me unforgettable and dynamic characters, and that have brought to life the most consuming love stories I’ve had the pleasure of reading. She is one of my favorite authors for a reason and every time I start to read one of her books I just fall in love with her writing and what she creates with her character so authentically. When I sit down to read a book by her, I know I’m going to feel and live and experience every breath of what she creates and that is honestly just part of what I love about her books so much.

From the very first page of Wildflowers and Wide Receivers, I was addicted. I was hooked. I was consumed. I was in it with all that I had with these characters. Jonah and Sophie stole my heart. From that very first moment, from that very first night of the two of them, I was in it with them. I was invested. I was ready to get everything with them. I was here for it all. That just shows you what this author creates from the very start that you feel that in your heart and soul from that very first page. There is just truly something right about them. Those two are soulmates. They are the definition of right person wrong time. They are two people who have an incredible night, who lose touch for the most heartbreaking reason, and who find themselves back together again with a second chance at it all.

And that second chance? It’s absolutely beautiful.

It’s authentically and so breathtakingly real and emotional. It’s romantic and spicy and utterly unforgettable. It’s special and sweet and just so so good. It’s them. It’s them in the BEST way, and I truly can’t say enough, how much I lived for every breath of their second chance together.

This book is all about what happens when the most unexpected things happen in your life. It’s about how you pick yourself up when everything feels lost and broken. It is a story about accepting what feels right and fighting for what you want and need with your whole heart. It is a story of discovery that letting go of what you thought would be will sometimes bring you to the place you were always meant to be.

This is a story full of heart, full of longing and connection, full of joy and heartache and second chances. It is a story of two people who have a deeply felt connection finding their way back to one another at the exact right time they’re meant to do it. It is a story of the beginning of a family, the beginning of a possibility, the beginning of more. It is a story that will truly touch every part of your heart, and that will have you believing in the magic of love and second chances.

Simply put, Wildflowers and Wide Receivers is an emotionally unforgettable and deeply romantic story of 2 people finding their way back to each other at the exact right time when their hearts are ready to see what could be.

Now I have to say that Jonah and Sophie stole my heart from the very start of this book. I’ve said that already and I could say it a million times over and it still wouldn’t be enough. Because when I tell you, I was so wholeheartedly invested in them, pulled into everything with them, and rooting for the two of them with all that I had, I mean that so much. I loved these two. I loved who they were as people. I loved what this book showed with them. I loved getting all of the pieces of them and who they were and who they wanted to be and everything in between. I love that. I just felt like they were so real and I just got them. This author allows you to get them and understand them in every way and it’s just very special. It allows you to feel like you’re living this book with them and that just enhances everything you get with them.

Those two are truly soulmates. They are two halves of the the same whole who were always meant to find their way back to each other. They definitely have hurdles to overcome and many a conversation to be had, but what I loved about the two of them is they were always willing to put in the work. They were always willing to show up. They were always willing to be grown ups and figure it out because they knew that there was something very special about the other. They knew that there was something very real happening between them. And even when it scared them out of their minds, even when it felt like things were stacked against them, and even when they weren’t sure what would come next, they always showed up, they were always honest, and they always felt what they did with their whole heart in the most real way.

I just loved how real everything about them and with them felt, and I really can’t say it enough. Jonah and Sophie are truly something special. I loved getting to know them and love them and experience every high and low with them. It truly felt like I was right there with Kathryn. Andrews brought it to life, and my heart cannot be more in love with what they delivered. Their story is romantic and fiery and won’t and full of life and personality, and so much heart, and I was swept up into it all in the most amazing way. I truly never wanted to leave those two because everything I got with them was incredibly beautiful, so beyond emotional and sweet and romantic, and just everything my heart needed.

I also have to say that opening up into a new series and world of characters, while also getting to revisit some very special characters from the past from this author was a delight. I am not a sports person, but I do love me a good sports romance, and this is one of the best I have read. It incorporates all the football fun, all the teammate banter and humor, and it just opens up into a world and team that I want every moment with. The guys on the team felt like my new best friends, and I am ready for every single one of them to get a book. I also loved that this story had so many connections to past characters that I fallen in love with because of this author and her words. It just felt like one big family coming together and it was everything.

I can’t say that enough.

I truly have no doubt that this series will be one of my all-time favorites. This book has already firmly cemented itself as one of my top reads of the year, and I am already chomping at the bit for more. I loved how fun this story was. I loved that there was such heart and emotion and connection to everything these characters shared. I loved that this author once again completely stole my heart with a story and a world of characters from the very first word of her book. I loved that I believed in these characters, everything they shared, and every possibility of what could be. I loved that I felt so in this story that I laughed and cried and melted and wounded and just loved every morsel and moment I got with every character in this world. it was truly unforgettable and all feeling and every other incredible thing under the sun.

It was truly the best, and the reading experience and absolute joy I got with these characters throughout this book and love story is something I will never forget.

Wildflowers and Wide Receivers is Kathryn Andrews at her best. It is an impeccably written and crafted love story that will steal your heart, that will bring you into a world you will never want to leave, and that will show you how meant to be Jonah and Sophie are. Years ago they shared a memorable night and this is their second chance at all. That second chance is woven together and the most beautiful and incredible and just absolutely, fantastic way that will have you believing in everything with the two of them. They are just so so special, and so so right for each other, and getting to see them finally find that right time together and put their hearts on the line was absolute perfection.

Just like the rest of this book.

If there is one book you read this year, it should be this one. Jonah and Sophie leave it all on the pages of this book and show you their hearts in th most authentic and beautiful way, and you will love it. You will love them. You will love the possibilities of what they create and the love that blooms and second chances. You will love every bit of spark and sweetness and swoon. You will just love them and this team and this world and a little girl who brings them back together at the exact right time. This story culminates a romance that truly feels written in the stars, and you will love every second of what you get with these two as they find their way back to one another.

Trust me.

Jonah and Sophie and Vivi are the real deal, and you will love and cherish every bit of this story with them and every other character who is ready to steal your heart in this book. I promise you that! Because I know I did. I loved this book with my whole heart, and I honestly just wish I could go back and read it again for the first time because the magic and love and spark and beauty of what you get to experience so naturally and authentically with these characters is truly everything in the best way.

Kathryn Andrews has once again delivered an incredible romance in this book that will steal your heart in every way. Her words create something that is so very special and utterly incredible because she lays it all on the line and infuses that into what she gives you with her characters. She puts so much heart into the story and gives you everything and then some. She just makes it all between Sophie & Jonah feel so real, so true, and just so them in the most dynamic and genuine way possible.

There is so much more I could tell you about why you need to read this book, but honestly, you just need to go read it. You need to read it and experience it and just fall hopelessly in love with these characters and how special they are. From the moment you meet them, you will feel that and know that and just love them. I promise. And in the end, you will just be blown away by what you get with their love story because it is truly the best and the epitome of what a love story should be.

I truly can’t say that enough.

Over two years ago, I met a woman on New Year’s Eve, and it was the best night of my life. That is until the next morning when it became the worst.
One voice message. One swerve over a double yellow line. One little girl, my niece, that’s now mine.

Review Post: The Final Play by Amie Knight

The Final Play isn’t always the end.
Sometimes, it’s the beginning of something far more beautiful.

The Final Play, an all-new enemies-to-lovers sports romance from Amie Knight, is available now!

As a professional linebacker, I lived and breathed football.
The only thing I loved as much as the game was my twin brother, Max, who kept me almost as busy cleaning up his messes.
The most recent of which landed him behind bars.

So, it shouldn’t have surprised me when a beautiful woman showed up on my doorstep, claiming to be pregnant with Max’s baby.

Glory was unexpected, infuriating, and flat-out crazy most of the time.
But no matter how hard I tried to deny it, that tiny spitfire slammed into my boring life with the strength of a Category 5 hurricane, blowing through my defenses until she’d carved her name in my heart—permanently.

I feared we would never work. She was a single mom, my brother’s ex, and one more chance for me to fail yet another person I loved.

But if football was my church, then Glory was my heaven.

My Review:

*****5 Absolutely Amazing Stars*****

Amie Knight continues to be one of my all-time favorite authors. When I sit down to read one of her books, I know that I will be doing that in one sitting because her books are utterly consuming. I know that she will give me an unforgettable story that is so full of heart and feels special, and I know that she will give me incredible characters that I will instantly be in love with. This book had everything I’ve come to love and expect from this author in spades, and it just had me beyond in love with everything they gave me.

The Final Play what is the perfect conclusion to a series that has owned every single part of my heart and soul.

This series has been an absolute pleasure to read. It has made me cry, it has pulled at every part of my heart, it has made me smile and laugh with the antics of these characters, it has charmed me and wowed me in every way possible, and it has just overwhelmed me in the most amazing way with what these characters have given me.

What Amie Knight has created in her Summerville Sports series is something that I will always treasure. She has found the perfect balance of romance, emotion and heart, football, fun, and feisty characters that will have you desperate for everything they’re willing to give you. I have loved getting each and everyone of these characters journeys in the series, but I won’t lie, ever since that first book, I was ready for Mason‘s story. I was ready to see his journey. I was ready to experience what he had been through because I knew it would be an emotional doozy, but I also knew that I was so ready for it.

What I got with Mason and Glory was nothing short of everything.

It was fiery as hell, forbiddingly romantic in the best way, with so much heart touching emotion that consumed every part of me as I was reading. Those two get off to a very interesting start, and it is memorable to say the least, but what ensued with them as this book continues on is a love story that well make you feel everything. It will show you the authenticity and vulnerability of them both. It will allow you to understand and feel everything with them. It will allow you to get why they make the choices they do, why they build the walls around their hearts that they do, and why the other is the one person who can knock all of those walls down. It will allow you to be at the forefront of it all as they feel and share what they do, as they put it all on the line, and as they see what could be in what seems like an impossible situation.

What Amie Knight gives you with Mason and Glory is the actual best. I’m pretty sure that my cheeks were hurting from smiling and laughing so hard at the banter between those two. When I say they are definitely enemies to lovers at the first part of this book, I mean that with the fiber of my soul, and I mean that in the best possible way. They have the best push and pull that is so intense, that is so fiery, that is so sassy and personality driven, and that will have you loving it all. They get on each other‘s nerves, they push each other‘s buttons, and they know exactly what to say to get the other simultaneously turned on and annoyed as hell. I loved being in the thick of that dynamic and I was a living for every single line out of their mouths. The way that that continues and changes and grows and develops over the course of the story with him just amplifies everything you feel for them.

Trust me when I say that.

Mason and Glory are two people who shouldn’t want to be together, yet can’t help but be drawn closer and closer to one another. He is the star football player in the NFL. Football is his livelihood, it’s in his blood, and it is who he is. After a tragedy that tore his family apart, football was a staple. And so was his brother Max. They both went through a lot of trauma, and only one of them is doing okay at the start of this book. That’s where Glory comes in. She shared a wild weekend with Max about seven months ago, and now she’s expecting a little bundle of joy that belongs to him. Bound and determined to keep the only family he really has left, Mason sets out to show Glory that he can be there to help her through this and will support her. Even if they don’t like each other and even if they get on each other‘s nerves, he wants to be there for her. But she is bound and determined to do it on her own because that is what life has shown her, and that is all she can trust.

These two definitely get off to a rocky start, but the more they get to know one another, the more that he tries to help her, and the more she tries to push him away, the more they realize that there is something about the other that they can’t deny… And that they can’t run away from. I absolutely lived for that dynamic, that vibrancy between them, and that push and pull that built in the most glorious and slow burn way throughout this book. It was absolutely everything and that combined with the forbidden nature of it all because she was having a baby with his brother and he wasn’t supposed to want her, and she wasn’t supposed to want him, and the fact that they were so seemingly opposite in so many ways, but how it also just worked, made for an absolutely incredible read.

I really cannot say that enough.

Amie Knight delivered it all in this book. She gave me a romance that was swoon worthy. She gave me a romance that was so honest and real. She gave me a romance that allowed me to peel back the layers of these characters and truly understand their hearts and their minds and what was driving them. She gave me a romance that was all consuming in every way. She gave me a romance that was beautiful and emotional and thoughtful and sweet and just genuinely enjoyable to read.

She gave me a romance that delivered everything I needed and more. And it was the actual best.

One of my favorite aspects of this book, that I felt from the very first page of that prologue, was the level of emotion and vulnerability that Amie Knight so seamlessly weaves into the story with these characters. She wholeheartedly enveloped you within that emotion from the very start. She let you understand the trauma of what both Mason and Max went through as children. She let you understand what has driven them apart as brothers. She let you understand Glory and her life and her struggle. She lets you understand what these characters have been through. She lets you understand their worries and vulnerabilities. She lets you understand what keeps them apart when all they want to do is run to one another. She lets you get and understand the why behind their fears and what holds them back. But more than that she also lets you get what eventually pushes them forward. She lets you get what gives them the faith to try. She lets you understand what makes them want to have more. She lets you be there in that tipping point when that more becomes something so very tangible for them.

She lets you be there through every facet of their journey and it is beautiful.

It is meaningful. It is heartfelt. It is genuine and real and complicated in messy and it is theirs and it is one of the best stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.

I loved everything that Mason and Glory shared. I loved that they had a bumpy and very memorable journey to finding their way. I loved that they so got off on the wrong foot, but definitely found their footing. I loved that they made each other realize that more was possible and that even though that more could scare you out of your ever loving mind, that more could also give you everything. I loved that they built a level of trust that allowed them to open up to one another. I loved that they really saw one another. I loved that they understood that the other had been through so much, I loved that they weren’t afraid to fight for each other when it really mattered, and I loved that they weren’t afraid to be vulnerable and real when they really needed to.

Their story definitely isn’t easy and it will break your heart a time or two, but they will show you that love can give you everything. They will show you that love can heal you. They will show you that love can give you a family. They will show you that love can give you hope. They will show you that love can bring you to places you never even thought were possible or even considered. They will show you that love can really help you find your way, even in the hardest and darkest of moments. They will show you that anything is possible if you keep your heart open to the one person who scares you out of your mind, but who also could make all the difference.

Amie Knight completely outdid herself in The Final Play.

Just when I thought I couldn’t love her books more, she went to and amplify the love I have her characters. The way that she let me feel and get every single part of this story with Mason and Glory as they took a chance on love and friendship and family was nothing short of wonderful. The way that she let me experience everything as these characters bare their souls to one another was absolutely beautiful. The way that she let me bask in the antics of their banter and their back-and-forth, while also simultaneously melting at the fiery and intense connection that was building between them was utterly incredible. The way that she just allowed me to be in this book, living these moments with these characters was absolutely fantastic.

This book was the perfect conclusion to a series that I have loved from the start. Getting to be with all of these characters as they celebrate the triumphs of football and family and friendship and love was absolutely beautiful and so meaningful. It was also all kinds of fun. Getting to be with these characters through thick and thin, through ups and downs, and through every crazy memorable moment just made this an absolutely phenomenal series to read and experience. This author perfectly balances that charm and that spice and that element of love, while also giving you so much heart and emotion.

Amie Knight brings it all together in the perfect package that will have you smiling and laughing and crying and feeling everything, and honestly that’s just scratching the surface of what makes this such an incredible book and series to experience.

I loved everything about this book and I really cannot recommend it enough. It was phenomenally written and crafted, it was so beautifully authentic and emotional, and it just blew me away with what I got with these characters. There were so many pieces and layers of them that’s so perfectly came together in this book and I just loved it. I loved what these characters made me feel. I loved what they gave me with them. I loved what they made me think and wonder and get along the way as they fought like hell for that family and that love that was so close to being in their reach. I loved getting to see them realize that love and healing and hope can be possible.

If you have loved a book by this author, then I guarantee you will love this one. If you’ve never read a book by this author, it’s a perfect place to jump in. Even though it’s the end of the line for these characters in this series, it’s also a perfect place to start the emotional love story that this author so beautifully gives you. If you love a good sports romance or a single parent romance with a for bidden twist, then run yourself to this book. And if you love a book that will make you feel at all and that will have you melting into a puddle of goo with what you get with these characters, then just do yourself a favor and read this book. As soon as humanly possible.

Amie Knight delivered it all in The Final Play, and I really could not have asked for more. What she gave me with her characters, what she allowed me to experience, what she allowed me to feel with the impact of their love was everything. It truly resonated with me in every way and I could not be more in love with Mason and Glory and what they share together. The way that these characters come together is unorthodox and a little crazy at times, but it’s them and it works and it’s fucking beautiful. And getting a love story that celebrates the possibilities of what could be, that celebrates the family you build and the family you have, and getting a story that celebrates embracing what made you you to be the person you are and the person who gets to love and be loved…well that is just magnificent.

And it makes for a hell of a love story. Trust me on that.

Excerpt

He was the best man I’d ever known and I couldn’t have him. I probably didn’t deserve him, anyway.

Tears flooded my eyes and I paid the cashier as fast as possible before practically running behind the buggy to get to my car. I loaded the groceries, tears trailing my cheeks.

I didn’t even bother to wipe them away. This whole situation was sad. It deserved my tears. Every damn one of them. Because Mason and Glory could never be.

It would be weird and wrong. What the hell would we even tell people? How would we explain? And how would Max feel? I had a feeling it wasn’t good at all.

I climbed into the front seat of my car and held on to my steering wheel for dear life. And sobbed. And then when I was done sobbing , I beat the shit out of that steering wheel and then the dashboard.

Because life wasn’t fair. It just fucking wasn’t and again and again it just kept throwing me punch after punch. How long was I supposed to still stay standing?

I felt like this might be the final punch and it was a knockout. Because I had a feeling that Mason Stark was my person. And I couldn’t even have him.

Review Post: The First Score by Amie Knight

TFS - BT banner

There was something about that first score, and not just on the football field.

The First Score, an all-new, best friend’s brother romance from Amie Knight is available now!

The First Score FOR WEB

I loved all of life’s firsts, which was why I’d been saving mine for one girl, my older sister’s best friend—Hazel Jones.

She was tough and sarcastic with walls around her heart as tall as a football stadium, but I knew she was the one for me.

Desperate times called for desperate measures and I’d have done anything to make her mine.

Like create a fake online persona.

Lie about my age.

Pretend I wasn’t some naive virgin.

And catfish the hell out of the love of my life.

Excerpt

“Thanks so much for taking her home, Hazel.” Ollie nudged me to get my attention and I turned to look at him, not having much choice in the matter now. I couldn’t be rude. It was a mistake. The green of his eyes was deeper today, less brown. I knew it was the jersey. It was always that way. A bead of sweat slid down the side of his face and he ran a hand through his hair like he always did. I knew it was a habit of his, just like I knew so many other things about him.

“You owe me.” I tried lightening the mood like I had with Scarlett. I nudged his shoulder but only came into contact with a pad.

Dragging his bottom lip into his mouth, he raked his teeth over the fullness and his eyes heated. He leaned his face close to mine. “You name it and it’s yours, brat.”

My face flamed and my mouth watered. Lord, he was a terrible flirt and by terrible I meant amazing. I swallowed the saliva pooling in my mouth and stepped back.

“Cut it out, Olls. Quit giving her a hard time. She came all this way so your ass would have a way home tonight.” Scarlett attempted to save me.

He eyed me. “Oh, I haven’t even started giving her a hard time yet,” he said before walking backward down the stadium steps, hot eyes still on me. I was thanking whatever gods were listening that he was walking backward. Please, God. Spare me that ass. I couldn’t handle it after his damn lip trick.

“You’re shameless, Oliver Knox,” Scarlett called down to him.

She wasn’t wrong. Oliver flirted with all the women. I never could tell if he had a preference for a certain kind of girl. If it walked and had tits and a vagina, he flirted.

“Bye, ladies,” Oliver said loudly and jangled Scarlett’s keys over his head before doing the most awful thing in the world to me—he spun around and gave me his ass. And God, was it a marvelous ass. Immediately my eyes ate it up. Was there anything better than a hot ass in some football pants? It was round and firm and high and I bet I could have bounced fifty quarters off of it. But I didn’t have any change. Damn. That was just my luck.

I was being mesmerized by the twin all white globes when they stopped just barely and my eyes diverted up to see Oliver looking over his shoulder and smiling. Damn him. He gave me a slow wink before continuing down the steps at a trot.

The tease. The bastard. He knew how good-looking he was. It didn’t matter a bit that he was my best friend’s brother or that he was a year and a half younger than me. Oliver Winston Knox was fine on a regular day, but in a football uniform he was the stuff dreams were made of. My dreams to be exact.

*****5 Completely Unforgettable Stars*****

Let me start this review by saying that I am officially #TeamHollie for life….and the moment you start The First Score by Amie Knight, you will be too.

When I read a book by Amie Knight, I know that I will get many things. I know that I will get exceptional writing that will put me in the thick of her story and her beautiful words. I know that I will meet characters who will own every part of my heart. I know that I will read a story that will give me the emotion, the fields, the romance and Swoon that I crave. I know that I will get a story that I will never forget. I know all of that and more when I am lucky enough to read her words, and The First Score was no different.

This story was everything.

It was one of the most glorious slow burns I have ever read. It was a story of two people who could not be more perfect for one another, yet had to overcome quite a bit to finally get that chance to see what could be. This story was bursting with connection, fire, and visceral spark. It was built with the most exceptional level of intensity and pull between these characters, and there was such a rightness to everything that Ollie and Hazel shared that pulled me in with every fantastic word. Amie Knight’s incredible writing brought it all to life, made it all so real and vivid to experience, and thoughtfully created a story that felt so good to experience and read.

I loved every single word of this book. I loved how right Hazel and Ollie felt right from the start. I loved that I believed in the two of them and rooted for them with all that I had from that very first page. I loved getting to be there with them as they put it all on the line and as they went for it. I loved getting to know the two of them in such a real and honest way that made them two characters that I loved with every part of me.

I loved that Amie Knight took the time to let me understand Hazel and Ollie on the deepest of levels. She gave me their history, she showed me their past, she showed me how they came to be them. She put me in the thick of it in the best way and it connected me wholeheartedly to these characters and everything that they were sharing together. Hazel and Ollie have known each other almost their entire lives, and that is a big part of their story, their connection, their struggle, and just everything. I love that I got that level of understanding with them because it just made me believe in them more and it made me NEED the two of them to be together.

The way that Amie Knight allows you to be a part of this story with her character’s is truly incredible. Her writing has such a level of personality, voice, and authenticity to it that allows you to live her words right along with these characters. You feel what they do, you think what they do, you go through these moments and hurdles and triumphs with them. You live and breathe and feel it all in a way that is truly unforgettable. That level of connection, ease, and vividness she creates truly really sets her writing apart.

And let me tell you, from the moment you meet Hazel and Ollie, you will love them. You will love her fire, her quick wit, and you will love getting to peel back the vulnerable and emotional layers of her. Hazel is truly something special. There’s a lot more to her than initially meets the eye, and getting to go along with her and Ollie as those pieces of her are thoughtfully revealed, as she comes into her own in a way, and as she pushes for that more is nothing short of everything. Hazel has a hard shell, but inside she is all alone or ability and emotion, and getting to understand her, getting all of the pieces of her, and getting to be there as she sees what could be was beautiful and breathtakingly emotional. That girl is truly something special.

Ollie is just the best. He is an honest-to-goodness good man with a heart of gold who would do anything for Hazel. That much is obvious. He has wanted her his entire life, he has fought for her his entire life, and getting to see that all come to a head with the events of this book, and seeing how that affects him and her was spectacular. Ollie is a football player who can rock those little white pants, he is a man who knows what he wants, and he’s definitely willing to put it all on the line and take those risks when it really matters. He’s also a man who’s bound and determined to have the one girl who he knows is for him. His perseverance and determination, along with that smooth charm will have you melting for him. Trust me.

Hazel and Ollie will definitely make you work for it in this book with them, but you will LOVE every single second of that journey with them. You will love the moments with them that make you laugh, you will love the moments that make you melt and swoon, you will love feeling that heat and spark, you will love the moments that push you to the edge right along with them. You will love getting to see them fight. You will even love getting to be there in those moments when they struggle and in those moments that hurt your heart.

This story definitely makes the two of them work for it, but that was exactly what they needed. That was what fit and what was right, and every word and moment of this story will have you knowing that and believing in them again and again.

I have to say that one of my favorite parts of this story was all of the amazing side characters that make this world a place on never want to leave. Getting to be back with the characters I fell in love with in The Red Zone was amazing. Scarlett and Luke and Ella and Mason are just the best, and getting to see how this story coincided with that story, and really just getting to be back with this group of amazing people was wonderful. This world is truly something special and what Amie Knight has created with these characters is something that I will treasure forever.

Not to be outdone, but Hazel’s relationship with her Pops was EVERYTHING. Those two stole my heart almost as much as Hazel and Ollie did, and the humor and banter of those two was on a whole new level. But more than that, their relationship, their love for one another, and the special bond they share truly gave me so much. It honestly just made my heart happy to read and experience, and it definitely allowed me to understand a lot of what was and what could be. I dare you to go a page of reading Hazel and her Pops and not smile or laugh your ass off. It is literally impossible. Those two will have your cheeks hurting and your heart bursting and you will love it.

The First Score was a phenomenal story from start to finish. It is a story of friendship that is on the precipice of becoming so much more. It is a story of two characters who want so much more, who also have some very strong feelings about that more, and their story of fight to get to that more. It is a story of second chances. It is a story of heart and emotion and honest feeling from the deepest part of your soul. It is a story of two people who are so genuine, so good, and so damn right for one another. It is a story of struggle and build and tension. It is a story of unadulterated pull and connection and heat that literally lights the pages of this book on fire.

It is a story of two people who are just right and beyond meant to be.

It is a story of an amazing girl and a very special boy, who turn into a strong AF woman and an even better man who would do anything for his girl.

It is a story of hope over fear, heart over mind, lots and lots of incredible tension and build up, a little bit of Tic Tac Toe, and what can happen when you break the rules just enough for the chance to get to the person you’ve always wanted to be and be with.

It is a story of how everything can change with a lot of heart, a hell of a lot of fight and push, and maybe just a little scrap of paper and pencil under a doorway.

The First Score is truly one of the best books I have read this year and ever. It is something special. Ollie and Hazel will sear themselves to your heart from the moment you meet them, and you will root for those two and there chance at it all with all that you have. They make you work for it, but that work makes it allllll worth it. They may make you crazy and they may make you wonder what in the world is holding them back, but through it all you will love them. You will love them, you will believe in them, and you will need for them to find a way through it all to one another because they are two of the most perfect puzzle pieces that have ever been created and they only match one another.

Amie Knight rocked the hell out of this book. I truly can’t say that enough. Her words took me to a whole other level with Hazel and Ollie, had me experiencing the magic of them, and had me believing in the power and pull of what could be. Her words and what she created with them showed the true amazingness of #TeamHollie, and I will never forget what it was like to read and live and breathe and feel every word of this story.

Like I said at the start of this review, I am #TeamHollie for life and if I could shout that from the rooftops right now, I would. Hazel and Ollie are the actual best. Their story is one I will never forget, and if I could go back and reread their story for the first time again I would. Those two are something special and experiencing The First Score with them was everything that I needed.

And I am telling you, the minute you meet them you will love them, you will believe in them with your whole heart, and you will be desperate for everything they will give you in The First Score.

Title: Lessons in Lemonade
Series: Starving for Southern Series
Author: Kathryn Andrews
Genre: Contemporary/Sports Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2020

Meg Dukette
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
I believe in living my best life, and if surviving cancer taught me anything, it’s exactly that. I wake every day in the most beautiful city in the South, I’m a chef at my own restaurant, and everything is just the way I want it: easy, calm, and in perfect harmony—that is, until my best friend shows up with his wounded heart, smoldering gaze, and adorable dimples. Now, things are changing—we are changing—but with the promises I’ve made to myself, I don’t want them to. After everything I’ve been through, breaking them now seems unthinkable, but the alternative might be a lesson my heart’s not prepared to learn.
Jack Willett
Just when you think life is the best it’s ever been, fate has a way of intercepting.
I’ve spent ten years playing in the NFL, and with one wrong hit, my world comes crashing down. Now, I’m at the crossroads of what might become my past and a very different future. What I need is time and my best friend. Her gorgeous smiles, sexy legs, and optimistic outlook on life make the world brighter, better, and I’ve quickly found myself craving her more and more. She says we’re just friends, says that’s all we’ll ever be, but actions speak louder than words. It’s time to change the game, and I’m ready to pass the ball. I just hope she’ll be on the other end to catch it.
He’s her best friend.
She’s quickly turned into something more.
Will making a play for her heart be more bitter than sweet? Or will it add just the right amount of zest to make the most delicious ending of all . . .

*****5 Completely Amazing Stars*****

There are many things I know to be true in life, and at the top of that list is the fact that Kathryn Andrews writes amazing, unforgettable books that are truly in a league of their own.

I have been a fan of hers since her very first book Drops of Rain, and every new book, every new set of characters, every new world she lets me so vividly experience shows me again and again why she is one of my all-time favorite authors. Lessons in Lemonade was no different. This book brought me back to a world that I honestly never want to say goodbye to. This book gave me two characters that my heart was immediately with, and that I immediately believed in and rooted for with all what I had. This book was emotional, it was meaningful, it was viscerally beautiful, and it was romantic. It was sweet and swoony and funny.

It was everything. It was more. It was one of the best books I have read.

Every word of this book was incredible. I honestly can’t say that enough.

From the moment I met Meg and Jack, I knew those two were going to permanently own a piece of my heart. From the very first word of this book through the the very last, I was completely consumed with everything those two gave me. Their story and their intertwined journey together is about a lot of things. It is a story of second chances and what comes next. It is a story of emotional and life-changing upheaval that will bring you to places you never thought you’d be. It is a story of two people who are drawn to each other something fierce. It is a story of what happens when you push for more, a story about meeting that one person who makes you think about changing everything.

Lessons in Lemonade is a story of two friends who see what could be when sharing something more together soon becomes an option they can no longer resist.

I loved everything about this book. I loved the characters who completely stole my heart from the very first page. I loved that I could not put down this book for anything. I loved that this story not only took me on a journey with these characters and their relationship together, but it also highlighted their own personal stories and journeys that were just as important. I loved getting to be with the two of them in so many vivid and memorable moments. I loved getting to see a friendship blossom into something so deep, so real, and so beautiful. I loved how Kathryn Andrews once again allowed me to live and breathe and experience every syllable of her words through her incredible writing.

I loved it all.

if you have read the other books in this series, then you know that Meg and Jack were a story that needed to be told. You meet them both along the way in the other magnificent books that make up this series, and that set up is just part of what will have you so ready for their story. Even if this is your first time meeting them, you will love them from the start. I guarantee it. There is no way you can meet them and not fall hopelessly in love with them. They are just too good, too right, and too special to not love them with your whole heart.

And let me just tell you, if you have not had the pleasure of reading the other books in this series, then you need to this very second. Those books are utterly spectacular, and they will not only introduce you to a world of characters you will never want to leave, but they are truly some of the most exceptional books I have ever read. This book is the last in that series of interconnected stand-alones, and let me tell you, Kathryn Andrews brought this world and this story to them most fitting and fulfilling conclusion. I truly could not have asked for more.

One of my favorite aspects of this series and any book that this author writes is the way that she makes it so vivid and beautiful to experience. She transports you to some amazing places that are truly memorable and completely encapsulating. She makes every location feel so real. (And so many of them are real, and let me tell you, I need to go to those places as soon as humanly possible.) She makes every moment feel like you’re right in the middle of it. She brings out so many exceptional nuances and dynamics with these characters that mean everything. She gives you food. She gives you magic. She gives you feels and romance and the little things that really are the big things. She gives you love. She gives you everything.

Lessons in Lemonade was just the best. I loved every single word of Meg and Jack’s story together. I loved that it was very much of friends to lovers story. I loved that these characters both had to face some very tough decisions and choices that showed so many truths about them. I loved that everything they share together made them question everything they thought they knew and everything they thought they wanted. I loved that them being together made all the difference and truly changed everything. I was completely entranced with their connection and their fierce chemistry together. The rightness of the two them enveloped me from the start, and honestly I just spent all of this book LOVING what I was getting with them and eager for more of it all.

From the very start, Kathryn Andrews showed me the literal goodness of the two of them. She showed me their spark. She showed me where it all started for them. She let me be a part of the foundation and start of their friendship, and she let me be there when it crossed over into something more. She let me struggle with these characters with the challenges they faced, both individually and together. She let me understand them both on the deepest of levels. She let me get them, she let me peel back their layers so I completely understood why everything was happening the way it was. She put me there in the thick of it as the events of this story took these characters to places they never thought they’d be. She gave me it all with Meg and Jack, and it truly was everything.

Meg is literal charm and then some. She sweet, she is good, she is smart, and she is determined to live a life that feels good and right to her. She is a restaurant owner and chef who knows her way around the kitchen, and she is someone who knows what she wants. Or at least she thinks she does. She is also a woman who has been through a lot, and has the strength and tenacity to show for it. She is a woman who knows the power of food, and this book will exemplify that with her in spades.

Seeing her world get turned upside down by the seriously heart melting Jack, seeing how their relationship makes her rethink everything she thought she knew and felt. Getting to be with her as she navigated the wonderfully complicated and authentic dynamics this book’s events presented her was nothing short of spectacular. It was real, it was consuming, and it was beyond emotional and meaningful. I love and respect that girl with my whole heart for so many reasons, and honestly I just wish I could spend all the time in the world with er. Kathryn Andrews created a very memorable, authentic, and dynamic woman who is seriously easy to love. She is just the best.

Jack is a good guy. You inherently know that from the very first time you meet him. He is good, he is funny and charming in his own distinctive way, and he is not to be ignored. I loved that he was a flirt and force to be reckoned with in his own very memorable way that was never too much. He was always just enough. He was always more. That man is pure goodness. He has a heart of gold that is on his sleeve ready to feel it all. He is a man who gives it his all no matter what. He is also a man who has his entire world turned upside down in this book, and must face many life changing decisions.

What I loved about Jack was that through it all he stayed true to himself. He never wavered. And even in those moments when it looked like he did, or where he second guessed himself, he was still him. He was still the good guy who gave it his all. He was still the man who would do anything for his friends and family. He was the guy who put it all on the line when it really mattered. He was the man who saw the glass half full, even when the world threatened to break that glass to pieces. He was the best. Getting to be with him through the dark moments, through the bright ones, and through every unforgettable moment in between was phenomenal. It just made me love him more. I think it’s honestly impossible to not love Jack. He is just the best.

let me tell you that this story will take ahold of you with all that it has, and it will blow you away with the emotion, the meaning, and just everything you get with these characters. There will be moments in this story that will make you laugh, moments that will make you melt and swoon with the romance and the heartfelt moments that these characters share. there will be moments that hurt your heart and bring tears to your eyes for these characters and what they go through. There will be moments where you might want to shake them silly because of what’s happening, but all the while you’ll completely understand the whys behind it all. There will be moments in this book that will turn your world upside down just like it does to these characters.

And through it all, you will love it. You will love it with your whole heart and you will know, without a doubt, that you are reading a truly special and incredible story.

In this book, Meg and Jack are both handed some pretty sour lemons, but through every second of their unforgettable story you get to see how they squeeze and twist and mold those lemons into something resembling lemonade. And that lemonade? It just might be the most perfect thing you’ve ever had the chance to get.

And it’ll taste so so good. Trust me.

Lessons in Lemonade is hands down one of the best books I have ever read, and it is definitely one of my top favorites by this author. This is such a special story to me. It was so emotionally meaningful, and it was the perfect way to say goodbye to a world of characters that have stolen my heart for years. It was love and food and connection personified. It was a beautiful and emotional story of what could be, and it truly was magical with what I got with Meg and Jack. Those two are something special. They are the best. They are right and more and just everything.

I am telling you, you will love them. You will love them fiercely with your whole heart, and you will want and need everything with them. You will love the lessons, you will sure as hell love the lemonade, and you’ll even love the lemons that come their way. You will love it all. Kathryn Andrews thoughtfully crafted and created a story that is truly unlike any other, and that will give you it all.

So are you ready? Are you ready for the literal amazingness that is this book? Well take yourself a seat. Get yourself a glass. Give yourself a heavy pour of that sweet sweet lemonade, and be ready to experience the incredible, emotional, beautifully breathtaking Lessons in Lemonade.
