Review Post: King of Nothing by Aurora Rose Reynolds

I met him when my ship was sinking, and I clung to him through the storm. Little did I know he
needed me as much as I needed him.

The first time I saw Roman Dante King, he stuck out like an odd puzzle piece that got mixed up
in the wrong box. It wasn’t his blue eyes in the dim light of the bar, the tattoos that covered his
arms and hands, or even his arrogant personality. It was something else—something I couldn’t
see—that told me he didn’t belong in our small beach town on the Oregon coast.
Elora Mazie Barlow reminded me of a hummingbird zipping from one flower to another, never
stopping, never allowing anyone more than a glimpse before she was gone. Never letting
anyone in… until me. Then she gave me her smiles that were more valuable than anything I
ever owned and wrapped me in her peace without asking for anything in return.
Her tragic story sounded achingly familiar to my own.
Our connection is knotted up in loss. The journey we’re on together will eventually come to an
end. But will we be able to untangle the mess of strings that have tied us together?
Will we even want to?

4.5 Incredible Stars

It is no secret that Aurora Rose Reynolds is one of my favorite authors. I have been a fan of hers since I read Until November almost 10 years ago. I just love her books. I love her writing style, I love the way she creates her characters, and I just love that her stories are some of my favorites of all time. She is one of my go to authors, and I can always count on her for a story that is consuming, sweet and swoony, spicy, and fantastic in every way. Her books are some of my favorites and I look forward to every new release she has because I can’t get enough of her words!

King of Nothing was an absolutely phenomenal read from start to finish. This book coupled the perfect amount of emotion, connection, sweetness, and spice and fire to make a love story that I loved every word of. This book just brought together two seemingly opposite characters who were meant to find each other. I loved getting to be in the thick of their dynamic and getting to see everything play out for them of the course of this book because it touched my heart, it made me feel all of the feels, and it just gave me a love story that I know I won’t soon forget.

Elora and Roman meets when they have both experienced loss. The two of them know what it’s like to lose somebody unexpectedly and to feel like your whole world is turned upside down. Both of them are reeling up the start of this book and they find themselves connecting in a way they weren’t prepared for. Over the course of their story together you get to see them take adventures, take risks with their hearts, and with what could be, but most of all you get to be there with them as they fall so hard for one another while putting themselves back together again.

This is a story of romance, healing, and the beautiful power of connection. It is a story of two people who are searching for ways to put themselves back together again, and they find along the way the one person who they weren’t expecting, who is ready to help them do just that. Roman and Elora help each other heal. They help each other process their feelings. They help each other figure out what they want and what they want the rest of their life to be. Through it all those two are authentic, raw and real, so abundantly incredible, and they’re just truly themselves through every page.

This author does the most amazing job of just letting you live this story with her characters. That is one of the many things that I have loved about every single one of her books, and I especially loved about this one. Getting that level of connection and feeling with her characters made everything they were experiencing feel that much more real. It just elevated what this author created in the best way and it made Elora and Roman story so memorable. My heart was completely stolen by those two and I honestly don’t want it back. They are very special and they are so meant to be, and you feel that in every bit of their connection from that very first meeting. Getting to experience that and getting to see how that connection and their relationship evolves of the course of this book is romantic, it is swoony in the best way, and it is just beautiful.

This book was the perfect read that I could not put down. I literally devoured it in one sitting because I just needed everything with these characters and I couldn’t get enough of the two of them and what they shared together. This story was consuming, I loved getting to see the adventures. These characters got into, I loved the little connections to previous characters that also stole my heart , but really I just loved everything about Elora and Roman.

I loved how honest they were. I loved how this story allowed them to peel back the layers of each other and heal and fall in love and feel everything. I loved that the story was so beautifully emotional and heart touching. I loved the meaning behind everything and just how right these characters felt. I loved that this author infused her quintessential voice and style into this book in a way that I could not get enough of. I loved that I had those moments experiencing the protectiveness of these characters and their spark and their banter, while also feeling some deeply felt emotions and moments. This author seamlessly weaves it all together in a way that is truly phenomenal and that makes this an incredible love story.

I just loved everything about this book and what I got with these characters. Their story made me smile, it melted me again and again, but more than that it just showed me that those two were meant to find each other and find a beautiful happily ever after together.

Aurora Rose Reynolds has once again proven to me that she is one of my favorite authors and will continue to be for the rest of time. I have read and loved every single one of her books, and this one was no different. It is another one that I know I will reread many times in the future and I just can’t wait to spend so many more moments with Elora and Roman because they are really something special. This author truly created a beautiful love story and romance that I could not put down, that gave me all the feels, and that showed me through every page that love and healing can bring you indescribable joy, and beauty if you allow yourself to feel it and experience it and have it.

This is another must read by this author and the perfect place to jump into her words if you are new to her. The standalone romance is well written, consuming in every way, and will definitely leave you feeling all of the feels and love. This book delivered and I for one just can’t wait for more from this author! Her books are my happy place and I love it.

Jonah Dallmann
Over two years ago, I met a woman on New Year’s Eve, and it was the best night of my life. That is until the next morning when it became the worst.
One voice message. One swerve over a double yellow line. One little girl, my niece, that’s now mine.
It hasn’t been easy, these things never are, but we’re trying. Now, I’m twenty-six, and determined to be the best wide receiver on our team, while she’s seven and spends her days reading books and dancing ballet.
Only, I haven’t just grieved the loss of my brother, but her too. My heart has ached for what could have been, and what I had to let go. I know what I did to her was wrong, unfortunately, I never had an opportunity to explain that at the time I thought I was right. But as the door opens and she steps in wearing green scrubs and a long white coat, shock ripples through me and hope that I might finally get the chance.

I always wondered if this day would come, but I never expected to see him here, with her, in one of my patient rooms. He’s even better looking than I remember and giving off single dad vibes, too, as he cares for his adorable niece. A niece I didn’t know he had.
I was surprised when he asked if he could see me again, but I instantly declined. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Only now we keep running into each other, and I’m confused. Is fate throwing us a second chance, and if so, should I catch it?

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of From the Embers comes a new jaw-dropping standalone romance.

Pain trapped me in this house. Can love set me free?

Death had been chasing me my entire life. I survived the horrors of war, but it was the aftermath that truly destroyed me.

People called me a recluse, but the only time I didn’t feel like I was suffocating was inside that house.

For my daughter, I kept some semblance of normalcy by implementing a rigid routine. Once a week, I forced myself to walk to the diner at the end of the block—a ritual I despised but relied on as my last anchor to the real world.

Until the day a “Closed” sign on the door shattered my fragile existence. Worse, the new owner was the most haunting ghost from my past.

It had been years since I’d laid eyes on Gwendolyn Pierce. She hated me—and rightly so. But when a film crew arrived in town to dig into my past, she became my only ally.

With my secrets threatened, I leaned on Gwen, forging a connection neither of us could deny. But with a past as dark as ours, I feared it would eclipse any hope for a future.

I always said that when Death finally came for me, I would be ready, eager, and alone.
Always alone.

But for Gwen, maybe I could face the world again as long as it meant I could be alone—with her.

*****5 Absolutely Incredible Stars*****

It is absolutely no secret that Corinne Michaels is one of my favorite authors. She is one of my OG‘s. I can still tell you where I was and when it was that, I read her first book. That is how impactful her books have been on me over the last 10 years. I have loved and read every single one of her books. They have all been five star reads and have delivered such incredible, beautiful, emotional, and heartfelt stories that I have truly loved every single word of. So suffice to say, I am a big fan of her words and her characters and everything she creates.

The Whitlock family is something very special. This series has been a ride that I’ve never wanted to come to an end. These characters just love each other so much, they’ve been through so much in their lives together, and they always show up for each other and their family. There is just something very true and real and authentic about them and what they share as a family. Getting to be with them as they each find their true loves, as they fall for that one person who they are meant to be with, and as they all find that well deserved happily ever after has been, utterly incredible. And it has truly delivered the most amazing and beautiful love stories.

I have loved this series with my whole heart, and as much as I am not ready for it to end, I have to say that Corinne Michaels delivered the best ending possible in this final book. She left it all on the pages with Brynlee and Crew. She infused such heart and connection and fire into every word and breath of this book. She delivered a final story with this family and these characters that I will not soon forget. She let these characters have one last epic romance that truly delivered in every way. She also gave me one last book full of this family that have taken over my heart and owned every piece. These characters in this family in the small town are truly something special, and I was reminded of that through every single page of this book and this entire series.

Crew & Brynlee’s story had all of my favorite tropes. I am a sucker for a billionaire romance, and when you throw in second chance and marriage of convenience, you have me hook, line, and sinkered. This story was one that consumed me. It was one I could not put down. It was one that I devoured because I was so invested with these characters, their connection, and everything they shared together. I just loved being a part of their love story and getting to see the two of them find their way through a second chance that made all the difference. When I tell you there is something very special about the two of them and what they feel for each other, I mean it with my whole heart. Those two have an unadulterated level of love and connection, combined with such heart and selflessness, that shines on every single page of their story. It is beautiful and remarkable and authentic, and truly incredible getting to experience that firsthand in this book.

I have wanted Brynlee’s story is the very first book in this series. That girl is just something special. She has a heart of gold, she would do anything for anyone that needs it, and she just shows up every single time. She loves with her whole heart and is a person who deserves every good thing. And I have to say I just loved what this author delivered with her story. It was emotional and beautiful and heartfelt and just perfect for her. Brynlee deserved someone who would show up for her, fight for her, and someone who would pick her again and again. And Crew was the perfect person to do all of that and more for her. But what I think I loved the most about this story for her was that it just allowed her goodness to shine, and it allowed her to show her strength, her resiliency, and how big her heart truly was. Brynlee’s heart and love truly know no bounds, and it was beautiful getting to see that over the course of this book.

Now Crew might just be the swooniest and most genuinely amazing billionaire I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. That man loves with his whole heart. And he is not afraid to make things right, especially when he messed them up in the first place. He spends this entire book, not only trying to get his daughter back, but also trying to get Brynlee back. He fights for her, he shows up for her, and he takes care of her and every way possible. When I tell you, this man is ready to melt your heart, be prepared to be a puddle of goo by the end of this book because he does not mince words and he will stop at nothing to show the woman he loves that he is here for her and that he will do anything for her and their family. Plus, the way he shows up for his daughter and fights like hell to keep her safe is truly everything. That man knows who and what has his priority, and you will love him for it.

These two characters really share something special together. There is an instant level of connection between them. The fire they create is truly spectacular and will have you desperate for the fireworks that they create, but more than that the love these two share is deep and real and so true. It might happen quickly, and it might be crazy to some, but it is so them and so perfect. These two fight for each other, they get each other, and they put each other back together again. Getting to go along with them as they feel what they do, as they share and experience what they do together, and as they try to make sense of the fact that what started off as something temporary is really going to be forever, is absolutely incredible and will have you loving everything you get with these two.

Trust. Me.

I really don’t even have the right amount of words to tell you how much I loved this book. I loved how these characters just completely saw each other and got each other and every way. I loved how Brynlee and Crew took the second chance they were given and just ran with it. Their relationship and their second chance might have started off with an end date, but those two can’t help but feel what they do for each other. And those feelings, and that love and that adoration they have for each other is beautiful and authentic, and so full of emotion that will consume you in the best way. Couple that with the fact that these characters could not be more right for each other, and you will just be living for every single thing you get with them. But more than that, you will just be rooting with your entire heart that these two will find their way to create the family that they were always meant to be.

And getting to go along with them through that journey and fight and through every up and down that comes their way is beautiful and mesmerizing, and just utterly unforgettable.

Now not to be outdone, but being back with this family truly made my heart so abundantly happy. This family is a cast of characters that I will always love fiercely. I have loved each and every one of their stories and getting to see this family and their dynamics and their friendships and just everything in between. I have lived it for how this author has woven it all together and brought me into the fold of yet another incredible family and a beautiful small town that feels very very special. I just have to say there’s something special about this family. Just the way they love each other and show up for each other and the dynamics of their relationships, it has been a true treasure getting that over the course of this series. And this final bit with all of them was everything I could’ve asked for. Their love and their humor, and just the way they connect with each other is on full display in the most memorable way, and it just adds another incredible layer to this already amazing story.

And I have to say that, as sad as I am knowing that this is the last full book in this series, I also know this isn’t goodbye because all of these characters will show up in some way, shape, or form in another book because that is what Corinne Michaels continues to create with her characters. (And it’s truly the best!) It’s never truly goodbye because they all connect in some way and I just look forward to more and more time with all of them. There is truly something special about this town and this family and these characters and what they have given over the course of this series and that is a true testament to what this author has created that, I felt and got all of this. Corinne Michaels infuses such heart and emotion and realness this and series. She put it all into this series and into these characters and what they share, and it is unforgettable. These characters and this family love each other, show up for each other, and fight like hell for one another, and it has been a true pleasure getting all of their stories.

Forgotten Desires is a second chance romance that will show you that anything is possible with the right person. This book will melt your heart, it will have you feeling all of the feels, and it will show you that there is something very special with what Crew and Brynlee share together. Those two will show you that true love and a heart of gold can conquer anything, and that the one person who matters will always show up to fight for you.

I loved every single second of this romance book, and I know that you will too. This is definitely one of my top reads of the year and it definitely exemplifies the idea that if he wanted to, he would. And let me tell you, Crew wants everything with Brynlee and he is ready to show up and fight for her in every way that matters. Getting to experience what you do with these characters will melt you, will give you all of the feels and love, and will show you that these two were meant to find their way back to one another. You will just love every bit of what you get with them, and I have no doubt that you will fall head over heels and love with what these characters share, what they give you, and how they continually show up for one another in this book.

What you get with these characters in Forgotten Desires is romantic, emotional, genuine, and heartfelt in every way. There is truly something extra special about this series, this world, and what these characters deliver and give you with their whole hearts. Trust me when I say that you will not soon forget what you experience with Brynlee & Crew, the Whitlock family, and this small town of fantastic characters. This is definitely one of my favorite series for a reason, and I truly cannot have asked for a better conclusion and sendoff for them. Corrine Michaels truly delivers everything in this final book and it is beautiful and genuine and incredible in every way.

Forgotten Desires was an absolutely amazing and consuming love story that I know I will not soon forget. It brought the feels and the heart and the swoon and fire, but more than that, it brought a second chance romance of two characters that were so beyond meant to be. Two characters with hearts of gold who deserve every good thing. Brynlee and Crew’s story will give you it all and then some, and I promise you that you will love getting to see these characters, put their hearts on the line and fight for each other because it is truly everything.

Everything and then some.

Cora Rhodes

My new neighbor is the worst.

When they say to keep your friends close, but your enemies closer, I don’t think they meant that literally, as in next door neighbor close. However, here we are and after our horrible and unfortunate introduction, there’s only one solution . . . to declare war. It’s his side of the mountain versus mine. It doesn’t matter that my new neighbor is ridiculously handsome, because his personality is lacking. He’s rude, arrogant, and condescending, and regardless of how hard he tries, no one is going to get in my way or push me out. I need this more than anyone knows, because sometimes what people forget or choose to overlook, is not all that glitters is gold.

Briggs Warren

My new neighbor has got to go.

After purchasing Red Barn Orchard five years ago, I know a thing or two about living on the mountain. I also know that this is no place for a rich, New York City socialite who also happens to be a music superstar. If she wanted a vacation home, she should have chosen one on the lake in Horizons Valley, not here, where there’s no one around. No one except me that is. I don’t need this, I definitely don’t need her, and based on the prank she’s pulled, we’ve declared war. The problem is, I find her stunningly beautiful, witty, funny, and when she plays her cello and the music floats across the mountain, it feels like she’s speaking to my soul. Is it possible to love the thing you hate, or should I say person, because as the months pass and summer turns into fall, this game we’re playing, I’m starting to think winning might mean less about her leaving and more about something different after all.

Gold Horizons is a standalone story in the small town series, Horizons Valley. If you love city girl moves to a small town, next door neighbors, endless pranks, enemies to friends to lovers, and grumpy sunshine, then you’re going to love Briggs and Cora’s story.

5 Absolutely Incredible Stars

Gold Horizons by Kathryn Andrews is one of my favorite romance reads this year! This book had it all…and boy was I smitten with everything I got in this book. In every way possible.

Enemies to lovers? Check.

Grumpy sunshine romance? Check.

The most fantastic prank war between two neighbors? Check.

Small town romance goodness with a city girl and a mountain man guy? Check, Check.

Two amazing and incredible characters that will completely steal and melt your heart? Check, Check, Check!

Gold Horizons is the story of two seemingly opposite people going from enemies to friends to lovers to something so much more as they realize that the one person who drives them utterly crazy, might just be the one person they’ve always needed.

This is a story of two people connecting on such a real and honest level that will touch every part of their hearts and yours. It’s a story of two people seeing each other, and I mean really seeing each other, in the most raw and true way. This is a story of two dynamic characters peeling back each other’s layers to discover their vulnerabilities, and not only loving what they find, but basking in what they give one another. This is a story of two people pushing every button the other one has and loving every memorable, effervescent, and vibrant moment of it. This is a story of two people falling for one another in the most real, heartfelt, and true way that will melt and own your heart from start to finish.

Suffice to say, I loved everything about Gold Horizons and what I got with Cora and Briggs.

Those two are truly the best. And trust me when I say that those two are something very special. From the very first words of their story, I was hooked. I was hooked on them, their fiery and vibrant connection, and everything they made each other feel. I was also exponentially hooked on the way those two managed to push every button they both had, the glorious banter they shared, all while simultaneously driving each other crazy and breaking down every wall they had carefully constructed around themselves in the best way. Simply put, I was hooked on them and everything they shared.

These two have the most memorable first meeting, and the sparks just keep flying from there with every turn of the page in this incredible book. Kathryn Andrews carefully and thoughtfully crafts their story in a way that allows you to connect with them, allows you to feel and live and experience it all with them, and in a way that just sears you to them in a way that you will be rooting for them both through it all. There is just something truly special about Brooks, Cora, and what they share together and make each other feel. It feels right. It feels beautiful. It feels like exactly what both of them need. It feels like more…and that more with them is everything.

What I loved about Gold Horizons, and what I love about every book by Kathryn Andrews, is that she just allows you to connect so deeply and truly to Brooks and Cora and every character she creates. She just lets you see them, get them, and understand them in every way. She makes you believe in them and want every good thing for them. She invests you in them and all that could be. She allows you through her writing to connect to them in such a real and genuine way, and that makes reading their story everything to experience. It just makes everything more memorable, more beautiful, and just more enjoyable because you’re not just reading the book and seeing the characters end up where they do, you’re living the story with them and feeling every bit of their journey to one another…and it’s just the best.

Cora Rhodes is a gem of a character. She is fierce. She is independent. She is remarkable in so many ways. She has a heart of gold and is looking for her happy place where she can truly be herself. She is a woman who is beautiful inside and out in every way. What I loved about her character was that she was just so genuinely good. I also just loved that she was easy to relate to because like many of us, she too was just trying to find her place in the world and make sense of a very complicated relationship with her family and life. She might be a well known musician, she may come from very wealthy society, but at the end of the day she is a very real person just trying to figure out who she really is, who she wants to be, and who is deserving of being in her life and her heart. I just loved her, fiercely, unequivocally, and in every way possible. She is truly the best, and getting to connect with her over the course of the story was absolutely phenomenal.

Now Briggs Warren might have stolen my heart from the very first moment his grumpy self made a seriously memorable appearance on the pages of Gold Horizons. That man is the definition of a grumpy mountain man who has a lot of layers and a whole lot of love to give under his somewhat gruff exterior. He is determined and very very stubborn. He is also a genuinely good guy who would do anything for those he cares about and his small town that he calls home. That man may come off grumpy and a touch (aka a lot!) hard headed, but he is also fierce in his feelings and cares with his whole heart. What I loved about Briggs is that he was so dynamic and headstrong, but underneath those layers he was also so vulnerable and had experienced his own struggles. I loved getting the chance to peel back each layer, along with Cora, while reading this story. I also just loved getting to love him. That man is wonderful and I can totally understand why Cora wants to simultaneously slap him silly and climb him like a tree.

Trust me when I say that you will love Cora and Briggs and everything they so unforgettably give you in Gold Horizons.

Those two definitely make each other, and you, work for it, but in the absolute best way. They exemplify the idea that the one who drives you the most crazy, might just be the exact person you need to heal your heart and give you everything you didn’t think was possible. Those two work hard in this book and in their journey together to trust each other and themselves, to put the past officially in the past and break away from the expectations that try to hold them down, and to find a way to open their hearts to the possibilities of what could be. They do all of this and more while sweeping you and your heart off your feet, as they push each other’s buttons, as they feel their fierce and fiery connection to one another, and as they fall oh so hard for each other.

Gold Horizons is  truly one of the best romances I have read this year. It has it all and more. It was romantic. It was funny. It was fiery and full of so much connection. It was memorable and consuming. It was small town romance goodness with such dynamic and memorable characters. It was just a story that I could not put down, that I loved every single word of, and that I just loved reading and experiencing.

This book was everything and more, and Kathryn Andrews once again blew me away with what she delivered with these characters and their story.

Her writing is absolutely incredible and allows you to just fully live this story with Cora and Briggs. That writing is what has made me a fan of hers since her very first book released 10 years ago. She just has such a way with words, a way of allowing you to be in the moments she creates with her characters, and a way of enveloping you within the magic and beauty of what her characters are and what they share. Reading her words and experiencing what she so thoughtfully and beautifully weaves together in her books is something I truly look forward to and treasure. There is just something so special and memorable about what she creates and allows you to get with her stories and characters, and Gold Horizons was no different. In fact, I think this book is Kathryn Andrews at her best. This book and what she creates within it with Cora and Briggs is vibrant, effervescent, romantic, memorable, and just absolutely enjoyable in every way.

I truly could not have asked for more than what I got within this book and with Cora and Briggs.

Kathryn Andrews creates and delivers everything with the two of them in the most authentic and amazing way that I and my heart will not soon forget. She thoughtfully weaves together a story of enemies, friends, a very special mountain location, pranks, love, and all the possibilities that can come from taking a chance with the one person who drives you just a bit, or a lot, crazy. She does all of that and more in this phenomenal book. She leaves all the heart and emotion on the pages of this book with these characters, and I truly could not have asked for a better conclusion to my time in Horizons Valley. This place and the people who live and fall in love there are truly something special, and you will feel that in this book, and in every other book of this series.

Trust me.

This book, this entire series, and all of these very special characters will own your heart from the very first moment you meet them, and you will love every bit of what you get with them. You journey with them, you feel and live it all with them, you root for them with your whole heart, you believe in them, and in the end, I promise you will not be disappointed with what they so beautifully give you. Not one little bit.

Trust me when I say that this whole series, but especially this book and Cora and Briggs, will give you it all. Those two will have you believing in the magic, possibilities, and beauty of taking a chance on the one person you didn’t even know you needed and the one person who makes you feel everything. And getting that with them along with everything else in their incredible story? Well that is truly the best in every way possible.

5 Absolutely Incredible Stars!

Let me start this review by saying that Rowan and Charlotte just might be one of my favorite couples that I have read. There is something truly special about those two. Maybe it’s their banter, maybe it’s their unadulterated, fire and connection, maybe it’s the fact that they always keep each other on their toes, or maybe it’s just the fact That those two feel so inherently right together. Maybe it’s all of that and more. In fact, I think it is all of that, and more because from the very first pages of this book, I was completely enamored by those two. And my love for them grew fiercely through every turn of that page to the point that I was not ready to leave them when this book ended.

Those two just completely stole my heart in every single way possible.

Tempting Promises was a consuming, exceptionally written, and crafted, and utterly fantastic romance book that I could not put down. This book took a hold of me with everything it had from those very first pages and I couldn’t get enough. I was completely consumed with these characters, their banter, the buildup between them, the forced proximity goodness that pushes those to right past their breaking point, and everything that came after. Coupled with the small town goodness that completely owns my heart with this world and this family, and I was smitten. I was just in love with everything I was reading and experiencing with these characters, and it was the best.

The absolute best.

Corinne Michael’s creates an outstanding connection and fire between Rowan and Charlotte. When I tell you that it is palpable and tangible, and so thick in this book, I mean it with my whole being. Those two don’t like each other, but they really do. And when they are forced in a cabin together for multiple days, they solve a lot of their problems. And create a few more at the same time. Their unadulterated connection and fire to one another finally breaks, and it makes them see each other completely differently. Things they thought they knew are no longer there. Things they weren’t prepared to feel are suddenly there, full force. But more than that these two realize that they may have had each other all wrong and that they might just be exactly what they need.

Now let me tell you, I live for a good enemies to lovers story. Especially when the banter is top-notch, and that is what Rowan and Charlotte shared in this book. Those two definitely know how to push each other‘s buttons. They’re competing farm owners, they have a path that connects them in more ways than one, but they also just don’t like each other. But they also kind of do. There is such a respect between them, and I love how that came out across the story. These two definitely push each other pass that edge, and it leads to some very spicy and fiery moments. They keep telling each other throughout this book that this time will be the last time, but the more times they have, the more they realize that there is something truly real and authentic between them. And that thing might scare the living crap out of them, but it is real, and it is there, and it is genuine and it is everything.

Charlotte and Rowan were two incredibly amazing characters.

I loved how headstrong Charlotte was, I loved how tenacious she was, and I loved that she was not afraid to call Rowan on his bullshit. I also just loved that. She had so much heart and she was just trying to find her place in the world, while saving the farm that meant everything to her and her family. She was a woman who just wanted somebody to stay and to believe in her, and I loved getting to see her fight with all of her might through every page of this book and work her ass off to find herself, her place, and her love in this world. I love that girl with my whole heart, and I just love the fact that this book brought her what it did, because no one deserves all of the happiness in the world more than she does.

Rowan was a gem and let me tell you I love that man. I love that he’s just a good man. I loved that he is also not afraid to keep Charlotte on her toes and be there for her, even when she tries to push him away. I also just love that that man is tenacious in his own way, he cares about family, and he isn’t afraid to keep fighting, or to keep showing up. He is in it for the long-haul, and even though he starts off this book, doubting he will ever have a forever or a relationship, he soon realizes that with a right person, everything can change. And when he realizes that, he commits to it with his full heart, and every ounce of passion within him, and it is epic and amazing to experience.

I also just have to say that one of my favorite things about this couple, and everything they share is that it just felt very real and grown up. They face their fair share of issues, both with themselves and each other, and they handle them in a very real way. They don’t run away from their problems, they face them head on. They make decisions that are thoughtful and are emotional, but that also feel very real. Sure they are human and they make mistakes and things are complicated, but they also aren’t afraid to own up to their part of things and aren’t afraid to make the right choice and the hard decisions, especially when the stakes are high. I loved that about them and I really respected that because even though they love to push each other‘s buttons, in the same breath I know that they are also committed to being there for one another, and handling things in the way they should be. In a way that leads either the heart, and is as tenacious as they are. That coupled with the fact that everything between Rowan and Charlotte felt so right just meant that I loved them even more fiercely with everything they gave me.

Getting to be with these two as they go from enemies to lovers to so much more was phenomenal. My heart was with these two feeling and living and experiencing every breath of what they give each other, and I just loved it. I loved how connected I felt to them, I loved how real it all felt, and I just loved how these two never stopped keeping each other on their toes, wanting each other, but also fighting like hell for each other, and for what could be. I loved and respected them both with my whole heart, and every fiber of my being, and I was so beyond invested in those two finding the happily ever after that, they both deserved. I needed them to get there, because they just deserved it. They deserved all of the happiness and love and elation and warmth and fire that comes with finding the one person who changes everything. And I lived for every opportunity in this book that brought them both closer and closer to finding that with each other.

Experiencing that with them in this book was truly everything. And more.

Those two might have been a little worried about what that future could bring them, but they were always there for one another, especially when it mattered. I think that’s one of the things I loved, and respected so much about them. They were always willing to stand up for each other and be there for each other when it counted. And even when no one was watching, they were still there for each other because they knew that is what the other needed and that that was what they had to do. And I absolutely relish in that with them.

The love that grows between these characters is built on fire and banter and pure heart. That shines through every word this author creates, and it emanates with these characters and what they share together. It is beautiful and funny and intoxicating, and just consuming in every way to experience what you get with Rowan and with Charlotte.

And I have to say that just being back in this world, with all of these characters, in this small town, and in this family, that cares so deeply for one, another, was just the perfect place to be. I could read this series forever and ever, and I would never get enough of all of these characters, and what they allow me to get and feel with them along the way. They just make everything feel like so much more. They make me feel part of their family. They make me Feel like I am right there with them and it is truly everything to experience that with them.

If you love a small town romance, that is well written, that is consuming in every single way possible, and that will show you just how thin the line between love and hate is, then you need to run yourself to this book as soon as humanly possible. If you love a romance book that will give you two very real, dynamic, and complicated characters that will steal your heart from the very first pages, then you will live and love every second of this book. if you just love a phenomenal love story that gives you characters who find their way through any obstacle together, who continuously show up at all times, and who are ready and willing to fight for themselves and each other, then you need this book in your life this very second.

Trust me.

This entire book, this entire series, and every morsel of this world makes my heart so abundantly happy. That is a true testament to the level of connection and vibrancy and life, and love that this author infuses into every character, into every moment, and into every love story. Tempting Promises was another shining example of why Corinne Michaels is one of my favorite authors. She leaves it all on the pages of her books, she connects you with her characters in every way, possible, and she just has you utterly in love with everything you get with them. The good, the bad, the complicated, the banter, the connection and fire, and all the glorious spiciness; this author puts you in the thick of it, and it is glorious. She gives you real complicated characters who can’t help but feel everything for one another, and you will love getting to be on every step of their journey to finding that happily ever after. She will have you enamored with them, and everything between them, and you will love it.

You will love it so so much. I know I did.

I am so sad to know that this series is coming to an end with the next book, but in the same breath, I just can’t wait to be back within this world. That is how much I love all of these characters, how much I love what this author creates with them, and how I truly cannot get enough of their stories of finding love. This family has had a go of it, but each book in this series heals them all a little bit more and shows them that anything is possible if you keep your heart open to all of the possibilities… And to the right person. I loved every single thing about this book, and I have no doubt that this author will bring this entire series to a close, in the most fitting way, because this family, this series, and this world has been utterly unforgettable from the start, and I have no doubt they will be through the very end.

Releasing Now: Broken Dreams (Whitlock Family #2) by Corinne Michaels

Broken Dreams by Corinne Michaels is now live!

What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town?

The answer, you fall for him.

It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding.

We had a plan. It was a good one.

Until it wasn’t.

I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close. I especially wasn’t going to melt when I saw him play with my daughter.

Most of all I was not going to sleep with him.

Nope. None of that was supposed to happen, but it does.

Now I find myself dreaming of him every night. Wishing we were really a couple because the way he kisses me doesn’t feel as if it’s pretend.

But we’ve both watched our dreams shatter, and I can’t handle another broken heart.

5 Absolutely Perfect Stars

Corinne Michaels always writes the perfect romance. End of. I can always count on her to deliver an emotional, sweet, spicy, and unforgettable romance no matter what book of hers I am reading. I have a literally read all of her books and I have loved every single one. They are some of my all-time favorites. They are truly my happy place. They are what make me so happy, and so grateful that I am a romance reader,m because the love stories and the characters and the emotions and the heart that she so authentically creates, is truly perfect.

Broken Dreams was perfection.

It was everything that I have come to love and expect from this author times 10. It was beautiful and sweet and spicy as hell. It was a story that my heart was immediately in right from the start. It was a book built on the idea that a second chance at love after what feels like insurmountable loss can truly be possible with the right person. It was a story filled with so many incredible characters that have given me all of the feels in so many books, and I truly basked in every second with them all. It was a story of two people who feel just a little bit broken, or a lot at times, but who realize that the other might just be the key to healing after all that they’ve gone through.

This was a story of two people finding each other at the exact right time. This was a beautiful story of something that started off as pretend, but quickly became something. Oh so very real. This is a story of two people finding their way back to themselves, while falling heart first in love with one another.

Corinne Michael’s always delivers the feels. I can always count on her to drown me in them and I love it. I love that her books make me so happy. I love that her books make me feel everything. I love that her books allow me to experience everything with her characters, so authentically and so deeply. I love that her characters are so honest and real. They are complicated and flawed and real, and I love that about them. I love that I can get them and understand them. I love that I believe in them, and that I want to root for them with all that I have because they’re such good people. I love that the way that Corinne Michaels creates them and allows me to connect to them, brings out all of those feelings and emotions through every single page of her books.

Broken Dreams allowed me to experience all of that with Grady and Addison in the best way. Now I have gotten a taste of these characters through other books in this world and in other books by this author. So I was ready to see what could be for two single parents trying to find love after loss. And the thing was, they weren’t really looking for love. I mean they kind of were, at least Addison was, but they kind of weren’t because this book finds them at crossroads in their lives.

They both lost their spouses. They’re both on the precipice of very big things. They’re both trying to heal and make their way through the world of emotion and processing that happens after the loss of your spouse. They’re both trying to find their way, and in the midst of that they find each other. What starts out as something pretend for them soon becomes very real and deep and something unexpected. It’s something that keeps them on their toes. It’s something that knocks them down in the best way and shows them that the other is worth fighting for; that they are worth fighting for. It’s something that takes them so far from where they started and scares them out of their minds. It’s something that makes them want something they didn’t think was ever possible again.

All of that combined with their unforgettable connection, and their hearts that are so pulled to one another, and you’re really just scratching the surface of what made everything with Addison and Grady so phenomenal.

I just love those two. I loved how real they are with one another. I love how they get it. I loved how they get each other and their journeys and how they just always seemed to understand. Even in those really hard and complicated moments, they got it because they’re going through it together and they’ve been through it. The way that they see each other in such a real and authentic way was beautiful. It really was.

I also just have to say that the respect and love that they show for each other’s late spouses was truly so meaningful and heartfelt. Each of these characters had many moments in this book where they thought about, or talked about, or brought up their late spouse, and it was never an issue. Nor should it have been, but I just love how this author showed that both Grady and Addison understood all of these nuances with each other. They understood that it meant something to keep their memories alive. They understood that there would be moments where they would feel complicated things because of what they’ve gone through. They understood that there would be moments where the past would come up and they would have to figure it out, and wade their way through all of those feelings and emotions. They understood with each other that grief is a complicated nonlinear journey that isn’t always easy, but they were committed to being there for one another us, friends, and as more, and that was everything to get and experience.

Throw in the fact that they are two of the best parents around, with some seriously cute kids, and so much connection, and I was smitten. I loved how much these two loved their kids, how much their worlds revolves around their kids, and how committed they were to doing the best for their kids and family. I was truly just enamored with them, and every bit of build up with them was so worth it because boy do those two share some firework level heat when they are together. And the way they push each other to that edge, the way they build each other up, and the way they take you along with them as they crash over is truly unforgettable.

This book truly had it all. It had the romance. It had the fire and connection. It had two single parents finding each other and building something they didn’t think could be real, but that they soon find is so real that it could truly give them everything. It had so much emotion and feels and heart. It was woven so beautifully throughout every part of the story and the way that Corinne, Michaels brings it all to life is truly outstanding. She allows you to breathe it all in and feel it all, and practically touch it all with how real she makes it and not just amplifies everything you get with these characters.

It also had so many moments that I could have just lived in forever. Moments that made me laugh, moments that were so sweet, moments that were spicy as hell, and moments that just showed that these characters were so beyond right for each other. Grady and Addison give each other things that truly help heal them and complete them. Getting to go along with the two of them as they try to find their way and create something new out of something that was once broken was absolutely incredible. It was everything my heart needed, and this author delivered it in the best way. I truly cannot say that enough.

This book and their story and their love and getting everything with them was perfection.

I seriously love the world of this book and getting to be with these characters for 300+ pages was a treat. I also seriously loved how this book and this world are bringing so many other characters from this author’s other books together. It truly makes my heart happy to see them all, and I want every characters book in all of these worlds. I think that speaks to what this author creates with her characters that no matter how many times I’ve read her books and no matter how many more characters and towns, and stories I get, I just want more. And not only do I want more, but I want more with all of my favorite former characters from all her other books along for the ride.

Simply put, I loved Broken Dreams with my whole heart.

I loved everything that Grady and Addison shared together. I loved what they were willing to take a chance on and what that could mean for them and the family they wanted to create. I loved getting to go along with them as they pretended what they shared was fake, but as they realized that there was absolutely nothing fake about what they felt for one another. I loved the heart of this book. I loved the dynamics and the relationships, and just all of the boisterous characters that make this small town a place I always want to be a part of. I loved the moments that made me laugh until my cheeks hurt, the moments that had me blushing,m something fierce, and the moments that had me knowing that these characters needed to find a way. Throw in the fact that these characters are part of a larger family and town and world that I will literally never get enough of, and I was absolutely in love with everything I was reading.

I just loved this book, and I absolutely loved and treasured and basked in every second with Grady and Addison. Those two are kind of the best. And Corinne Michaels does the two of them justice in their story. These two show that a second chance can bring you unimaginable joy and happiness if you allow yourself to take a chance. These two show you in every way through their story that they are very real, that they are so meant to be, and that new dreams can be just as beautiful and just as fulfilling and just as magical as the ones you thought were broken so long ago. I promise that you will love getting all that you do with them, and in the end, you will just be so happy for what you were able to experience and feel with them along the way.

Trust me when I say, there is no resisting the pool of these two and what they give one another. You will treasure every bit of what you get with them and their kids and their friends and their family and this small town of amazingness. But most of all, you will just love what they are able to create and share together. Because it is truly the best, it is beyond meaningful and beautiful and heartfelt, and most of all, it is another perfect love story from Corinne Michaels.

Happy 10 Year Blogiversary, The Never Ending Book Basket!

Ten years ago I started this book blog.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I really can’t believe it. Ten years have flown by and here we are. Still shouting the book love, still buying way more books that I can possibly ever read, and still grateful each and every day that this blog has brought me to the absolute best community of book loving people.

This book blog started with a simple idea and a question. Driving home from my brand new big girl job, I thought about how I would love to connect with others who loved books as much as I did. Especially those spicy romance books that I had recently begun falling so fiercely in love with. That led to the question, what if I start a book blog? And thus, The Never Ending Book Basket was born.

And 10 years later it’s still here.

10 years later I’m still here reading all the spicy romance books. 10 years later I’m still here supporting the incredible indie romance book community. 10 years later I’m still here with the best book people and support system a girl could ask for. 10 years later I’m still here with all my books and a heart that is so full from all this blog and its community have given me over the last decade.

So much and so little has changed in the last 10 years of this book blog. When I first started this blog, I used to post at least once a month, if not more. As time went on and as life got crazier, that regularity fell to the wayside. But this book blog was always my happy place, my safe place, no matter how little or how much I’ve posted. (Special shout-out to all of you for sticking with me through all those times of regular posting to what basically felt like me ghosting everyone. 🤣)

This is a picture of the OG Never Ending Book Basket…a lot has changed in 10 years!

Ten years ago, I started with just one little basket of unread books, and now I have more unread books than I ever thought possible. (And they definitely don’t fit in a basket anymore!) I’ve gone semi-viral for getting banned for reviewing on Amazon and talking about books that’ve emotionally murdered me. Over the years this blog (and I!) have joined new social media platforms, bought a shit ton of books (and I do mean a shit ton), done hundreds of giveaways, talked about hundreds, if not thousands of amazing books, and I’ve truly loved every damn second of it all.

Ten years later, and I’m still here, obsessed with spicy romance books, proud to be a little part of this book community with this book blog, and beyond excited to see what the next ten years will bring.

But most of all, I’m just so thankful and grateful for these last ten years and what this book blog and book community have so graciously given me. I never knew how much I needed this book world and its incredible people until I was in it, experiencing the true magic of it. The people, the books, the way this community shows up for each other, and just the love of books and love stories that exists is truly the best.

The. Absolute. Best.

Simply put, starting this book blog changed my life.

When I first started this book blog I was fresh out of college, 22, and in the midst of that phase where you really try to figure out what the hell you want to do and who you really are. I was also stuck in a not so great position at my job with some very toxic people, and was looking for something, anything really, that could bring me a little bit of joy. Books had always brought me joy, and in a season of life when I desperately needed that, I found myself in this new community with a new book blog, ready to see what I could find. What I found was the indie romance book community. And it is that wonderful and amazing community, this book blog, and the incredible people I’ve met along the way that truly changed everything.

So yeah, this book blog changed my life.

It changed my life completely.

And I will be forever grateful for that.

I will be forever grateful for the people who I’ve connected with through this book blog and community who have become lifelong friends, who have become my people.

I will be forever grateful for the amazing and incredible and absolutely wonderful authors, bloggers, narrators, editors, readers, and humans I have met and worked with in the last 10 years through this blog.

I will be forever grateful for the opportunities this blog has allowed me this last decade and the experiences it’s given me.

This is what my unread pile of books looks like today. (And no this isn’t all of them.) There’s still a basket, but SO many unread books!

I will be forever grateful that I found a place in this world that truly feels like home, where loving books, buying books, and shouting the love of books and fictional characters from the rooftops is not only accepted, it’s celebrated.

I will be forever grateful that I found myself connected to other readers that know a book can truly change your life.

I will be forever grateful for the absolutely unforgettable stories that have owned my heart and soul these last 10 years of book blogging.

I will be FOREVER grateful to every single person who has chatted with me about books, asked for a recommendation, tuned in for a live giveaway, supported my page and me, but most of all, who have shown up for me and this book blog time and time again.

I will be forever grateful that I found my people, my happy place, and where I was always meant to be in this world through this little ole book blog of mine.

I am SO very grateful and I can’t say it enough.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This book blog was and is 100% a group effort guys, and we did it. We. Fucking. Did. It. Y’all. We made it a decade and it wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you. And my heart is SO beyond full. My cup truly runneth over from all the love and support you’ve shown The Never Ending Book Basket these last 10 years.

Whether you’ve been with me from the very beginning, jumped in on this crazy train sometime in the middle, or are just finding yourself here now, thank you. Thank you for supporting me and this book blog of mine. Thank you for showing up in any and every way for me and this book blog. Thank you for sharing the book love and for sharing your amazing recommendations and words. Thank you for going along with me on this crazy wonderful book blogging journey. Thank you for letting me be a little piece of this amazing book world.

I couldn’t have done it without you. All of you.

And it has truly meant EVERYTHING to be able to do this the last 10 years.

I can’t say that enough.

So here’s to 10 years of book blogging. This last decade has been chalk full of all the amazing books, all the love stories, all the book signing adventures, all the cliffhangers, all the late night reading sessions, all the chats about plot twists and new releases and must read books, all the book trees and TikToks and crazy videos where I’m definitely 76 ounces in on coffee and telling you to read a new book I just loved, and so much more. These 10 years of book blogging have been the absolute BEST, and I know more book fun is on the horizon for me, this blog, and for all of us.

Happy 10 year blogiversary, The Never Ending Book Basket.

WE. FUCKING. DID. IT.
