*****5 Completely All-Feeling Stars*****

Have you ever seen that music video for Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood?

You know the one.

It’s the one where she’s walking around with the baseball bat ready to beat the crap out of her boyfriend’s truck, and by the end of the video that truck is in pieces with quite a few new dings on it. It’s the one that shows the true power and strength of a woman, a baseball bat, and the consequences that can come from the choices we make. Or the choices that are made for us.

Well, let me paint a picture for you.

In this situation, Aly Martinez is the one with the baseball bat, you and your heart are the truck, and every swing, every hit, and every impact is every breathtaking and all feeling word of Reclaim.

Now I want to note, there is no cheating in Reclaim, so do not worry your little heart about that.

But you know what there is in Reclaim?

There are emotions. ALL of the emotions. There are feels. SO many glorious feels. There are two characters who go through everything on their journey to try to be together. There is a story that will take hold of your heart, a story that will try to break you and its characters, a story that will hurt you…but you know what? It will hurt you so good. And in the thick of that hurt it will show you the true strength and grit and heart of these characters.

Reclaim will hurt your heart. It will flood you with the feels and emotions and struggles of its characters, but I promise you, in the same breath it will give you it all.

It will show you the true power and impact of choices and consequences. It will show you that even in the darkest of moments, and even in those moments when you don’t think you can go any further, you can do just that and find the light to pull you through. It will show you the true depth of what these characters feel for each other, and it will have you knowing in the depths of your heart and soul that no two characters were meant to be more than Nora and Camden.

Let me tell you about Nora Stewart and Freaking Camden Cole.

Those two, they’re the best. The actual best.

Reclaim follows them through many years of their life. From the first moments they meet as young children, through the many years and events that come after, and eventually to them as adults trying to find their way, Aly Martinez gives you it all with them. She allows you to experience and live every moment with those two. She lets you be there. She lets you get them. She lets you see their friendship grow, she lets you be there in those moments when everything changes and when everything changes again. She lets you be with them as things fall apart, and as things eventually begin to fall back together again.

And just like any Aly Martinez book, she lets you feel it all, and I do mean everything.

She lets you feel their struggles and heartbreak and pain. She lets you feel and live those moments of triumph and hope that pull you, and the characters, through even the darkest of moments. She lets you feel every breath of those moments that are so full of fire and connection that grow in intensity with every breath these characters take. She allows you to feel and experience the build up of what her characters share, and she puts you in the thick of that incredible dynamic that you will never get enough of.

She lets you live every unforgettable moment with Camden and Nora, and more than that, she lets you understand so much of why things go the way that they do for those two.

I will warn you now, this book and its events are not easy for them. Especially for Nora. This book is heavy. What Nora goes through is heartbreaking and completely eviscerating at times. (If you’ve read her brother Ramsey’s story Release, then you already have an idea of that.) What Camden goes through along with her and on his own journey isn’t all sunshine and roses either. This book will take you and your heart through the ringer. It will knock the wind out of you and it will hurt you again and again, but let me tell you, there is no better author to give that to you than Aly Martinez.

Aly Martinez does Nora and Camden and their story the justice they so deserve. She tackles very hard topics with the perfect balance of everything. She makes things wholly authentic and real, she allows you to understand so much of what these characters feel and experience, and she always does it in a way that is just enough. She never takes away or belittles these characters’ struggles, but she also doesn’t lament on it in a way that has you feeling like all is lost.

Aly Martinez once again find the most exceptional balance of allowing you to understand and feel and live the heartbreaks, struggles, and anguish of her characters due to their story and the events they live through, while also having you know with every part of your being that not all is lost. That hope, like the most fragile of threads, is interwoven in the most incredible way through every moment with Nora and Camden. Whether it’s something tangible like a 10 dollar bill, or something more transparent, it’s there.

No matter what comes their way, that hope is always there. And I promise you, that hope will see you, and Nora and Camden, through everything that comes their way.

It’s always there, pulling them through the devastation that threatens them at every turn. It’s always there to show them that no matter what, their strength and fire can see them through. It’s always there to remind them why they’re on the hook in the first place. It’s always there to show them that some things are truly meant to be.

The fact that you feel that and know that and live that with them throughout the events of Reclaim will have you LOVING every bit of what you’re reading. You will be a part of this story, a part of Camden and Nora themselves and their emotionally breathtaking journey. And in the end, you will love every second of heartbreak and healing and fight and devastation that comes their way because it will exemplify their tenacity, their connection, their fire, and most of all, their heart.

There really is no way you can’t love Nora Stewart and Camden Cole.

Those two will definitely make you work for it. They will make you go the long haul and they will not make it easy, but that is what makes them them. That is what makes their story so special and unforgettable. That is what sets them apart.

Now don’t you worry your little head and think that this entire story will just be one emotionally murdering party with the emotionally murdering baseball bat Aly Martinez so incredibly wields. (Though it will be that to a certain extent and you will LOVE it.) While this book does have a world of hurt and emotion and feels running rampant through it, it also has one hell of a romance story. It has so many moments that will melt your heart and have you swooning before you can even mutter the words “Freaking Camden Cole”. It will also have so many moments where you just laugh your ass off with these characters and their banter.

Aly Martinez truly finds the best balance of everything to create one of the most magnificent stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

She makes you cry, she makes you want to throw that emotionally murdering baseball bat right back at her (in a totally loving way), she makes you laugh and melt and just swoon with these two, and really, she just makes you fall wholeheartedly in love with these two.

And you know what? You will just love everything this book so authentically gives you because it will give you it all. And then some.

Reclaim is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. With its emotion, its twists and turns, its authentic and dynamic characters, and its story and feels that never quit, this book had it all. I was consumed within every breath of this book from start to finish. Aly Martinez’s talent as a writer is truly on another level, and she shows that again and again in Reclaim.

I guarantee you haven’t read a book quite like this one or a book with this level of emotion and feels, so do yourself the best favor of the year and read this book. Read it, take it in, live its moments, and see how Nora and Camden fight to make it through it all. Like I said, their story isn’t easy and those two definitely put you through that ringer, but they make it oh so worth it with what they’re sharing and trying to build together.

And if you make the choice to read this book, to go into it with your heart open ready to feel it all, then I promise you you will love it. You will love it. You will feel it. You will be in awe of everything you get with these two along the way. You will be beyond invested in them and what they’re sharing, and by the time you turn that last page, you will know with everything you have that what Camden and Nora share is on a whole different level.

Those two are on the hook, and even when that baseball bat comes swinging and all of the emotional murder tries to throw them off, they’re there. On that hook, holding on with all that they have for the chance at a love that truly means everything, for a love that could truly save them.

And getting to experience a story like that? Getting to fall in love with two characters who feel and share that much? Getting to see first hand what it means to choose, to live, to feel and fight with all you have?

Well it doesn’t get better than that. Not one little bit.

Excerpt

He wedged his large body beside me in the bed. On his side, he draped one arm across my middle, curling his other under his head.

I watched him out of the corner of my eye, completely unsure if I was supposed to cuddle into him or what the hell we were doing.

“This okay?” he asked. “You comfortable?”

I was a lot of things. Confused. Lost. Overwhelmed by guilt.

But because it was Camden, comfortable was one of those things too.

As an answer, I rolled toward him and buried my face in his broad chest.

His whole body sagged as he began stroking the back of my hair. “Nora. Nora. Nora.”

In a way, Camden and I were strangers, but as his heart played in my ear, I felt two puzzle pieces clicking into place. A calm washed over me. The dark cloud of my betrayals still existed outside of Camden’s embrace; it just didn’t seem so ominous anymore. He knew all the dirty and broken parts of me and still came back, holding me as though he could keep me together.

Sliding an arm around his back, I curled in close, shifting to tangle my legs with his. “I’m tired, Cam.”

“I know,” he whispered, hugging me tight.

“No, you don’t. Nobody understands. I’m a disease who infects everyone who gets close to me.” My breathing shuddered. “It hurts. Everything hurts.”

“Do you remember our first summer together when a grasshopper got into the container where we held the extra worms? You screamed so loud when you opened that thing and it came flying out like a bat out of hell. It got on your shirt and then hung on for dear life. With all the racket you were making, the damn thing had to have been terrified, but he never jumped off. I had to peel it off your shirt, one leg at a time.”

I gagged at the memory. “Thanks for reminding me of that. Awesome timing.”

He chuckled and pressed his lips to the top of my head. “I’m the grasshopper clinging to your shirt, Nora.”

Now, if that wasn’t some good old classic Camden Cole rambling, I had no idea what was.

I tilted my head back, resting my chin on his pec, and peered up at him. “You do realize I have no idea what you’re talking about, right?”

My cold, hollow chest filled with a warmth I hadn’t felt in years when he grinned down at me.

“I genuinely thought you’d find your way back to me. A phone call. A visit. Anything. But as time passed and I got older, I realized I fell in love with a girl who had no idea how to be loved.”

My stomach wrenched, and emotion made my vision swim. “Camden, I—”

“No, just let me talk. Hear me out.” He tucked a stray hair behind my ear and let his thumb linger at my cheek, sweeping back and forth. “I know you love me, Nora. It’s flashed in your eyes every time you’ve seen me since we were kids. It’s like every light in the house suddenly comes on, but it terrifies you, so you spend the whole time we’re together running around, turning them all off, convincing yourself that you don’t deserve for people to love you back. But we still do it. Joe loves you. Thea loves you. Ramsey loves you. I’ll always love you.”

Excerpt

It doesn’t take long to get to Jack’s place. Griffin and he have been working together for years. Jack has always been the biggest flirt and serial dater up until he met Shelby. But in the span of the eighteen months, he met her, got married in Vegas, and had a kid.
It was a quick courtship.
Shelby works as an interior designer on the island. She fixes up huge houses for the rich people who will only use them for a couple of months a year. The cookout this weekend was her idea since starting Monday she’s finally back at work since having their baby, Ava, two months ago. She doesn’t really have any coworkers other than her assistant, Sarah, so Jack invited all the other firefighters and their families over too.
We park on the street along with a half dozen other trucks and a few minivans from the family men. He’s out of the truck and over on my side before I can even get my things together.
“Hand it over,” he demands, his palm up waiting for me to comply.
I play dumb, wide eyes and innocence on my face. “What are you talking about?” I climb down the too big truck, trying desperately not to fall over . . . again.
“The book that’s hiding in your bag, Leni.” He points to the tote bag hanging to my side. “Come on now, give it to me. Easiest way for you not to give in to the desire to hide and read is to remove the temptation.”
“I left my book at home. Remember, you saw me set it down.” I play dumb.
“I’ve known you since we were nine. If you think I don’t know that you have a backup book in that bag, then you’re dead wrong.”
“Ugh!” I sigh dramatically as I pull out my well-loved copy of Emma and place it in his hand. He gently tosses it onto my seat, and I smack his shoulder as he does. He knows better than to throw around my books.
“Great, now the Kindle.” His voice is stern, and I know he means it.
“Seriously? Griffin, this is not cool. I’m a grown woman. I can go a few hours without reading.”
“Sure, you can. But I know you’ll get overwhelmed by the chaos that is definitely happening in there and you’ll retreat to a quiet corner.” He leans in close enough to me that I can smell his subtle cologne and shoves his hand deep into the tote, pulling my Kindle out in one fast swipe.
“Don’t you firefighters take obeying the law seriously?” I snark at him. “Seems to me you’re stealing my possessions and my lifeline.”
“Sue me. Hell, march downtown and file a report with any cop there. Good luck getting them to pursue it. I think they have much bigger fish to fry than me holding onto your electronics while we are at a social gathering. Don’t you think?”
“Grrr,” I growl at him before stomping off toward the gate with him on my heels. Before I can even acknowledge what is happening, he’s caught up to me and has me caged between him and the gate. I work hard to steady my breath, refusing to let him see how his closeness affects me. I feel his hand slide into the back pocket of my overalls. As quick as it’s there, it’s gone, along with my cell phone. The backup to my backup plan.
“I told you, Leni, I know you. You can have this with your Kindle app back on the way home!” he yells out to me as I let the gate behind me slam in front of him.
With a huff, I turn, open the gate, and storm angrily through it. Caught in a fit of laughter, he stands there watching me leave him behind. With the loud sound of the metal gate slamming behind me mixed with the booming laughter coming from Griffin, the party seems to come to a complete standstill.
Great . . . everyone is looking my way and my first instinct is to turn and run. But to prove to him I can do this, I stand tall, throw my long red hair over my shoulder, and march myself over to Shelby.

*****5 AMAZING STARS*****

Miranda Elaine continues to be one my favorite authors. Her books are so utterly enjoyable to read. They are inviting, they are consuming, they just feel good. To quote my favorite snowman, they feel like a warm hug. It might sound corny, but it’s true. The way that Miranda Elaine creates her worlds and her stories and her characters, the way that she so authentically envelops you within everything that she creates, and the way that she puts you in the heart of her story is truly the absolute best.

It feels good. It feels welcoming. It feels nice to read. It is something you don’t want to have end. It is the best kind of hug, the one you just want to lean into with all that you have. It is one that truly melts and touches your heart.

All of her books have felt like this, but Overdue especially felt like this.

Everything with Leni and Griffin was incredible. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with those two from the very first moment I met them. And getting their friends to lovers story is something that I will not soon forget. It was memorable, it was emotional and meaningful, it was sweet as all get-out, and it was just so beyond endearing because of everything those two shared together. I am telling you, the moment you meet those characters you will love them. You will love them, you will root for them, you will feel for them with all that you have, and you will just want to leap into this book with them.

They are that good. They are that special. They are that amazing.

I mean what else can I say about this book besides the fact that it was outstanding and just so so good?

It truly had it all.

It had one of my favorite storylines ever, with two childhood friends trying to weigh their way through the ocean of feeling between them. It had a librarian falling for her firefighter best friend. It had a little bit of drama, it had a little bit of that something that kept you on the edge of your seat eager for what would happen next. It had such memorable characters, with so much sass and voice and personality that had me smiling from cheek to cheek. It had a story that completely consumed me from start to finish, and it opened up a world that I am so eager to get more of.

This book really was the entire package.

I think one of the things I loved most about this romance, besides everything about it, was that it was so easy to relate to these characters, and to understand who they were, what was driving them, what was keeping them apart, and what they were feeling along the way. Miranda Elaine once again did a phenomenal job of allowing you to connect into her characters, into everything they were sharing, into every piece of them so that you really understood them. She allows you to understand what keeps Leni and Griffin apart. She allows you to understand the buildup and the intensity of what happens between them. She allows you to be there in all of those moments that lets you understand why things happen the way they do and why these characters feel what they feel. She allows you to get it. She allows you to feel it. She allows you to understand every bit of it. And that is just a fraction of what allows you to connect to these characters on such a deep level.

I truly connected to these characters as I was reading their story. I connected to Leni’s fears about taking that next step, about pushing the boundaries of what she was sharing with Griffin, and I really just loved her. I loved her humor, I loved her reading and her view of books, I loved just everything about her. She was sweet and genuine and kind and just the best of the best. I loved Griffin just as much. I loved that he always understood, that he always pushed in a way that was genuine and thoughtful and just enough. He was just him. He was the sweetest, with a heart of gold. He was a man that was willing to fight and willing to be there when it really mattered and that truly made all the difference.

I truly just loved the two of them too. I loved their connection. I loved that Miranda Elaine allowed you to see them as children, at different ages, at different stages of their relationship as they tried to figure out how they crossed that crazy wonderful bridge from being friends to something more. I loved getting to be there as they struggled. I loved that I got to be there in those moments where things weren’t easy and when they had to really figure it out because that was authentic. It was real. It was easy to connect to and it just drove home even more how much I needed them to be together and how much I wanted that with every fiber of my being.

I just loved them. I loved them, I believed in them, I felt for them, I rooted for them, I just was enamored with them. And that is all a testament to what this author creates that I felt that so strongly through every word of the story.

And honestly, who doesn’t dream of falling for your firefighter best friend next door? Who doesn’t dream of that one person becoming more? Who doesn’t dream of sharing that little bit of fire with the one person who means everything to you? Who doesn’t dream for the chance at something real, something heartfelt, something that will give you everything you need and more?

It is a dream that truly melted my heart while I was reading this book, and that coupled with everything I got with Leni and Griffin made this the perfect read.

From start to finish I was completely in love with this book. I was in love with these characters. I was in love with this story. I was in love with this world that I was introduced to. I was in love With every memorable moment and experience that pulled me in something fierce to everything I was reading. I was in love with it all.

The way that Miranda Elaine and her thoughtful writing brings this world and story to life will truly give you the best kind of reading experience. It will wrap you up, it will hold you tight, it will give you all of the good feels, and you will love it. It will feel like that warm hug and you will never want for it to end. And even when you reach the end of this book, and when it’s time to say goodbye, you’ll still feel the warmth, the feels, and the abundant love of this book and these characters and everything they share because that is how amazing this story is.

I cannot wait for more from this series, more from this world, and more from this author.

If you have not had the pleasure of reading a book by Miranda Elaine, you need to run yourself to her books this very second. Her writing is on point, her characters and her stories are memorable and beyond authentic, and each of her stories and each of her characters are so easy to relate to. She makes her stories and every moment within them feel so very real. She brings you into the fold in a way that will truly pull your heart into everything you’re reading, and in the end she shows you what a good love story can give you.

Overdue was the epitome of a perfect romance. Bursting with feels, built on the best amount of spark and intensity and buildup, with two real characters my heart NEEDED to be together. It was everything I needed and more. It was a love story I wanted and believed in with my whole heart, and at its core, it was a love story of two people who could not be more meant to be.

I am telling you, if you give this story a read, you will not be disappointed. You will love every bit of Leni and Griffin and what they share, and even in those moments when they kind of drive you crazy, you will love them. You will love them, root for them, fight for them, and know with every piece of your heart that what they’re sharing is truly something special.

And really? It doesn’t get any better than that.

It doesn’t get any better than Overdue by Miranda Elaine.

*****5 Super Fun Stars*****

Miss Aprehended was a quick, fulfilling, and phenomenally enjoyable read that had me laughing out loud and blushing on every single page. The antics of Millie and Jake had me loving those two something fierce, and had me eating up every bit of what I got with them while reading this story. This story was equal parts laugh out loud funny, heart meltingly sweet, and over the top in the best way that will have your heart feeling on fire in more ways than one. Amie Knight and Miranda Elaine completely create a fast paced and well written read that delivers in every single way possible.

From the very first page of this story I was completely swept up into everything that Jake and Millie were sharing. With a story premise that had me needing to know what would happen next, and a serious amount of spark and connection between these two characters, Jail House Rock delivers a story that is fun, steamy, and downright consuming in the most authentic way. Through every turn of that page I got more of Millie’s fire and sweetness, I got more of Jake’s protective and heart melting self, and I got more of all that those two share together. With the best dose of unforgettable personality and charm, those two found themselves in my heart lickity split, and I loved every single word of this story with them. Their feelings were very real, very insta-love, and very heated to say the least, and that combined to make one helluva story.

Amie Knight and Miranda Elaine’s fantastic writing gives you so much with these two. The charm and vibrancy they add into every word and page of this book will have your cheeks hurting because you’re laughing and smiling so hard. I could not get enough of what this writing duo was giving me in this story, and I’m already counting down the days until I can get more of their words! Their writing perfectly balanced a quick paced story full of some serious intst-love, while also giving me some serious feels, spark, and some truly mesmerizing moments, and I really can’t say enough how much I loved that!

If you are looking for a well written, consuming, and all-around enjoyable read, then you need to run yourself to this book this very second. It was fun, full of charm and so much humor, and it gave one helluva love story with some serious heat, and I truly can’t say enough how much I loved it! Miss Apprehended is was insta-love, fast paced stories are made of, and it is a book I know you will love to pieces!

Excerpt

“Stay still, Tillie. I’m sick and tired of chasing your crazy ass around town,” I snarl out to the insane female I have pressed up against the wall.
A perfectly round ass is wiggling all too enticingly against my already hardening cock, and I let out an exasperated sigh. Stupid dick. Clearly, it doesn’t know what’s good for us. Peppermint and some kind of floral soap assail my senses. I almost back away so I can take a harder look at this blonde bombshell, but I refuse to be fooled again. I’ve been hunting this woman down for weeks, and every time I’ve managed to catch up with her, she has somehow managed to give me the slip. Not again. She missed her court date, and it’s my job to bring her in. I have something to prove, being the new guy on the block. I’ve only been on the job for two weeks, and I’ve spent most of it chasing this criminally deranged woman. True, her crimes consist mostly of bounced checks and small thefts, but the way she has managed to evade me these past two weeks only proves one thing—she’s a damn criminal mastermind.
“I’m not Tillie, you big oaf. Let me go. Now!” the crazy lady says while trying to turn her body toward me.
I press her harder into the wall with my body and groan. Fuck, she feels too good. She’s trying to kill me. I’ve been stabbed, beaten, and shot at plenty in my six years as a bounty hunter, but I’ve never been more convinced that someone was trying to kill me than at this moment. And she is using that smoking-hot body as the weapon. Fuck my life.
Funnily enough, I’ve never once felt this pull toward Tillie while I’ve been tracking her. But, now that I am up close and personal, I cannot help but want her. Everything about her is calling to me. Her voice, her smell—this woman is fucking intoxicating.
“Cut the bullshit, darlin’. I’ve been watching you for weeks now and you know it. I watched you walk in this door not ten minutes ago. I’m taking you in, collecting my money, and getting a good night’s sleep tonight.” I’m so over this shit.
“God dammit, let me go. I am not Tillie.” She’s talking to the wall, but I’m mostly paying attention. “I’m Millie, and you are ruining my gig. My fans are expecting me up on stage any minute,” she says.
I take a look around this dive of a bar that smells like bacon and stale beer, trying to hold my smirk back. Grabbing the handcuffs around Tillie’s wrists, I spin her around to face me.
“Babe, karaoke is not a gig, and if you think it is, then we got bigger problems than a few bounced checks and some petty theft charges,” I say, taking in her curvy body, starting at the tips of her pink-painted toes. I want to pull those gorgeous toes out of the high-heeled sandals she’s wearing and take a nibble, but I know that, the moment she thinks I’m distracted, she’ll take off on me again.
My eyes make their way up smooth, tanned legs until I hit the hem of her pale-blue dress with white polka dots right above her knees. And damn, that dress perfectly hugs every curve of her body. My hand almost involuntary makes its way up to the long strand of pearls dangling around her neck. I want to pull her closer with them so I can smell her again or maybe run my tongue over her plump, pink-stained lips. Big, angry, bright-blue eyes snap me out of my lust-fueled fog. Fuck. This girl is fucking gorgeous, and I immediately know I won’t be taking her in right away.
“You’re new around here, aren’t you?” she snaps at me, the ice in her blue gaze freezing me.
The corners of my mouth tip up in a barely there smile. God, I love a sassy woman.

Fate doesn’t always happen overnight.

Hudson Bradley is the cockiest, most stubborn, hard-headed man I’ve ever known. And for fifteen years, he’s been my brother’s best friend.

But lately, what I’m feeling for him isn’t friendship at all.

Why is my heart racing every time his blue eyes lock on mine?
Why does every word he rumbles in my ear make my body come alive?
And worst of all, why did I bet him that I could find a woman he and his son would both love?

If I hadn’t given up on love altogether, Hudson would have been perfect for me. After all, he was there the day my world fell apart. He’s spent the last six years piecing me back together.

There are a million reasons why we could never work, but after a single kiss, I can’t remember any of them.

Now that the time is right, I have to make him mine—before I lose him forever.

*****5 Utterly Amazing Stars*****

Aly Martinez and M. Mabie continue to be two of my favorite authors for a reason. Their words, their storytelling, their unforgettable characters continue to give me stories that I truly treasure. They have created worlds that I have never wanted to leave and they have created some of my favorite books ever. The two of them writing together is what dreams are made of. They way they thoughtfully and so incredibly weave their words and characters together creates a dynamic that I absolutely loved and could not get enough of.

When the Time is Right is the perfect culmination of the amazingness of these authors and their writing. It is funny and sweet. It is swoony as hell with the best level of heat. It is angsty and emotional and woven together with the best level of feels. What I got when I read this book was a fantastic reading experience that I loved every second of. This book was another shining example of a phenomenal story and set of characters that were brought to life by two of my favorite authors and people.

This book was an incredible friends to lovers story. I don’t know about you, but I love me a friends to lovers story. I love getting to see two characters start off as friends. I love getting to be with them as things start to change and as things become more. I love getting to see feelings become deeper and more real and to see those characters take that leap of faith off of that cliff into the unknown.

Aly Martinez and M. Mabie created such a phenomenal friends to lovers story in When the Time is Right. they have the perfect balance of everything. They had the feels in the emotion that completely invested me on every level with these characters. They have the laughs and the humor and the fun that just made this story a joy to read. They had the angst, and the push and the pull, and the glorious tension that intensified every moment these characters were together.

All of that blended so seamlessly together through their fantastic writing to create a story that I was completely invested in, a story that I never wanted to have end, and a story that just really gave me at all.

When the Time is Right is all about Hudson and Lex. Those two have been thick as thieves for as long as they can remember. They’ve both been through quite a bit themselves, but they’ve made it through together. They couldn’t be more right for each other, but it isn’t until everything comes to be and everything lines up just so that they start to realize that their best friend might be the person they were meant to be with. This story explores their friendship. It explores their past that made them who they are and brought them to the present tense of this book. This book follows them as you get that friendship, as you get that past, and as you see how it all comes together to create a possible future for them.

Every bit of this phenomenal story allows you to be right in the thick of it with them. Aly Martinez and M. Mabie do such an incredible job of letting you be with their characters through it all. They let you live with them, they let you feel with them, they invest you wholly and truly with them, and that will have you so in this story. That will have you invested in them and rooting for them and desperate for the tipping point of them when things become more. Getting to be a part of that with Hudson and with Lex was nothing short of wonderful.

The connection that these authors create between their characters was utterly fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story and getting to be in the thick of that connection because it just showed me again and again how right and how meant to be these characters were for one another. They just got each other. They had such an ease between them, there was something so right and just good about the two of them, and getting to be in the middle of that dynamic, getting to be in the thick of those personalities and just getting to be with these characters was so damn enjoyable.

These authors do the best job of showing you why these two characters need to be together, and they have you so completely invested in what could be. That perfectly builds up to the moment when things start to change, when they start to question what they’re feeling and when it becomes more. That was the perfect lead up to what happened in the story and it just had me loving everything I got along the way with Hudson and Lex.

I loved everything about the characters that these authors created. I loved their personalities. I loved to have fun they were. I loved how real and good they were. I love that Lex with a hot ass mess and owned it. I loved that Hudson was such a good guy and the best dad. I loved that you could tell these characters have hearts of gold, that they really meant what they felt, and what they said and what they did. I loved that they were a little crazy. I loved that they were so fun. I loved that they were just them. I think that speaks completely to what these authors create with these characters that I felt that and got that through every single word of their writing.

I just loved Lex and Hudson.

I loved their spunk. I loved their incredible chemistry. I loved the spark that permeated their interactions in the best way. I loved that they just got each other. I loved that they were there for one another, especially when things got tough. I loved that they just completely understood everything about one another, yet also learned more about each other. I loved that they were never afraid to go there, or push for more, or to do what was needed at the right time because that’s just who they were. They were good people, doing their damn best, and feeling it all along the way.

Aly Martinez and M. Mabie do the absolute best job of creating these characters, making them so vivid and memorable and real, and letting you wholeheartedly fall in love them.

I think one of my favorite parts of this story, other than the fact that Hudson and Lex were the absolute best, was that this story was a little heavier. It was more emotional, there was more angst, there was more feels to everything. I loved that there was still that glorious banter and that lightness and that sense of fun and humor, but things are also very real. It was emotional. It was heavy at times. It was heartfelt and heartbreaking in a way too with what these characters went through. I love that I got to see that with them and experience that with them. It really pushed them in the best way and it added such an unforgettable layer to what was created in this story. I loved getting to be in the thick of that dynamic and getting to feel that with these characters. It deepened and what I felt for them and what was created in their story and I just absolutely loved it.

There really is nothing better than two of your favorite authors and people coming together to write a book and creating characters that you love with your whole heart. This book was all of that and more. It was so enjoyable to read. It was fun and emotional and romantic and swoony. It was memorable and enjoyable and it was honestly just a damn good book. I loved every second I got to spend with in this world and with these characters, and I honestly didn’t want to leave it. I wanted to spend more time with all of these characters and within the writing of two of my favorite authors.

But let me tell you, as said as I was to see this book come to an end, it came to an end in the most fitting and perfect way, and I am telling you, you will love every step of the journey with Hudson and Lex to get to that ending.

When the Time Is Right was an utterly incredible story to read. It is a phenomenal friends to lovers story that will get you in the feels, that will have you blushing something fierce, but that will also completely show you the true depth of feeling that these two characters have for one another. It is a love story at its core and it is a hell of a good one at that. It is a story of two people who are so meant to be, yet must face a lot of challenges to see what could be. It isn’t always easy for them or you for that matter, but it is beyond worth it. And I’m telling you, if you give this book a chance and if you jump into it heart first, you will absolutely love it. It will give you it all and then some, and by the end of it you’ll just be damn glad that you read it in the first place.

So guess what? The time is right to have this book in your life, so do yourself a favor, put your time in, and meet Lex and Hudson. Experience their incredibleness. Live their story. Feel it all. They will melt you, move you, break you a bit, and put you all together again, and you will absolutely love it. Trust me.

Excerpt

I did everything I could to not make eye contact.
Actually, my MO for the past week had been no contact period, but that was a little hard to do when the guy you’re dodging knows things about you. Specifically, the lock code on your front door.
“You can go home, Hudson. I’m fine.” Out of my periphery, I watched him perch his hands on his hips.
“No,” he argued. “Not until we figure this out.”
So he had noticed my ghosting. I hoped he wasn’t as good at calling my bluff.
“There is no this.”
“What about what you said at the—”
“Yeah, I must have had a cold or something. Whatever it was, I’m over it.”
Lies. Lies. Lies. Hopefully, I’d start believing them.
“Over it?”
“Yep. Hey, how was your date?” My topic-swapping skills were on point. When he stopped, only an arm’s length away, I finally seized what scrap of pride I had and looked up into his blue eyes. “Are you seeing her again?”
He huffed. “Well, that’s kind of up to you.”
“Me?” I dropped the spoon into the sink and put the ice cream down so I could cross my arms over my chest. “What do I have to do with it?”
His lids fell shut, and he tipped his head at the ceiling, stretched his neck from side to side, and then brought his gaze back to mine. “Kate seems to think that, maybe, I have a thing…for you.”
My face flushed hot, and I wondered if maybe I’d fallen down trying to get out of my leather skirt earlier and I was dreaming, passed out on my bedroom floor. The issue with that theory was I could smell him, feel the warmth from his body in front of me, and see his heartbeat thumping in the vein in his neck.
This was real, but I still wasn’t sure I could handle it.
“Well, that’s just, uh, dumb,” I contended weakly. Shaking my head to rattle myself back to sanity, I asked, “W-why did she say that?” I tried to laugh, but it was as fake as my gusto.
“Because, apparently, I talked about you the whole night.”
Okay, I was wrong. I’d thought riding in a car with him and seeing him shirtless and watching him play with Jack and seeing how much he loved my family and having him touch me and avoiding him all week had been torture.
This moment was a whole new level of torment.
“So?” I said childishly.
It didn’t matter how I felt or what I wanted. I couldn’t just leap into his arms and expect everything to turn out the way it was supposed to. That’s not how my life worked.
“So I need to find out if this, whatever’s been building between us, is something.”
Wouldn’t that be nice? Up until that very second, it had all been one-sided. I’d racked my brain all week to understand why I’d felt the crazy things I did about him.
“How you gonna do that?”
“We’re going to kiss,” he stated very matter-of-factly, and then he closed the distance between our bodies.
“We are?” I whispered. My voice had all but left the building.
“Unless you stop me right now.”
I wanted to.
I didn’t want to.
I was scared.
I was excited.
But mostly, I wasn’t stopping him.

Come Down ecover

Did you ever hear the joke about the guy whose wife cheated on him with his best friend? So he quit his job, moved into his parents’ basement, and gained fifty pounds?

No? Because that wasn’t a joke. It was my life.

Four years later, I’m back with a dream job, a killer apartment, and a set of abs that are better than ever.

So, when Maggie Light, a stunning, snarky blonde moves in next door, and we spend the hottest weekend of our lives together, I think this could be the greatest comeback story ever.

That is until I realize Maggie has moved to town to do one thing—steal my job.

Maybe this isn’t a comeback story after all. Maybe this is war—one I intend to win.

What I never anticipated was that maybe I’d rather win her.

Perhaps, if I’m lucky, the universe has finally run out of jokes and I can somehow win both.

Excerpt

Oh, for fuck’s sake. Am I a man or not?

Here goes fucking nothing.

Take a risk, my ass. I’d fucking show Casey and Blake a damn risk.

I marched down to where she was sitting. “Hi, I’m Shane.”

She looked shocked, maybe a little startled by my approach—and rightly so. I’d stalked over like the fucking Terminator, all amped up from my private pep talk.

“The bartender, Chris, said you’re new in town, and it’s your first time here.”

Her sparkling blue eyes stood out against her makeup, and now—standing close to her—I could smell her perfume. A subtle and warm scent that made me want to lean in.

What the fuck had I been thinking?

To put it mildly, she was out of my league, but hey… Risks, right?

“If you’re dining alone, would you mind if I offer a suggestion from the menu?”

“I was only looking it over out of curiosity. I really just came in for a drink or two.” She folded it and placed it on the wooden top in front of her.

Goddamn, that cleavage.

“Oh. Yeah. Okay. Well, then…uh…let me get one for you.” I might have strutted over like the Terminator, but I was fumbling over my words like Barney Fife and beginning to sweat like a Crossfitter.

Her brows bunched. “Um, you really don’t have to do that.”

“Please. After the day I’ve had, I’ll actually have one with you.” I swiped at the back of my neck. “The drinks are good here. Very cold. Wet.” Jesus fucking Christ, Shane. Wet!? “Um. Alcoholic, if that’s what you’re into.” I waved Chris—and his bigger-than-life shit-eating grin—down to us.

“Find something you’d like?” he asked her.

“I’ll just have a Titos and cranberry,” she answered. “I hear they’re very cold and wet here.”

Chris looked at me disappointedly, probably guessing at how badly I’d botched this introduction. He wasn’t wrong, but she hadn’t told me to fuck off yet.

Yet.

“And I’ll take a Honeybee Brown,” I added.

He spun on his heel, shocked. “Really?”

I shrugged and shot daggers at him. “Really. A pint, please.”

“A cold, wet one too, eh? Okay, man. Coming right up.” He made our drinks and then about a dozen more for the servers who were keeping him busy.

“Thanks for the drink,” she said, clinking our glasses together, her eyes never quite meeting mine.

“Yeah. Sure. No problem.” I followed her lead and took a sip.

“So, do you come here a lot, Shane?”

My name on her lips had me clearing my throat.

“Yes,” replied our asshole bartender before I could answer.

“I live close,” I explained, and she nodded in understanding. “So, where did you come to the Bay from?” I took another sip, realizing that counting the beer I’d had with Casey earlier and this one, I was nearing my only-a-few-drinks daily limit. So I’d be savoring the pint as long as she didn’t seem too put off by my dusty-ass small talk. Otherwise, I could chug it down and then be on my merry way, leaving her to enjoy her night without a divorced, practically fired dude bugging her.

“Atlanta,” she replied and swirled a piece of ice with the drink stirrer in her glass. Still no eye contact.

Small talk. I fumbled for more small talk.

“You have family here?”

“No, I’ve always wanted to get out of Georgia. So, when I landed a job out here, it seemed like a sign.”

Finally, her blue eyes met mine and… Fuck, if I could have just remembered to blink, I’d have been doing well. I feared if I broke the gaze for just a second, I’d never see that color again, because surely it was a mirage of some sort. Like a crystal-blue pool in a desert. The kind of trick eyes could only play on a man who hadn’t been laid in nearly half a decade.

She finished with, “I start on Monday. I guess fate is as good a time as any to take a risk.”

*****5 Completely Unforgettable Stars*****

M. Mabie and Aly Martinez are two of my favorite authors and people ever. They are two of the first indie authors I read when I started blogging 6 years ago, and I have been a fan of theirs since the very start of their writing careers. They have emotionally murdered me in more books that I can count on all of my fingers and I effing love it. Those two have crafted some of the most unforgettable and exceptional stories that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Let’s just say I love their words and what they create with them. Like a lot. Like a lot a lot.

So when I found out two of my all time favorite authors and people were cowriting a book together, I might have actually shrieked so loudly that it alarmed members of my family. To say I was excited for this book and story to be in my life is the understatement of the century, and to say that I LOVED this book is putting it too mildly. This book was everything I didn’t even know I needed in my life.

M. Mabie and Aly Martinez wrote one hell of a book with When the Walls Come Down. They killed it…and shockingly they didn’t kill or emotionally maim any of their characters off in this book. (Which if you’ve read their books before you know that must not have been an easy feat!) They infused their distinctive voices into writing a book that made me laugh, made me swoon and melt, and that even brought some tears to my eyes.

It was perfection.

Simply put, this book is one of the best books that I have ever had the chance to read.

When the Walls Come Down is a story of endings and beginnings. A story of kismet and serendipity. A story of two people who meet each other at the exact right and wrong time. It is a story of two people who are beyond right for one another, who have the most incredible pull to one another, yet soon find that there is more trying to pull them apart too. This story is about the walls we put up. The physical, emotional, and mental walls that can cage us in if we let them. This book is a story about hard choices, real truths, and all of the feelings and swoon and fire that comes in between.

This book is all about Shane and Maggie, their tangible spark and connection, their utterly incredible journey together, and what happens when those walls that were so thoughtfully crafted start to crack and crumble and come down to reveal what truly could be.

This story is all about Shane and Maggie. Their distinctive voices are infused through every breath of this book and it just gives it such a life, such a personality and vivid feel to it that shines through every word. this book follows Shane and Maggie as they’re both at a crossroads in their lives. It’s the endings and beginnings coming together in so many ways, with their literal spark and connection pulling them closer and closer to one another. From the moment those two meet, they can’t stop seeing one another, they can’t stop wanting to be together, and they can’t stop thinking about what could be. This story allows you to be with them as they take that chance, as they experience that pull, and as they come face to face with the walls that just might be trying to keep them apart.

This book is sweet and funny and light. It is bursting with tangible spark and life with Shane and Maggie. It is a book that will have you swooning and melting and falling more and more for those two with every word you read.

And that is just scratching the surface of what makes this such a special and fantastic story.

What I loved about this book was that it had it all. It had the humor and the banter that was so glorious and that made my cheeks literally hurt because I was laughing and smiling so much with these two as I read their story. I loved that there was such a heat with these characters. Their connection was on fire and was practically palpable through every part of this story. These authors completely brought that to life and that set this book on fire. I loved that even though their story was light and fun and easy in some ways, it also made me and these characters work for it. It had that emotion, it had that heart, it had that perfect amount of struggle that fit this story and these characters and what they were sharing. It was just enough and it was everything to read.

What Aly Martinez and M. Mabie created in this book for Shane and Maggie was spectacular. There’s no way around it. They wrote one hell of a book. They wrote a story that I loved from the very first word. They created characters that I rooted for from those very first pages. They brought me back to a world that I didn’t even realized I missed so much until I was right back in the thick of it. They wrote a love story that stole every part of my heart and that had these characters taking up every emotion and feel I had along the way.

When the Walls Come Down lets these authors’ writing shine. The cohesiveness of their writing, of what they create with Shane and Maggie, and what they allow you to experience with their characters on this serendipitous adventure is nothing short of magical. You can tell through every word of this book that these authors’ truly loved what they were writing, that they loved these characters and they loved what they were creating in this book. That love is so infused into every word. That love and life creates the most effervescent spark through every moment of this book. That love that embodies the writing of this book and the characters it allows you to fall in love with is truly what sets this book apart.

I love that this book not only gave me another opportunity to read words by these authors, but it brought me back to some of their characters that have owned my heart for years. (Let’s just say there was a lot more squealing when those characters I LOVED came back into play with Shane and Maggie!) Getting to be back in these worlds as they collided, getting to be there with Shane and Maggie as they fought for and against what they were feeling, as they felt that glorious push and pull grow and grow, and getting to be there through everything that came their way was nothing short of wonderful.

I just loved Shane and Maggie.

I loved how right they felt together. I loved the spark and fire and chemistry that was there right from the start. I love that everything felt so serendipitous, even in those moments when I wondered how they were going to make it through. I love that I believed in them, that I rooted for them, that my whole heart was in it with them through every turn of that page. I loved that these authors really allowed me to understand and get their characters on the deepest of levels. They let me get why every single thing happened to the way that it did in this story, and they let me be there in those moments as it all changed and as Shane and Maggie took their chance at it all.

I loved that through every word of this book I was with the two of them, taking cracks at those walls, living in the humor and glorious banter filled connection they shared, while fighting and hoping with my whole heart that those two would find a way to figure it all out.

Maggie Light is a girl ready to take on the world. She has dreams and goals, and much to her older brother’s chagrin, she is ready to take them all on with her new adventure that brings her to San Francisco. What she wasn’t expecting was one Shane Warren who makes her question everything she thought she knew and wanted. Maggie is fierce and fun and just real. She is easy to relate to, she is beyond easy to love, and her banter is on a whole different level. She is a girl searching for that new beginning that will bring her closer to the life she’s always wanted and dreamed of, and she isn’t afraid to put in the hard work that’s needed. She is a gem and you will love her right from the start.

Shane Warren is a man who’s been through a lot. After a not so swell time and a divorce that changed everything, he is back on his feet and loving his new life. That is until he’s forced, in a not so subtle way, to realize that he might have just become a little too complacent in that new life he fought so hard for. Enter in Maggie Light, a girl who truly changes it all for him and makes him realize even more the walls that have been caging him in. She keeps him on his toes, and she brings out the heart melting charm that Shane is ready to give. Shane is just the best. He is charming, kind, and real. He is a good guy who is trying to figure out a way to have it all, and you will love getting to be there with him as he makes his way through.

Maggie and Shane are beyond right, and you will love getting to be there with the two of them as they share what they do, as their connection builds to an unforgettable level, as the wrenches are thrown into their plans, and as they try to make their way through. Their story together is light and fun and feels like the best breath of air you’ll feel deep in your soul, yet it is very real, very honest and heartfelt, and it has a level of emotion to it that you won’t soon forget.

What M. Mabie and Aly Martinez created with the two of them will have you loving every word, believing in the two of them with your whole heart, and needing for everything to work out for Shane and Maggie because the rightness of them truly knows no bounds.

When the Walls Come Down is a story that I will never forget reading. This book, Shane and Maggie, and everything they shared made me so inherently happy. It made me believe in rightness of these two, it allowed me to feel every lick of their connection and what they shared, and it had me knowing through every word that I would always keep a part of that Shane and Maggie magic with me.

Aly Martinez and M. Mabie crafted a truly exceptional story in this book. They took two characters who would could not have been more right or more perfect for one another, and they created one hell of a story for them. The magic and literal goodness of them shines through every word of this book, and will have you believing in them with all that you have. Their words were everything. They gave me a story that made me so happy, that made me melt and swoon with the amazingness of Shane and Maggie, and that had me knowing I would never get enough of everything they were creating.

When the Walls Comes Down is a story of the walls we have around ourselves, our hearts, and that can fence us in if we let them. It is a story about what happens when you meet the one person who changes it all and starts taking pieces of those walls down in a way you didn’t even know was possible. It is a story of the literal magic and goodness that can come to your life when you start breaking those walls down (or climbing over them), when you take a leap of faith into the unknown that scares you shitless, and when you see what could be on the other side of that wall.

It is a story of orange TicTacs, magnificent banter, and allllll the murdering one needs (you’ll get that when you read the story!) It’s about late night Amazon shopping, Peach and the Old Man, and even more fantastic nicknames than you can count. It’s especially about the one person who truly makes all the difference and changes everything. It’s about all of that and so much more.

This book is hands down one of the best books I have read this year and ever, and I honestly just feel lucky that I had the chance to read it. M. Mabie and Aly Martinez gave me it all with Shane and Maggie, and I for one will treasure what I got with them. And honestly, I am just counting down the minutes until these authors write together again because I NEED more of their combined words and talents in my life. Stat.

If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh your ass off, that will have you swooning something fierce, that will give you one hell of a love story that will have you believing in everything these characters are sharing, and that will have you loving everything you get the chance to experience….RUN YOURSELF to this book and to Shane and Maggie. It would be wrong not to.

I am telling you, this is the exact book you need in your life this second. It will make you feel it all, it will be a breath of air you didn’t even know you needed, and it will give you one hell of a fireworks show that will have you completely mesmerized and taken from start to finish.

And honestly, that is just part of what makes this such an incredible and unforgettable book, so just do yourself a damn favor and read it. Read it. Love it. Live it all. Laugh it up and melt into the puddle with these two. Take it in and be prepared to never want to let that magic of them go. Enjoy it all because it is truly something you need in your life…and you will love it!
