He’s a billionaire in need of a wife …

And I’m his ex who can’t say no to him.

Ten years ago Carson Knight was my one great love, but he abandoned me without a trace.

Now he’s a billionaire single-dad in need of a temporary wife.

And he’s at my house on one knee with a proposal …

Marry him, so he’s more likely to win full custody of his daughter, keeping her safe from her unstable mother. In return, he’ll take care of the medical expenses for a surgery my father needs to survive.

Reluctantly, I agree to tie the knot, on one condition. Once those custody papers are signed, we go our separate ways. Because he’s even more gorgeous, charming, and sweeter than he was back then, and I don’t trust myself not to fall for my fake husband.

Especially when I hear him say “my wife.”

Or feel his hands on my skin. Taste his kiss or see the way he looks at me with those blue eyes and know that our carefully crafted rules will shatter.

Right alongside my heart.

5 Absolutely Incredible Stars!

Let me start this review by saying that Rowan and Charlotte just might be one of my favorite couples that I have read. There is something truly special about those two. Maybe it’s their banter, maybe it’s their unadulterated, fire and connection, maybe it’s the fact that they always keep each other on their toes, or maybe it’s just the fact That those two feel so inherently right together. Maybe it’s all of that and more. In fact, I think it is all of that, and more because from the very first pages of this book, I was completely enamored by those two. And my love for them grew fiercely through every turn of that page to the point that I was not ready to leave them when this book ended.

Those two just completely stole my heart in every single way possible.

Tempting Promises was a consuming, exceptionally written, and crafted, and utterly fantastic romance book that I could not put down. This book took a hold of me with everything it had from those very first pages and I couldn’t get enough. I was completely consumed with these characters, their banter, the buildup between them, the forced proximity goodness that pushes those to right past their breaking point, and everything that came after. Coupled with the small town goodness that completely owns my heart with this world and this family, and I was smitten. I was just in love with everything I was reading and experiencing with these characters, and it was the best.

The absolute best.

Corinne Michael’s creates an outstanding connection and fire between Rowan and Charlotte. When I tell you that it is palpable and tangible, and so thick in this book, I mean it with my whole being. Those two don’t like each other, but they really do. And when they are forced in a cabin together for multiple days, they solve a lot of their problems. And create a few more at the same time. Their unadulterated connection and fire to one another finally breaks, and it makes them see each other completely differently. Things they thought they knew are no longer there. Things they weren’t prepared to feel are suddenly there, full force. But more than that these two realize that they may have had each other all wrong and that they might just be exactly what they need.

Now let me tell you, I live for a good enemies to lovers story. Especially when the banter is top-notch, and that is what Rowan and Charlotte shared in this book. Those two definitely know how to push each other‘s buttons. They’re competing farm owners, they have a path that connects them in more ways than one, but they also just don’t like each other. But they also kind of do. There is such a respect between them, and I love how that came out across the story. These two definitely push each other pass that edge, and it leads to some very spicy and fiery moments. They keep telling each other throughout this book that this time will be the last time, but the more times they have, the more they realize that there is something truly real and authentic between them. And that thing might scare the living crap out of them, but it is real, and it is there, and it is genuine and it is everything.

Charlotte and Rowan were two incredibly amazing characters.

I loved how headstrong Charlotte was, I loved how tenacious she was, and I loved that she was not afraid to call Rowan on his bullshit. I also just loved that. She had so much heart and she was just trying to find her place in the world, while saving the farm that meant everything to her and her family. She was a woman who just wanted somebody to stay and to believe in her, and I loved getting to see her fight with all of her might through every page of this book and work her ass off to find herself, her place, and her love in this world. I love that girl with my whole heart, and I just love the fact that this book brought her what it did, because no one deserves all of the happiness in the world more than she does.

Rowan was a gem and let me tell you I love that man. I love that he’s just a good man. I loved that he is also not afraid to keep Charlotte on her toes and be there for her, even when she tries to push him away. I also just love that that man is tenacious in his own way, he cares about family, and he isn’t afraid to keep fighting, or to keep showing up. He is in it for the long-haul, and even though he starts off this book, doubting he will ever have a forever or a relationship, he soon realizes that with a right person, everything can change. And when he realizes that, he commits to it with his full heart, and every ounce of passion within him, and it is epic and amazing to experience.

I also just have to say that one of my favorite things about this couple, and everything they share is that it just felt very real and grown up. They face their fair share of issues, both with themselves and each other, and they handle them in a very real way. They don’t run away from their problems, they face them head on. They make decisions that are thoughtful and are emotional, but that also feel very real. Sure they are human and they make mistakes and things are complicated, but they also aren’t afraid to own up to their part of things and aren’t afraid to make the right choice and the hard decisions, especially when the stakes are high. I loved that about them and I really respected that because even though they love to push each other‘s buttons, in the same breath I know that they are also committed to being there for one another, and handling things in the way they should be. In a way that leads either the heart, and is as tenacious as they are. That coupled with the fact that everything between Rowan and Charlotte felt so right just meant that I loved them even more fiercely with everything they gave me.

Getting to be with these two as they go from enemies to lovers to so much more was phenomenal. My heart was with these two feeling and living and experiencing every breath of what they give each other, and I just loved it. I loved how connected I felt to them, I loved how real it all felt, and I just loved how these two never stopped keeping each other on their toes, wanting each other, but also fighting like hell for each other, and for what could be. I loved and respected them both with my whole heart, and every fiber of my being, and I was so beyond invested in those two finding the happily ever after that, they both deserved. I needed them to get there, because they just deserved it. They deserved all of the happiness and love and elation and warmth and fire that comes with finding the one person who changes everything. And I lived for every opportunity in this book that brought them both closer and closer to finding that with each other.

Experiencing that with them in this book was truly everything. And more.

Those two might have been a little worried about what that future could bring them, but they were always there for one another, especially when it mattered. I think that’s one of the things I loved, and respected so much about them. They were always willing to stand up for each other and be there for each other when it counted. And even when no one was watching, they were still there for each other because they knew that is what the other needed and that that was what they had to do. And I absolutely relish in that with them.

The love that grows between these characters is built on fire and banter and pure heart. That shines through every word this author creates, and it emanates with these characters and what they share together. It is beautiful and funny and intoxicating, and just consuming in every way to experience what you get with Rowan and with Charlotte.

And I have to say that just being back in this world, with all of these characters, in this small town, and in this family, that cares so deeply for one, another, was just the perfect place to be. I could read this series forever and ever, and I would never get enough of all of these characters, and what they allow me to get and feel with them along the way. They just make everything feel like so much more. They make me feel part of their family. They make me Feel like I am right there with them and it is truly everything to experience that with them.

If you love a small town romance, that is well written, that is consuming in every single way possible, and that will show you just how thin the line between love and hate is, then you need to run yourself to this book as soon as humanly possible. If you love a romance book that will give you two very real, dynamic, and complicated characters that will steal your heart from the very first pages, then you will live and love every second of this book. if you just love a phenomenal love story that gives you characters who find their way through any obstacle together, who continuously show up at all times, and who are ready and willing to fight for themselves and each other, then you need this book in your life this very second.

Trust me.

This entire book, this entire series, and every morsel of this world makes my heart so abundantly happy. That is a true testament to the level of connection and vibrancy and life, and love that this author infuses into every character, into every moment, and into every love story. Tempting Promises was another shining example of why Corinne Michaels is one of my favorite authors. She leaves it all on the pages of her books, she connects you with her characters in every way, possible, and she just has you utterly in love with everything you get with them. The good, the bad, the complicated, the banter, the connection and fire, and all the glorious spiciness; this author puts you in the thick of it, and it is glorious. She gives you real complicated characters who can’t help but feel everything for one another, and you will love getting to be on every step of their journey to finding that happily ever after. She will have you enamored with them, and everything between them, and you will love it.

You will love it so so much. I know I did.

I am so sad to know that this series is coming to an end with the next book, but in the same breath, I just can’t wait to be back within this world. That is how much I love all of these characters, how much I love what this author creates with them, and how I truly cannot get enough of their stories of finding love. This family has had a go of it, but each book in this series heals them all a little bit more and shows them that anything is possible if you keep your heart open to all of the possibilities… And to the right person. I loved every single thing about this book, and I have no doubt that this author will bring this entire series to a close, in the most fitting way, because this family, this series, and this world has been utterly unforgettable from the start, and I have no doubt they will be through the very end.

Releasing Now: Broken Dreams (Whitlock Family #2) by Corinne Michaels

Broken Dreams by Corinne Michaels is now live!

What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town?

The answer, you fall for him.

It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding.

We had a plan. It was a good one.

Until it wasn’t.

I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close. I especially wasn’t going to melt when I saw him play with my daughter.

Most of all I was not going to sleep with him.

Nope. None of that was supposed to happen, but it does.

Now I find myself dreaming of him every night. Wishing we were really a couple because the way he kisses me doesn’t feel as if it’s pretend.

But we’ve both watched our dreams shatter, and I can’t handle another broken heart.

5 Absolutely Perfect Stars

Corinne Michaels always writes the perfect romance. End of. I can always count on her to deliver an emotional, sweet, spicy, and unforgettable romance no matter what book of hers I am reading. I have a literally read all of her books and I have loved every single one. They are some of my all-time favorites. They are truly my happy place. They are what make me so happy, and so grateful that I am a romance reader,m because the love stories and the characters and the emotions and the heart that she so authentically creates, is truly perfect.

Broken Dreams was perfection.

It was everything that I have come to love and expect from this author times 10. It was beautiful and sweet and spicy as hell. It was a story that my heart was immediately in right from the start. It was a book built on the idea that a second chance at love after what feels like insurmountable loss can truly be possible with the right person. It was a story filled with so many incredible characters that have given me all of the feels in so many books, and I truly basked in every second with them all. It was a story of two people who feel just a little bit broken, or a lot at times, but who realize that the other might just be the key to healing after all that they’ve gone through.

This was a story of two people finding each other at the exact right time. This was a beautiful story of something that started off as pretend, but quickly became something. Oh so very real. This is a story of two people finding their way back to themselves, while falling heart first in love with one another.

Corinne Michael’s always delivers the feels. I can always count on her to drown me in them and I love it. I love that her books make me so happy. I love that her books make me feel everything. I love that her books allow me to experience everything with her characters, so authentically and so deeply. I love that her characters are so honest and real. They are complicated and flawed and real, and I love that about them. I love that I can get them and understand them. I love that I believe in them, and that I want to root for them with all that I have because they’re such good people. I love that the way that Corinne Michaels creates them and allows me to connect to them, brings out all of those feelings and emotions through every single page of her books.

Broken Dreams allowed me to experience all of that with Grady and Addison in the best way. Now I have gotten a taste of these characters through other books in this world and in other books by this author. So I was ready to see what could be for two single parents trying to find love after loss. And the thing was, they weren’t really looking for love. I mean they kind of were, at least Addison was, but they kind of weren’t because this book finds them at crossroads in their lives.

They both lost their spouses. They’re both on the precipice of very big things. They’re both trying to heal and make their way through the world of emotion and processing that happens after the loss of your spouse. They’re both trying to find their way, and in the midst of that they find each other. What starts out as something pretend for them soon becomes very real and deep and something unexpected. It’s something that keeps them on their toes. It’s something that knocks them down in the best way and shows them that the other is worth fighting for; that they are worth fighting for. It’s something that takes them so far from where they started and scares them out of their minds. It’s something that makes them want something they didn’t think was ever possible again.

All of that combined with their unforgettable connection, and their hearts that are so pulled to one another, and you’re really just scratching the surface of what made everything with Addison and Grady so phenomenal.

I just love those two. I loved how real they are with one another. I love how they get it. I loved how they get each other and their journeys and how they just always seemed to understand. Even in those really hard and complicated moments, they got it because they’re going through it together and they’ve been through it. The way that they see each other in such a real and authentic way was beautiful. It really was.

I also just have to say that the respect and love that they show for each other’s late spouses was truly so meaningful and heartfelt. Each of these characters had many moments in this book where they thought about, or talked about, or brought up their late spouse, and it was never an issue. Nor should it have been, but I just love how this author showed that both Grady and Addison understood all of these nuances with each other. They understood that it meant something to keep their memories alive. They understood that there would be moments where they would feel complicated things because of what they’ve gone through. They understood that there would be moments where the past would come up and they would have to figure it out, and wade their way through all of those feelings and emotions. They understood with each other that grief is a complicated nonlinear journey that isn’t always easy, but they were committed to being there for one another us, friends, and as more, and that was everything to get and experience.

Throw in the fact that they are two of the best parents around, with some seriously cute kids, and so much connection, and I was smitten. I loved how much these two loved their kids, how much their worlds revolves around their kids, and how committed they were to doing the best for their kids and family. I was truly just enamored with them, and every bit of build up with them was so worth it because boy do those two share some firework level heat when they are together. And the way they push each other to that edge, the way they build each other up, and the way they take you along with them as they crash over is truly unforgettable.

This book truly had it all. It had the romance. It had the fire and connection. It had two single parents finding each other and building something they didn’t think could be real, but that they soon find is so real that it could truly give them everything. It had so much emotion and feels and heart. It was woven so beautifully throughout every part of the story and the way that Corinne, Michaels brings it all to life is truly outstanding. She allows you to breathe it all in and feel it all, and practically touch it all with how real she makes it and not just amplifies everything you get with these characters.

It also had so many moments that I could have just lived in forever. Moments that made me laugh, moments that were so sweet, moments that were spicy as hell, and moments that just showed that these characters were so beyond right for each other. Grady and Addison give each other things that truly help heal them and complete them. Getting to go along with the two of them as they try to find their way and create something new out of something that was once broken was absolutely incredible. It was everything my heart needed, and this author delivered it in the best way. I truly cannot say that enough.

This book and their story and their love and getting everything with them was perfection.

I seriously love the world of this book and getting to be with these characters for 300+ pages was a treat. I also seriously loved how this book and this world are bringing so many other characters from this author’s other books together. It truly makes my heart happy to see them all, and I want every characters book in all of these worlds. I think that speaks to what this author creates with her characters that no matter how many times I’ve read her books and no matter how many more characters and towns, and stories I get, I just want more. And not only do I want more, but I want more with all of my favorite former characters from all her other books along for the ride.

Simply put, I loved Broken Dreams with my whole heart.

I loved everything that Grady and Addison shared together. I loved what they were willing to take a chance on and what that could mean for them and the family they wanted to create. I loved getting to go along with them as they pretended what they shared was fake, but as they realized that there was absolutely nothing fake about what they felt for one another. I loved the heart of this book. I loved the dynamics and the relationships, and just all of the boisterous characters that make this small town a place I always want to be a part of. I loved the moments that made me laugh until my cheeks hurt, the moments that had me blushing,m something fierce, and the moments that had me knowing that these characters needed to find a way. Throw in the fact that these characters are part of a larger family and town and world that I will literally never get enough of, and I was absolutely in love with everything I was reading.

I just loved this book, and I absolutely loved and treasured and basked in every second with Grady and Addison. Those two are kind of the best. And Corinne Michaels does the two of them justice in their story. These two show that a second chance can bring you unimaginable joy and happiness if you allow yourself to take a chance. These two show you in every way through their story that they are very real, that they are so meant to be, and that new dreams can be just as beautiful and just as fulfilling and just as magical as the ones you thought were broken so long ago. I promise that you will love getting all that you do with them, and in the end, you will just be so happy for what you were able to experience and feel with them along the way.

Trust me when I say, there is no resisting the pool of these two and what they give one another. You will treasure every bit of what you get with them and their kids and their friends and their family and this small town of amazingness. But most of all, you will just love what they are able to create and share together. Because it is truly the best, it is beyond meaningful and beautiful and heartfelt, and most of all, it is another perfect love story from Corinne Michaels.

Happy 10 Year Blogiversary, The Never Ending Book Basket!

Ten years ago I started this book blog.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I really can’t believe it. Ten years have flown by and here we are. Still shouting the book love, still buying way more books that I can possibly ever read, and still grateful each and every day that this blog has brought me to the absolute best community of book loving people.

This book blog started with a simple idea and a question. Driving home from my brand new big girl job, I thought about how I would love to connect with others who loved books as much as I did. Especially those spicy romance books that I had recently begun falling so fiercely in love with. That led to the question, what if I start a book blog? And thus, The Never Ending Book Basket was born.

And 10 years later it’s still here.

10 years later I’m still here reading all the spicy romance books. 10 years later I’m still here supporting the incredible indie romance book community. 10 years later I’m still here with the best book people and support system a girl could ask for. 10 years later I’m still here with all my books and a heart that is so full from all this blog and its community have given me over the last decade.

So much and so little has changed in the last 10 years of this book blog. When I first started this blog, I used to post at least once a month, if not more. As time went on and as life got crazier, that regularity fell to the wayside. But this book blog was always my happy place, my safe place, no matter how little or how much I’ve posted. (Special shout-out to all of you for sticking with me through all those times of regular posting to what basically felt like me ghosting everyone. 🤣)

This is a picture of the OG Never Ending Book Basket…a lot has changed in 10 years!

Ten years ago, I started with just one little basket of unread books, and now I have more unread books than I ever thought possible. (And they definitely don’t fit in a basket anymore!) I’ve gone semi-viral for getting banned for reviewing on Amazon and talking about books that’ve emotionally murdered me. Over the years this blog (and I!) have joined new social media platforms, bought a shit ton of books (and I do mean a shit ton), done hundreds of giveaways, talked about hundreds, if not thousands of amazing books, and I’ve truly loved every damn second of it all.

Ten years later, and I’m still here, obsessed with spicy romance books, proud to be a little part of this book community with this book blog, and beyond excited to see what the next ten years will bring.

But most of all, I’m just so thankful and grateful for these last ten years and what this book blog and book community have so graciously given me. I never knew how much I needed this book world and its incredible people until I was in it, experiencing the true magic of it. The people, the books, the way this community shows up for each other, and just the love of books and love stories that exists is truly the best.

The. Absolute. Best.

Simply put, starting this book blog changed my life.

When I first started this book blog I was fresh out of college, 22, and in the midst of that phase where you really try to figure out what the hell you want to do and who you really are. I was also stuck in a not so great position at my job with some very toxic people, and was looking for something, anything really, that could bring me a little bit of joy. Books had always brought me joy, and in a season of life when I desperately needed that, I found myself in this new community with a new book blog, ready to see what I could find. What I found was the indie romance book community. And it is that wonderful and amazing community, this book blog, and the incredible people I’ve met along the way that truly changed everything.

So yeah, this book blog changed my life.

It changed my life completely.

And I will be forever grateful for that.

I will be forever grateful for the people who I’ve connected with through this book blog and community who have become lifelong friends, who have become my people.

I will be forever grateful for the amazing and incredible and absolutely wonderful authors, bloggers, narrators, editors, readers, and humans I have met and worked with in the last 10 years through this blog.

I will be forever grateful for the opportunities this blog has allowed me this last decade and the experiences it’s given me.

This is what my unread pile of books looks like today. (And no this isn’t all of them.) There’s still a basket, but SO many unread books!

I will be forever grateful that I found a place in this world that truly feels like home, where loving books, buying books, and shouting the love of books and fictional characters from the rooftops is not only accepted, it’s celebrated.

I will be forever grateful that I found myself connected to other readers that know a book can truly change your life.

I will be forever grateful for the absolutely unforgettable stories that have owned my heart and soul these last 10 years of book blogging.

I will be FOREVER grateful to every single person who has chatted with me about books, asked for a recommendation, tuned in for a live giveaway, supported my page and me, but most of all, who have shown up for me and this book blog time and time again.

I will be forever grateful that I found my people, my happy place, and where I was always meant to be in this world through this little ole book blog of mine.

I am SO very grateful and I can’t say it enough.

Clay Johnson

Let me tell you about life-changing moments. The catalyst for mine was standing on a street in New York City, watching the girl I was falling for jump into the arms of another man. Did she know I was there? No. At first I was shocked, then I was angry, for months. Because of this, I finally said, “No more.” No more being second place in my band, with my family, with my friends, or with the women I date. I’ve had enough, and I deserve better. I deserve to be first. The only problem is I can’t escape the girl or her bubbly personality. She’s everywhere I don’t want her to be and trying her best to work her way back into my good graces, which I refuse to allow. I made that mistake once, and I’m never going there again. Ever.

Emma White

I’ve always believed my loyalty to those I love is one of my greatest strengths. If I say I’m in, I’m in and will go down with a sinking ship. Unfortunately, over the last year, I wasn’t just sinking, I was drowning, drowning in a life I had committed to but no longer wanted. Instead, I dreamed of Clay. Clay with his arms that knew just how to hold me, his lips that instantly ignited swarms of butterflies when they touched mine, and eyes that always spoke volumes whenever they were aimed my way. The problem is, he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with me. I don’t blame him, but I won’t be deterred. The heart wants what the heart wants, and mine wants him. I’ll do whatever it takes. He’s worth it. I’m worth it. I just need him to give me a second chance to prove it.

*****5 Absolutely Amazing Stars*****

They say good things come to those who wait, and boy is that true. I have been waiting 8 years for this book. 8 years longing for Clay & Emma. 8 years desperate wanting more of this world. I have waited for Kathryn Andrews to bring us back to this beautiful world that I have always wanted more of. I have waited and hoped that she would bring us back to this small town full of incredible and dynamic characters that I have loved and rooted for from the start. I have waited and dreamed of what Clay and Emma’s story might entail after getting a sneak peek of them in the first book in this series. I have waited and wanted this book, this story, and this world fiercely, and let me tell y’all…it was well worth the wait.

I would gladly wait another 8 years to get such an amazing story of second chances, music, longing and heart, and so much love and friendship.

Kathryn Andrews completely delivered in White Horizons. She left her heart and soul on the pages of this book and it shows with Clay and Emma and everything they so authentically give you. The music those two create, the magic that exists between them, and the beauty of the two of them and their hearts is utterly incredible and unforgettable.

Trust me when I say that they are worth the wait.

They are worth the longing and angst that exists between them as they reconnect after things went so wrong the first time they were together. They are worth every bit of heartbreak and hurt that exists for them as they try to put themselves and each other back together again. They are worth every bit of hard work and fight these two have as they realize that there is still something beyond worth fighting for between them. They are worth every bit of fire and attraction that exists between them that pulls them together like two strong as hell magnets every time they even think about one another. They are worth every hurdle and step of their second chance at being together and seeing what could be between them. They are worth all of the feelings and heart and love that is right on the surface just waiting for the chance to blossom with the two of them.

They are worth everything.

Clay and Emma are the best. Truly. They are the epitome of the beauty that exists in second chances. They show through every page of their story that they are not only worth it, but that they are so meant to be. They show the world, but more importantly each other, that they may have made mistakes with their relationship in the past, but that they are both committed to showing up for one another and fixing what went wrong because they know there is something there. They know that they can’t stop thinking about one another. They know that their love and what it could bring between them is beautiful and scary and heartfelt and just what they both might need. They know that even after a rocky start and a lot of hurdles thrown their way, they have to find a way to make it work because they are meant to be.

Simply put, Clay and Emma’s story in White Horizons is what the best second chance romances are made of. The longing, the angst, the hurt and feels, the hard fought road back to one another, the fiery connection and pull, the heart and love, coupled with the rightness of these two shows on every page how right they truly are for one another. You will feel that and believe in that through every single word of this book.

Trust me when I say that you will need it all with Clay and Emma, and the way that Kathryn Andrews brings it all to life is truly amazing. Her words give life and heart and vibrancy to every part of these two and every part of what they share. That makes this story so authentic, so compelling, and so beautiful. She just makes everything between them feel so real, so special, and so beautiful. She infuses so much heart into every second with Clay, Emma, and all of the other incredible characters of this world and it makes for one of the best books I have read this year that you feel every breath of.

Like I said at the start of this review, I have been in love with this world of characters for over 8 years. I really can’t say enough how happy it made me to be back with them all. It felt like coming home, back to a place where I truly never want to leave. There is just something special about the Horizons Valley and the people in it. This world has such great dynamic characters that I love with my whole heart. The way they’re all connected, the way they all love and live music, and the way they are all there for one another is truly the best. I can’t wait for all of the stories from this world because I need them all. As soon as humanly possible.

Kathryn Andrews truly outdid herself in White Horizons. She created and delivered an amazing, all-feeling, and unforgettable second chance love story between two characters who are so meant to be. She created a story that made me laugh, made me feel it all, made me blush, made me cry, and that made me believe in the true reconnection of two hearts and souls that complete one another.

Her words brought everything with Clay and Emma to life in a way that I know I won’t soon forget. She not only had me believing in them and their second chance at love with my whole heart, she had me knowing that those two could and would find their way no matter what. She had me knowing that the power and connection and tenacity of those two was on a whole different level, and that’s just part of what made them so special. She also had me wanting and needing those two to find their way something fierce because there was just something so inherently beautiful and right about them and their connection. From the very first page of this book I needed it all with Clay and Emma, and Kathryn Andrews delivered that in spades.

She delivered it all in White Horizons.

If you love a good love story, if you love a story with music, if you love a story with second chances, if you love a story with a ton of heart, feels, and connection, if you love a small town romance with so many unforgettable characters, and if you love a story of two people fighting like hell to find their way, you will LOVE this book. If you just love a damn good love story, you will love this book. If you love a story that makes you feel it all and believe in the power and possibilities of one more chance, then you will love this book with your whole heart.

I promise you that.

Clay and Emma will steal your heart and have you believing in the two of them and all that could be between them from page one…and it just gets better and better from there. Trust me. Those two are ready to wow you with their hearts, their vibrancy, their music, their moments, and their love in this book. They are ready to show you that this time they will find their way and that this time they will make it work, even if they have a few hurdles along the way. They are ready to show you that their connection and pull to one another cannot be fought or denied, and that they will do whatever it takes to show you and each other that this is it, that this is their moment, and that they are endgame.

You will love every second, word, and page with these two. I finished their story weeks again and I still can’t stop thinking about them and all they gave me with their story. They are just that good, that memorable, and that incredible and beautiful together. Their story was beyond worth the wait and I’m just so glad Kathryn Andrews gave us Clay and Emma. They truly were the best and I cannot wait for the next time I’m in Horizons Valley because I want everything from this world and these characters!!

This series is one of my faves for a reason, and White Horizons was the perfect addition to it. It adds another layer of love to a world that I already can’t get enough of and it gives you two characters who are ready to show you that second chances are not only real, but they’re worth believing in and rooting for. Clay and Emma leave their hearts and souls on the pages of this book as they find their way back to each other and it is beautiful and incredible and amazing.

It’s just everything. Just like the two of them.

And they were well worth the wait.

Hart
I was nine when I met my best friend.
With her sparkling green eyes, brown hair and kind soul, she completely stole my heart.
I was fifteen when I fell in love with her.
Seventeen when she became my everything.
And nineteen when I lost her.
Now, five years later, the girl from my past is a woman standing in front of me telling me that we share more than just memories.

****4 Fantastic Stars****

Written in the Ink by SM Broad was second chance, romance goodness. This book was angsty, it was passionate, it was emotional, it was sweet, it was spicy, and it was everything in between. There is a reason I love this trope, and this author delivered it in a fantastic way. She lays it all out on the pages of this book with Diem and Hart, and I enjoyed every single second of it.

This is the first book I’ve ever read by this author, and I just have to say that I really enjoyed her writing style. Her words made it so easy to jump right into the story. I loved that she showed these characters at so many critical points in their life in a way that really connected me to them. Her words and the way she allowed me to experience them also really added to what I got with these characters. I felt connected to them. I felt like I understood them. I felt like I was living and feeling their story with them. I felt like I understood them and more than that I felt so much care and heart for them. I think that’s a true testament to what she creates that I felt that throughout this book with both Hart and Diem and Bronx, and so many of the other fantastic characters of this world.

If you love a story that has a lot of heart, that takes place over years of time, that gives you a second chance, romance that you will feel so much of, then you’ll enjoy this book. Thrown in with some fiery connection, and some serious spice, this book shows that second chances really do exist, and that soulmates will always find their way back to one another. Hart and Diem proves that through every page of this book. They show that even the mistakes of the past and present can’t keep two people meant to be apart. They show that they are each other’s haves, and that the whole they make together is beautiful and perfect and just about everything.

I consumed this book in one sitting, and I think that’s what this author create but you just want everything with these characters. You want to see them find their way back to one another. You want to see them build a family together. You want to see them feel more of that connection and love together. You want to be in their world with these memorable friends and family members. You want Just more of everything. This author definitely invests you in it and it’s fantastic to experience.

Overall, I really loved this book. I enjoyed these characters, I lived for the journey they went on together, and I loved how this author allowed me to experience every bit and every twist. Intern, that came these characters way. I definitely hope she plans to write more from this world, because I already want so many more stories from these characters, but I also just have hopes of seeing these characters again. The family that is created between Hart and Diem and Bronx melted my heart, and it just made me so happy getting to go along with them as they found their way together. Their love story definitely put you through the ringer a bit, but trust me when I say that it’s worth it.

Those two are definitely meant to be, are written in the stars and all the ink, and the truth of that shines on every single page of this fantastic book.

If you love, emotional books, second chance romances, and stories that follow characters from childhood to adulthood with every piece in between, then you’ll love this book. If you love a good romance, you will enjoy this book. If you love a story that just allows you to get so much with characters and feel so much, then you will love this book. If you love, a love story between two characters that are perfect for one another, then you must read this book.

Trust me, when I say that Written in the Ink is a book that you need in your life this second. It is well written, it is consuming in every way, and it has a beautiful and endearing love story that will own you from start to finish. But more than that it has two characters who are willing and ready to give you everything they have during their incredible second chance at love.

And that? Well that is just the best and makes for a truly good reading experience. I got all of that and more in Written in the Ink with Hart and Diem, and I really can’t say enough how much I enjoyed every single step with those two as they found their way back to one another and back into each other’s hearts.

Review Post: A Wild Heart by Amie Knight

A Wild Heart, an all-new single mom second chance standalone romance full of heat and emotion from USA Today bestselling author Amie Knight is available now!

I lost a huge piece of myself the day my husband was killed in action.
In the months that followed, I felt like my grief would swallow me whole.
My only solace was my daughter, whose bright light guided me through the darkest of times.

I never wanted to meet someone else.
I vowed to never fall in love again, especially with a marine.

It was supposed to be no strings attached and for a while it was.
But Weston Reeves’s grumpy soul called to my tortured one.
Maybe it was the midnight rides on his bike or the way that only I could make him smile.
He lit me up, set my body afire, and for the first time in five years made me feel alive.

Our relationship was probably the worst gamble I’d ever taken.
But my stupid, wild heart needed him, even if our love was destined to burn me to ashes.

My Review

5 AMAZING STARS

Amie Knight continues to be one of my all-time favorite authors who consistently delivers some of the most exceptional stories that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Her books own me heart and soul. They take hold of every single one of my emotions, allow me to feel and live and experience everything with her dynamic characters, and give me unforgettable love stories along the way. Her books are truly the best, and the way that she so thoughtfully and purposefully crafts her words elevates every one of her books and characters and moments to the next level.

Simply put, Amie Knight is an author who I can always count on to create a romantic, all-feeling love story that will blow me away from start to finish.

A Wild Heart was no different.

In fact, this might be my new favorite of all of her books because this story…this story was PHENOMENAL. It was deeply emotional and raw. It was spicy as hell. It was captivating in a way that felt so authentic and real. It was heartfelt in a way that truly made everything mean so much more. It was layered and so well put together that it had me crying and laughing and melting and utterly consumed from page to page. From beginning to end it created a reading experience and story that I will truly never forget and will honestly treasure forever.

A Wild Heart was everything and more.

I loved every single second and word and paragraph and moment that I got with Emily and Weston. Those two definitely know how to show you that a second chance at love is possible, and more than that, that a second chance at love can bring you everything you didn’t even know you wanted if you keep your heart open to it. Those two definitely put you through the wringer a bit, but they also show you that they have to find their way to be together. They show you that they are two halves of a whole that needs to be put together for the rest of time. Those two have a very special way of showing you that they are meant to be.

Emily and Weston show you and themselves throughout the events of this book that they might’ve had an unconventional start, they might both be fighting the hurt and anguish of the past, they might both be fighting against what’s building between them, and they might both be wondering what in the hell they’re doing and if it’s all worth it, but they also show you that they are beyond worth it.

They show you that they’re both worth fighting for.

They show you that they are about to turn each other’s worlds upside down in ways they didn’t even think were possible. .

They show you that a second chance at love can truly give you the world if you let it.

They show you that family and friendship are everything, and that those are the people who will pull you through even the darkest of days.

They show you that the one person you never expected, the one person you never even wanted, might just be the one person who can heal you and put you back together again.

They show you that what they feel and build and share together is nothing short of everything.

What I loved about Emily and Weston is they had both been through so much, so they both knew what was at stake. They both knew what was happening between them was so very real. (Even when they tried to deny it to themselves and others.) They were both fighting like hell to try to heal and keep it together, all while feeling something so true and vulnerable that it scared them out of their hearts. Throughout this entire book you get to be a part of their journey together as they heal from their pasts, as they see if a future together is possible, and as they feel every bit of that fiery pull and connection to one another that they just can’t quit. (No matter how hard they might try.)

I truly can’t get enough of this book and what I got with these dynamic and unforgettable characters. A Wild Heart is one of the best books I have read this year and will definitely be going down as one of my top reads of the year. Amie Knight wrote a book that lets her talent as an author and storyteller shine on every page, and that shows again and again that she is an author to be reckoned with. Her words truly owned every one of my emotions from start to finish, and she gave me a story that I will absolutely treasure for the rest of time.

This book checked all the boxes for me.

It was deeply and meaningfully emotional. It was exceptionally written and crafted in a way that felt so real, so true and honest, and in a way that seared my heart and soul to these characters. This book gave me two characters who fought like hell against what they felt, but who I also knew right from the start had to be together. This story gave me a relationship between a mother and a daughter that truly touched every part of my heart. This story gave me friends and family who were willing to do it all for those they cared about. This story gave me such fire between all of these characters and such glorious possibilities of what could be.

A Wild Heart made me feel like I was watching and experiencing the most mesmerizing firework display that could be. It was captivating as hell. It was full of glorious color and vibrancy. It was beaming with personality and life that left a tangible spark. It left me in awe and just ready for more. From start to finish I was enamored with it all and blown away by what those fireworks delivered with these characters.

It was truly the best.

This book brought me back to a world that I fell in love with so long ago. It’s a world that brought me to Amie Knight and her writing, and it’s a world that I will forever be grateful for because of that. Amie Knight brings you back to the world of her Hearts Series in a way that is fresh, meaningful, and heartfelt. She finds the absolute best balance of giving you a new all-feeling love story and set of incredible characters, while also connecting into the stories and characters that have come before it that make this series what it is. The way that it all comes together equally makes it a great trip back to the most amazing world and series, while also being a phenomenal new chapter that’s a great place to start for new readers.

I think that speaks to Amie Knight and what she creates with her stories and characters that you get all of that and more in this book. She truly leaves it all on the pages of this book and it makes for a love story that you will never want to have end. It makes for a love story that you will believe in with all that you have and that will have you knowing that that heart will get what they heart wants because there is no other possibility.

A Wild Heart was consuming, full of fire and connection, and had more emotion and heart than you can shake a stick at. It gives you Emily and Weston in the most authentic and meaningful way from start to finish, and I am telling you that you will love it and them. All of the dynamics and relationships and emotions explored in this book will pull you fiercely to these characters, and that is everything. It’s really more than everything because this author just makes it all mean so much more, and honestly, this review is just scratching the surface of how much I love this book.

Amie Knight brings it all to this emotionally charged story of a second chance at love that will bring these characters everything they never thought was possible again. Through every turn of this page in this book you will fall deeper and deeper in love with them, what they’re creating together, and what they do to one another. By the end of it all you will know in your heart and soul that they are the exact one the other didn’t even know they were looking for, but that they so vehemently needed. When it all comes together, you will truly be in awe of the beauty and heart you get with these two and it will own you and all of your emotions. Trust me on that.

A Wild Heart was absolutely incredible and is a book you need in your life as soon as humanly possible. Trust. Me. Amie Knight is at her best in this book and you will love what she gives you with her words and characters. You will be in love with it all and will honestly just bask in the romance, heat, heart, and emotion of it all, while simultaneously knowing with your whole heart that Emily and Weston are two souls who will give each other (and you!) everything.

Simply put, you need this book, these characters, and this story in your life. So just do yourself a favor and read it. Read it, live it, experience it, and love it all with Emily and Weston. You won’t regret it. I can promise you that, and in the end you will get one of the best love stories that will give you it all. And it truly doesn’t get better than that.

Excerpt

“I just came by to say that a couple of weeks ago was a mistake and it can’t happen again.” I chewed on my bottom lip.
What in the ever-loving hell was wrong with me?
His lip twitched as I heard what sounded like a snort come from his nose. Then he turned away from me and headed back into his stupid garage.
“Did you just snort at me?” I shrieked.
This time he shook his head and chuckled low, completely ignoring me, and went back to work on his bike like I wasn’t even there.
And because I was completely insane, I followed him into that garage and stood a foot from him. “Did you hear what I said? I said it was a mistake. The whole thing. The entire night.”
He nodded, not even looking up from his bike. “I heard you, babe.”
I swung back on the heels of my sneakers. “Well, good.” I turned on those same heels to get out of there like the fires of hell were licking at them.
“But that ain’t why you came all the way out here,” he said so lowly I almost didn’t hear him.
I turned, staring at him even as he continued to ignore me for tinkering with something on his bike. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” he said, standing up and finally looking at me. “You didn’t come over here just to tell a one-night stand the whole thing was a mistake.” He prowled toward me slowly, still cleaning his hands with that rag nonchalantly like he wasn’t coming toward me like a lion stalking its prey.
And I’d somehow managed to corner myself in the back of his garage, as far away as possible from the garage opening. Still, I raised my chin and straightened my spine. “Why the hell did I come all the way out here then?” I started walking myself backward even though I was putting on a brave face.
Tell me. Tell me why I came all the way out here and give it to me. Make me forget.
When he’d finally cornered me in the garage right next to what appeared to be the door to enter his house, he smiled like the cat that ate the canary and my skin prickled even as I felt my nipples harden beneath my shirt.
Oh, God.
He dropped the dirty rag and brought his hands up on either side of my head, caging me in against the wall. “Come on, baby.” He ran his nose down the length of mine and my breath caught. “We both know why you came here.”
I lifted my chin in pretend defiance when all I wanted to do was lick the seam of his gorgeous, supple lips.
“Hmmm, what did I come here for then?” I whispered, feeling dizzy and hot, a deep ache between my legs that I’d never felt before.
He smelled like motor oil and soap and God, it took everything in my power not to grind against his leg that was pushed between mine.
He gave me a barely there smile that never quite met his eyes. “You came here because you missed me,” he growled, moving further into my body even though I’d thought we were as close as two people would get.
My nipples rubbed against his chest and I could feel his heart beating against my own. Our breaths mingled as I trembled against him, but he was wrong. I hadn’t missed him. But I had missed this.
I gave him a smile of my own as I moved my hand between us and rubbed the hard length of him, squeezing at the base. “Oh, honey, I haven’t missed you a bit, but I have missed him.”
A low chuckle echoed throughout the garage that sent goose bumps across my skin before, suddenly, my body was turned, my front pushed crudely against the wall until I was forced to turn my face to the side to avoid hurting my nose.
I panted, my heart thundering wildly in my chest. He was right. This was what I’d come for. The feeling of floating. Being weightless. The high of his body touching mine. The way it made me forget. The way it made me feel alive.

*****5 Absolutely Amazing Stars*****

There are so many things that I want to tell you about this book and the absolutely magnificent ending that Aly Martinez crafted for Bowen and Remi. I want to tell you everything. I want to tell you how this last book, this epic and unforgettable ending, delivered it all. I want to tell you about how this book made me cry, made me laugh, made me blush, how it literally stole my breath multiple times. I want to tell you all of the things that made this book and this trilogy absolutely amazing. I want to give you every single detail and more sol that makes this story one of the best stories that I’ve ever experienced.

I want to tell you everything, but I can’t do that For a couple of reasons. One, because spoilers ain’t cool. Two, because my words will never do this authors words justice. And they deserve every bit of damn justice for what Aly Martinez creates and gives you in this book and ending. And three, this ending is one that you just need to experience for yourself.

Trust me when I say that.

I am an ending person. There is just something so utterly spectacular about a good ending. When you’ve spent a long amount of time with characters, when you’ve been able to understand every piece of them, when you fall and heart first in love with them and just traveled and experienced it all with them, you want an ending that they deserve. You crave that satisfying conclusion that delivers everything. You desperately hope and pray that the author will bring together an ending that will give you everything and more that you needed with the characters you loved from the start.

Good endings are what I live for as a reader. A good ending is what makes my reader heart happy. They are one of the many reasons why I love a good series, and I knew coming into this last book of this trilogy that I wanted the most epic and emotional and unforgettable ending for Remi and Bowen. And let me tell you, I got the most perfect ending for those characters in this book.

What Aly Martinez so beautifully and breathtakingly and thoughtfully creates in this last book with them will truly blow you away. It will eviscerate all of your heart and emotions. It will simultaneously heal every broken piece of you and them as they fight for their love. It will keep you on the edge of your seat through every twist and turn that comes their way. It will have you in all of what you get with them, what you feel with them, what you come to understand and live and take in with them. It will deliver everything you didn’t even know you needed with them. And I promise you it will also answer every single question you’ve had about their story and their journey together.

I truly could not have asked for a more fitting an epic conclusion for Remi and Bowen. Those two are soulmates. Those two are complicated and amazing and messy and wonderful characters that have owned my heart from the very first page of this series. Getting to see the two of them face every hurdle, every heartbreaking moment, and every bit of in between, has just seared them to me. They have permanently burrowed themselves so deep in my heart, so to say that I needed them to get that ending they deserved, is literally putting it too mildly.

I needed EVERYTHING for them.

I needed them to heal. I needed them to get the answers they sought. I needed them to be okay. I needed them to believe in themselves and each other. I needed them to experience more of the beautiful and absolutely mesmerizing love that they gave one another. I needed them to get the happily ever after that they had fought so damn hard for.

I don’t want to ruin anything about that ending that they so epically and magnificently give you, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but let me just say… I was not disappointed in what I got with those two at all. Not one little bit. They delivered it all and then some, and they gave me an ending that was beyond worthy of their journey and story together.

What Aly Martinez has delivered and created in this epic trilogy is something I will never forget reading.

This trilogy is a story of two characters who have a literally been put through the wringer. Two people who are soulmates, who are the endgame we all root for, but who have what feels like insurmountable challenges in front of them. They go through it all in this series. They have to fight for it. They have to put their hearts on the line. They have to be willing to feel everything and give it all for the chance and experiencing the love that they share. Their story will break your heart. But it will also give you life. It will put you back together again. It will amaze you in every way with the depth of what they share and feel. And while it might not be easy and it might not always be pretty, it is beyond worth it. And it is one of the most epic and exhilarating and all feeling romances I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

This book allows you to feel everything with Remi and Bowen. It allows you to understand their choices, their motivations, their drive, and every facet of their hearts and souls. It allows you to remember again and again why you need them to be together and find that chance at a forever live after everything they’ve been through. It shows you on every page why they are meant to be and it reminds you that the level of what they feel for one another and the emotion of it all is so beyond beautiful and breathtaking and just utterly spectacular. Getting to experience and live that and practically touch all of that with them as they fight like hell for one another and their love is absolutely everything.

It truly is.

I really don’t even have the right amount of words to accurately capture what Aly Martinez delivers in this final book. This story has kept me on the edge of my seat from the very start, it has made me cry all of the tears, and it has made me feel just about every emotion possible. There have been moments that have shattered me. Moments that have given me everything. Moments that have truly stolen my breath with what these characters go through and experience. Moments that have made me laugh my ass off and moment so full of joy and elation that you will feel the warmth and the happiness emanating from these characters and those moments. All of those moments come together in this final book to deliver the ending that these characters deserve.

I never could’ve asked for a better ending than what I got in this final book for Remi and Bowen, and the way that this author so thoughtfully and intricately brings together their story for this final chapter just reminds you again and again why they are meant to be, why they are truly soulmates, and why no matter what happens, those two will always find a way.

This book was the perfect conclusion for this absolutely mesmerizing and consuming love story, and it honestly was a shining example of why this author is one of the best authors I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. The way that she crafts her words, the way that she allows you to live and feel everything with her characters, and the way that she pushes them as characters just as much as she pushes you through every moment of her story, lets her writing and storytelling talent shine. This author immerses you in this world for a final chapter that will make you feel everything under the sun, that will show you that soulmates are definitely real, and that will show you love can truly see you through anything and give you the world, if you keep yourself open to it and fight like hell for the chance to have it.

Remi and Bowen make this ending theirs and I promise that if you have loved every book in this trilogy, you will not be disappointed in this ending. Not one little bit. This author culminates the story in a way that you will never forget and in a way that will have you feeling everything well after you reach that last page.

I finished this book days ago and I still can’t stop thinking about the ending and what I got with these characters. I still can’t stop feeling the heart and the emotion and the meaning behind what they built and shared in this entire trilogy, but especially in this last book. And I especially can’t stop loving every single thing about them.

Those two made me smile until my cheeks hurt, made me laugh so hard, shocked me to my core to the point that I literally lost my voice while reading their story because I was so taken with everything they threw my way. They made me cry so hard I hurt my sinuses, they physically hurt my heart, but they also put me back together again in a way that I will never forget. They showed me what it meant to feel everything, to love with your entire soul and being, and to fight with all you have for the chance at love and happiness and forever.

Aly Martinez so thoughtfully and magnificently crafted the perfect ending to a love story that I will never forget reading. This book captured the fire of these characters, every facet of their hearts and souls, and it emanated with one of the most epic and deep and true love stories that I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. The way that it all comes together will blow your mind and your heart away, but will also have you knowing that you’ve just read the most fitting ending to the most incredible love story…and it doesn’t get better than that.

Remi and Bowen will always own a part of my heart after what they gave me in this trilogy. They may have made me work for it, and they may have made me shed quite a few tears along the way with them, but they made it so beyond worth it. They are love and the possibilities of them and everything they give you is so beyond worth it. They are so beyond worth it.

Their love story is one of fate, heartbreak, spark, connection, every single emotion, and a hell of a lot of paperwork….and boy is it everything.

So much glorious everything that will give the world and them and their love.

In the end, getting that, feeling that, living and experiencing that, and just being in the presence of that and them and their epic, feel it in your bones and marrow of your soul, love, is the absolute best.

The. Absolute. Best.

Excerpt from The Difference Between Somebody and Someone

“Sorry, is my mood killing your buzz?” I asked.
Her blue eyes sparkled in the glow of the airplane reading light. “It really is.”
I shook my head and went back to mindlessly flipping the pages of a magazine I’d bought at the terminal back in Colorado. I’d picked it up with hopes it would be a distraction from the cyclone raging within me on our way back to Atlanta. The minute she ordered that drink, I’d known it was a lost cause.
Her hand came across the armrest and landed on my thigh. “Bowen, stop. It’s not a big deal.”
It was the truth. Compared to everything we’d been through, our house could have been swallowed by a sinkhole and it wouldn’t have been considered a big deal.
Honest to God, I was lucky to still have her at all. It had only been nine months since we’d met, but we’d lived a thousand lives in that time. Unfortunately, that also meant we’d died almost as many deaths.
Terrifying, tortuous, agony-filled deaths.
We’d also found love though—immeasurable amounts of it.
I stared down at her engagement ring. I’d cashed out a huge chunk of my savings account and still had to open a line of credit with the jewelry store to buy the three-karat princess-cut ring. The payment was roughly the same as I paid for my truck each month, but the tears in her eyes as she’d sat in her hospital bed, clutching it to her chest the day I proposed, made it all worth it.
She was worth it. Every day, every tear, every worry-filled minute shaved off my life.
I’d do it all again.
If only I weren’t so helpless to save her. I loved that woman. Whole heart. Whole soul. Bend me, break me, crack me open and she would have been there. No matter how bad it got, she was always a part of me.
I wasn’t sure anymore if she could say the same.
“Bowen,” she whispered, just as she’d done so many times before. It was a plea. One she knew I’d answer no matter the situation. No matter how mad I got. No matter how much I feared losing her again.
My gaze instinctively lifted to hers.
She smiled and the sight caused an ache in my chest. It was a lie.
God, I missed her smile.
“Baby, I’m okay.” She tilted her head to her drink. “I hate flying. That’s all this is.”
That was a lie too.
My shoulders fell and a loud breath tore from my burning lungs, but I let myself pretend, my mind going back to a time when it could have been the truth.
I thought of the nights we’d shared multiple bottles of wine and made love, laughing and moaning under the covers until the sun crept across the horizon. She’d rested peacefully in my arms. No nightmares. No crying in her sleep. No insomnia. Just even breaths, her head on my shoulder, and her body wound around mine so tightly it was like a second skin.
But that was the past.
The unreachable, insurmountable past.
The plane jerked, forcing me back to the present.
“Shit.” She moved her hand off my thigh to grasp her drink as it sloshed all over her. “Crap, crap, crap,” she chanted, using a cocktail napkin to dry the dark-red pool of tomato juice on her white pants.
For a moment, I sat there and watched her struggle. It wasn’t the most chivalrous thing to do, but I was all out of grand gestures.
She unbuckled her seat belt and lurched to her feet, her phone along with a handful of ice cubes from her lap falling to the floor. “Damn, this is going to leave a huge stain.”
The plane jerked again and she stumbled forward, crashing into the seat in front of her before I could catch her arm.
“Dammit, sit down before you get hurt.”
Ignoring me, she bent over to fish her phone from under the seat. “Hit the button for the flight attendant. I need some club soda and a lemon. STAT.”
“No, what you need is to sit down.”
I gave her arm a tug and dragged her down to the seat. Using the tip of my boot, I swept her phone toward her. Aforementioned lack of chivalry aside, I was no contortionist; leaning over to pick it up was out of the question.
She folded her upper body over my lap and blindly patted around the floor. I fought the urge to run my fingers through the back of her hair. In the beginning, it would have been a no-brainer. I’d have curled forward and suggestively whispered in her ear, “Since you’re already down there…”
She would have grinned up at me, her whole face filled with mischief as she traced a finger over my zipper, ignoring anyone who dared to watch her as she replied, “You mean down here?”
I’d have grabbed her hand and made her stop even though I was the one who had started it. She had no filter. She always took it one step too far. I’d loved that about her when we’d first met. It was fresh and exciting, a far cry from the stuffy women I’d dated in the past.
But now, she was in the past too.
We were in the past.

And then it took it all away.

The Difference Between Somehow and Someway, the second book in the moving and captivating The Difference Trilogy from USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez is now live!

The world gave me everything.

After surviving a plane crash, I was lucky to be alive. It was a harsh truth, but one that changed my perspective on how fragile life could be.

So when a fellow survivor caught my eye, I owed it to myself to take a chance and follow my heart.

Bowen Michaels was guarded and broody, but I saw through his well-formed armor. Much like me, he was broken and lost, but together we found our way through the darkness.

For a brief moment, wrapped in his arms, it felt like maybe he was right about fate and we’d been destined to find each other all along.

But when buried secrets of the past erupt, igniting us both, it was hard to believe we’d been fated for anything other than failure.

The world gave me everything.
And then it took it all away.
