Promo Post: Ethan Walker’s Road to Wonderland by L.J. Stock

Blog Tour 1st September – 5th September

Day 3 features Ethan Walker

Book: Ethan Walker’s Road to Wonderland

Author: LJ Stock

Genre: New Adult
Synopsis2

At nineteen, the world has so many possibilities.

Ethan Walker was a typical teenager in that respect. He was happy, living at home with his family and partying when the mood struck. He was in no rush to grow up. His life was a blank page just waiting to be written, but that couldn’t last forever.

Unfortunately, reality came knocking at Ethan’s door, forcing him to face truths he’d never allowed himself to see in the past – truths that soon robbed him of his innocence and youth. With the life he’d always known gone forever, Ethan found himself battling demons in disguise, only to find his own weakness was his worst enemy.

When temptation turned to indulgence, and the ghosts of his past encouraged him to dig deeper, Ethan sought salvation in the form of violence. His fists and fortitude became his bread and butter, but the new turn in his life rejected the familiar and opened the door to more evil.

Inevitably, the darkness tried to sink him, and there was only one constant light that somehow seemed to shine brighter than the promise of escape: the mystery girl with the golden hair.

In order to survive, Ethan had to dig deep and find a strength in himself not even he was sure existed. Only when he found himself on a path to Wonderland did he start to see a future beyond his past. All he had to do to get there was learn to breathe and not get himself killed in the process.

Road to Wonderland Series book 5 (all books are standalone reads)
 author

From a young age L.J. Stock was led by her imagination. From the moment she could read she fell into worlds where trees could talk and little girls could move things with their minds.

In no hurry to grow up, she found stories all around her, in the forests of Plym Bridge, the moss covered hills of Dartmoor, then, as she grew older, the wide spread city of Houston, where she currently resides and works. A constant daydreamer, she hopes that one day, her passion can become something more than just a hobby for her.

Still led by her imagination, the worlds have slowly grown from childish adventures to urban fantasies and romances. With inspirational authors such as Enid Blyton, Roald Dahl, Judy Blume, John Grisham and Stephen King guiding her through her life so far, L.J. Stock has finally decided that it is time for her to go for gold and try land herself on someone else’s future list of favorites.

Putting words on paper is as essential as breathing to her, but on the rare occasions that she isn’t writing, she can be found with a video game remote in hand or curled up on the couch with her pup and a good book. Music is also such an important part of her life, it’s a wonder there isn’t a background soundtrack playing wherever she goes.

A good girl to most, a bad girl to a few, L.J. believes that every genre should be attempted and is more than likely to have tried to release three hundred series’ ranging from vampires and werewolves, to dystopian and even classic romance, before she reaches even middle age. At least, that’s the plan for now.

H.A. Robinson interviews L.J. Stock
*Plonks down on your super insanely comfy couch and rustles a bag of crisps to steal the love and snuggles of your hound before plucking out a notebook and pen and rounding on you.*
Soooooo… How are you, Miss Author Lady?
You’ve had rather a prolific year with the releases of four books since last December. As somebody who works full time AND makes all the graphics for the other books in the series, how on earth do you manage to create so many amazing words? Are you secretly superwoman?
*Pulls legs up under me and pulls hair up in an attempt to look studious.* I wish. I’d have a better figure and get things done in half the time. *Giggles* Truth be told, though, I don’t think about it anymore. I have a to do list, and I chip away at it in between a full time job and my writing. It needs to get done, although I do have to say it sucks when I sit down to put my feet up and feel guilty as sin for doing it, but I wouldn’t change a thing! *Looks up and grins*
Oh and I’m very well thanks. That was rude of me. *Slaps forehead*
*Snickers* Yeah, so rude. Honestly. I’ll have to get Jared in to sort you out.
Your books feature an insanely diverse array of characters, from a grieving young man from Manchester who turns to drugs, to a young woman working three jobs to support her younger brother after losing loved ones and getting caught up in a Motorcycle Club in Texas, right through to a bubbly, submissive woman living in Louisiana. Where do your ideas come from and how on earth do you keep track of all those voices in your head?
*Rubs forehead and smiles* You missed out a couple, but I thank you for not giving away spoilers *winks* It’s hard to say where they come from. I’m going to dig a bit deeper into Ethan here for a minute so bear with me. Essentially, Ethan was a pre-existing character from the mind of Victoria L. James, and I was gifted him to shape him into something. He was actually an exception that proved a rule for me. From the moment I took him on, he was an extraordinarily loud voice in my head. He flung images at me and wouldn’t shut the hell up. He was so layered and detailed that it was like he took the steering wheel whenever it came time for him to appear.
With other stories, it’s a lot more complex. They come from dreams or daydreams, music or pictures. Then these sudden characters make dynamic appearances and paint very vivid pictures in my head. It’s chaos, and as much as I’d like to say it’s organized, it’s really not.
It sounds like your mind is an insane and wonderful place to be. I wouldn’t mind a sneaky peek into that brain of yours. As this is a Wonderland blog tour, I’m going to ask a couple of questions about Ethan Walker. In his story, you wrote some pretty heavy scenes fuelled by the drugs he finds himself addicted to. The scenes are stunningly written. As a writer, did you have to do a lot of research in order to write those scenes and how emotionally draining was it to write something so dark?
I actually agonized over those scenes. *Grins and shakes head.* I’ve never tripped a day in my life, unless you count the really good drugs they gave me when my gallbladder got infected. I did do a lot of research, though. I also watched a lot of documentaries, and pulled from some personal conversations I’ve had in the past. Put it together with my vivid imagination and it’s basically what you end up with in the book. I’m still not sure how close to reality it actually is, but it felt real when I was writing it. I had a pounding heart and a headache after I’d finished, and I took a few days off before I went back to writing.
It sounds like it was a real challenge writing such heavy scenes. I know when some actors play roles, they totally immerse themselves in the characters in order to create the role more convincingly. When you write, how much do you lose yourself in the moment of what you’re creating and how hard is it to come back to the real world when you’re done?
This is a brilliant question. For me, it depends on a couple of things. The first, my surroundings, and the second is the music. If I am in a setting where there are going to be no interruptions and no distractions, I can lose myself completely in the moment. If the right music is playing, then immersion is a guarantee. I think I lost almost six hours once, living in a completely different dimension, surrounded by their scenery. By the time I resurfaced, it took me two hours to snap out of it. I was so spaced out I didn’t even answer to my name. It doesn’t happen often, but in the right conditions I quite happily let myself go.
You talk about music a lot, and you know I love your Facebook song of the day posts and playlist. Can you write to any sort of music or are there specific genres or bands that you return to again and again?
I do talk about it a lot, don’t I? lol *grins* I can write to any sort of music, but the trick for me is what I’m writing. I have a broad, eclectic taste in music that ranges from classical to death metal, but it has to fit the scene. Everything I write has its own playlist, mainly because it sets the tone for that particular world. For Ethan, there was a lot of music that *scratches head* this is going to sound ridiculous *laughs* but it made me feel a little spacey and disconnected. A lot of his book – no spoilers, I promise – was about him finding himself. It was about his growth as a person and learning to accept his faults. So rather than letting myself slide into it comfortably, I kept the music eclectic, moving from high to low, fast to slow to shake me up. *Snorts* If you didn’t already think I was six shades of squirrel crap, you do now, huh?
*Laughs and pokes her with a toe then snuggles back with the dog* I don’t know about squirrel crap but you definitely have the markings of a creative genius. So far, you’ve released books in several different genres and nailed each one. Is there a genre that you’re the most fond of writing, and is that genre reflected in what you enjoy reading?
You’re so kind, but I’m starting to think you’re crazier than I am! *Sticks tongue out* I love writing in general and I pretty much follow where the characters go. I’ve actually started a manuscript not knowing where the hell it was headed. I know that’s probably breaking every rule out there or something, but I like to think you go where you have to in order to get the story told. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be fantasy. You get to make up your own laws, your own rules, and in some cases, your own worlds. Keeping track of that is much more complicated than writing a romance because you have to make your own parameters, and then remember them all and keep them relevant. In the end, though, I think you have this intense satisfaction. You have a globe and cast of characters that couldn’t have possibly existed without your imagination.
Though the problem with that is also having to survive some of the choices and deaths. You have to commit to it sometimes, even when you really don’t want to!
Ah, yes, character deaths. As an avid reader, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve cursed authors for killing off my favourite characters. (*Coughs* J.K. Rowling, George R.R. Martin, I’m looking at you, people!) As an author, when it comes to having to put those words on the page and bring an end to a life that you’ve created entirely inside your head, do you feel it as keenly as the reader does? Or even more so? These are, in effect, your word children. That’s got to hurt. How do you deal with that and move forward with writing?
You’re killing me with these questions, H. *Scrubs face with hands and laughs* I can only speak for myself here, and it’s not as easy as you’d think to answer. I have had character’s deaths plotted from the beginning before, and some that only occurred to me just before it happens. I think for me, it hurts worse to write it than it does to read. I have a lot of unreleased manuscripts, so I’m going to tread carefully here, but I’m a notetaker and I will sometimes play a scene over in my head for days before even attempting to get it down on paper. I was driving home one day when inspiration hit for one death scene and I voice noted it, and you can hear me crying. It broke my heart to do it.
When I finally did get it on paper, I think i stopped every couple of minutes to blow my nose, then when I was finished I watched Step Mom, and ate a tub of ice cream.
I’m gonna go right ahead and lighten the old mood up at this point. I know you live in Texas where the sun shines all the damn time and you melt the moment you walk out of the door in summer. If you could go to any place in the world, free of charge, where would you go and why?
Oh man, loaded question. Yes, this is the one I flounder on… If it was just for me, and not taking account of all the people I want to visit and spend time with, I would say the redwoods in California. To see those giants rising above and disappearing into the sky, I can’t imagine it. Forests have always held a mysticism for me anyway, but giant trees? I’m so there.
I know you recently went on a trip to Colorado and came home all fired up to write your next story set there. Do you find seeing different places and interesting people fires your imagination and are you as bad at people watching as I am?
Very fired up, and very loud, too. *Rolls eyes* I think there’s inspiration in everything. Colorado was beautiful. It had everything that I love – trees, mountains and formations of red rocks that have no rhyme or reason to them. I think being able to remove yourself from where you’re most comfortable and experiencing new things really can help with writing. Especially when you’re writing something like urban fantasy. When you’re used to the people and scenery around you, I feel like elements of that bleed into your work and your characters, so expanding your horizons and seeing new things can help shape new worlds and give characters more depth.
Wow, it’s been absolutely incredible to get a sneaky peek inside that amazing brain of yours. You’re an absolute inspiration to me and I know you are to many others, too. For the last question, I’m gonna go generic and do a few quick fire questions to round the interview off.

Excerpt

Changing Course

Prologue

Brett

“Sarah, don’t do this. Damn it! Stay with me.” I reach over and gently brush the blood-soaked hair off her forehead.

Even in this horrific moment, I’m in absolute awe of how beautiful she looks. Bleeding and broken, unmoving in my arms, she is still the most mesmerizing woman I have ever laid eyes on. Deep down, I know this is just the husk of my wife. My Sarah would never have done this to herself. More importantly, she would have never done this to me. Maybe it takes this level of madness, but I finally realize that I have lost her completely.

Whether she lives or dies, Sarah is gone. This is not the woman who made me laugh more in seven years than the rest of my life combined. She definitely isn’t the woman I spent years planning a future with, a future that now no longer exists. I feel a heavy weight in my chest at my silent confession, but oddly enough, I also feel a weight lifted off my shoulders. I have watched this woman disintegrate in front of my eyes for almost seven months. Every day, losing her a little more. The light in her eyes fading, while piece by piece and bit by bit, she lost grip of reality. Mentally, emotionally, and now physically, she’s left me.

My Sarah died seven months ago on her way home from dinner, and I will never see her walk back into my life. Suddenly, I can’t breathe. I’m terrified—and not only because Sarah might finally succeed in taking her own life. I’m paralyzed by the realization that my life is spiraling down in a free fall headed straight for misery, and the only thing I can think to do is anchor myself to this dying woman. I love Sarah with all my heart, but I am not clinging to the woman in my arms. Rather, I’m clinging to the life I thought we were going to have together. I have to accept that she isn’t there anymore. Her heart might still be beating, but the bloody, confused, emotionally lost woman I am holding now is only the shell of my first and only love.

“Where the fuck is that ambulance?!” I yell as loud as my cracking voice will allow. Stroking the little bit of her unmarred skin I’m able to reach, I whisper in her ear, “Hang on, baby.” Then I repeat the one sentence I have said almost daily since the tragic event that stole her from me. Maybe I say it for her, maybe just for me, but I know that it’s the biggest lie I have ever uttered. “Just hang on, baby. It’s all going to be okay.”

My Review

*****5 PHENOMENAL STARS*****

Ben and Mia Kelly are one of my favorite book couples around. Like seriously. Those two are always guaranteed to melt your heart ten times over, and bring a certain kind of blush to your face if you know what I mean. They’re just one of the most heart melting couples around, and that Benjamin Kelly…well he is oh so swoonworthy, so when I found out they were getting a novella after their story Where I Belong, I may have shrieked. Like a lot. I might have also smiled. A lot.

Where We Belong is one of the best novellas I have ever read and I loved every single phenomenal word of it. It had my pulse racing, my skin tingling, and my heart bursting with so much feeling and emotion that just had me loving Ben and Mia even more than I already did. I full on swooned more times than I could count reading this novella, while also smiling like a crazy fool because I was just so happy with everything that I was getting to experience with all of these characters.

This novella was heated, all-feeling, the best kind of intense, enrapturing as all get out, and bursting with the effervescent and distinctive spark that is Ben and Mia.

Where We Belong not only gave me more time with two characters I whole heartedly love to pieces, it gave me a story with some twists and turns that completely captivated me from start to finish. What I think I loved the most about this novella and this series in general is that you get to continue seeing these characters after their happily ever afters. You get to see them happy, you see where their struggles come in, and you get to see how they keep fighting through it all to hold onto that happily ever after that they so deserve. This novella lets you experience what comes after for Ben and Mia right along with them, and that is nothing short of wonderful because you get more of every single aspect that defines them and this extraordinary series.

In this story you get more Ben and Mia, you get more Nolan and Chasey and there utter and total cuteness, you get some Tessa and Luke and the spunk and fire that define those two, and even some Reed and Beth who just melt me more every time I see them. This novella also gives you a few other characters that I won’t mention because you just need to meet them for yourself.

Daniels packs one helluva story into this novella that just doesn’t quit. It’s exciting and engaging. It’s got build upon build upon build in it, and the heated tension she creates in Where We Belong will have you searching for the nearest fan. J. Daniels outstanding writing and storytelling also has more emotion and meaning than you can shake a stick at. You feel every ounce, every word, every beautiful and authentic feeling in this book from Ben and Mia, and I guarantee by the end of this story you’ll just want to reread this entire series because you’ll need to experience the wonderful world of these characters more.

Where We Belong gives you another fantastic story with Ben and Mia. The story just reiterated to me over and over again why I love their characters so much, and why this series is one of my all-time favorites. These characters are so fun and real and just enjoyable to read, (it also kind of helps that they totally melt your heart on every page too!) and I honestly can’t wait for more of them. This novella gave me so many unforgettable moments with Ben and Mia, their boys, and just all of the wonderful characters that make this series what it is.

This novella has me more than ready for more, and I cannot wait to see where the events brought up in this story will lead this group of characters. I love this series so fiercely, and I have no doubt that I am going to love wherever this seriously talented author takes them next. And lord knows I will probably shriek like crazy whenever that next book comes out. Seriously. It will happen.

Where We Belong is a novella that couldn’t be more perfect. It had everything I’ve come to know and love about Ben and Mia, and it just made me fall more fiercely under their spell. This novella made me laugh, and smile, it made my heart squeeze and melt and then melt some more, and it just gave me so much love that I felt in my bones. Like I said, this was one of the best novellas I’ve ever read, and I could honestly go on and on about how much I loved it.

It is perfection, and if you love Ben and Mia and this series, then you will one hundred percent love this chapter in their story. Trust me. They are the best and this novella is the best and you will love it!

Synopsis2

I met a boy once.

He made my heart go into a frenzy every time he looked at me, and my knees go weak whenever he touched me. Our love was so beautiful that even its demise was bittersweet.

I met a girl once.

Her world, full of possibilities, made me feel like even I had a chance at being someone. She believed in me. She loved me. We were so secure, that even our breaking point seemed hazy.

Until we reached it.

“You’re really purdy,” she slurred with a lopsided grin, running her finger down my cheek.
“That’s it. No more drinks for you,” I said, dragging the glass away from her.
“No! I’ve only had three,” she said as she lurched forward, pulling the drink out of my hands.
“I’m enjoying myself. I’ve had a bitch of a week and I deserve to let loose a little.”
I held my hands up. “You’ve actually had four martinis, but anything you want, princess.”
Her eyes grew into little slits. “I’m not your princess,” she slurred, sounding completely adorable.
My cheeks hurt as I smiled. “I’m going to take you home now. I think you need to sleep it off.”
“Last time I checked,” she said before hiccupping, “you’re not my daddy.” A slow smile crept across her face. She scooted closer and whispered, “Unless that’s your thing.” She tried to wink, but both eyes closed, one after the other.
I leaned into her space, a breath away from her lips. “It’s not my thing, but I’m happy to act out your fantasies. But I don’t think you want to cross that line. Once you go there, there’s no going back.” I stared into her eyes.
“Oooh.” Her eyes grew wide. “Is that supposed to scare me, Mr. DeLuca?”
I didn’t move. “I’m just giving you fair warning. You’ve had a few drinks, and I won’t take advantage of that. I’m just telling you how it is.”
“You’re full of yourself.” Her warm, sweet breath caressed my lips as she spoke.
All I wanted to do was reach out, pull her face to mine, and kiss her full, beautiful lips. “I’m sure of myself and confident in my abilities, yes. That’s entirely different than being full of myself.” I licked my lips, testing her.
Her eyes dropped to my mouth as her lips parted.
“Another?” Lisa interrupted.
“We’re good,” I replied, keeping my eyes pinned to Race and waving Lisa off.
“Pfft,” Lisa scoffed, stomping away.
Race glared in Lisa’s direction. “She wants you,” she whispered.
Was she jealous?
“I don’t want her.”
“She’s a sure thing though.”
I leaned closer, leaving very little space between us. “I never liked easy.”
“All men like easy.” Her body swayed, moving so close our lips almost brushed.

“Sorry, sweetheart, but you’re going to have to hit a lot harder than that to leave a mark on my skin,” he prods, further irritating me, causing me to ball my hand into a fist again, ready to accept his challenge.

“Let’s get a couple of things straight here, asshole. First of all, when I introduced myself to you last night, did I say, ‘Hey, sexy, I’m Charlotte. I want a good fuck and you look just like the guy to give it to me’? Well, did I?” I ask, seething with anger as he hesitates to answer me. Sure, I may have thought about his lips on my skin, but I never would’ve gone home with him on the first night, no matter what Lucy advised me to do.

He blinks at me, looking from my fist to my face. “Uh…no?”

“Exactly, so you can forget that whole part of your argument, but thank God you’re so fucking noble that you won’t sleep with another man’s woman. Seriously. Fucking kudos. I’ll have to get you a cookie for that.” He snorts, and I glare at him, shutting him up. “So second of all, did you ever ask if I have a boyfriend? Not that it should matter to you since you blew me off when I simply told you my name, but did you ever ask if I had a boyfriend?”

Incinerate_Alternate3_4x6postcardAgain, I get a blank stare before he lets out another, “No.”

“So then ask me.”

He clears his throat before he asks the question. “Charlotte, do you have a boyfriend?”

Giving him a sweet smile that’s still laced with venom, I answer him. “No, Knox, for your information, I do not have a boyfriend. I did, however, have a fiancé until a couple of months ago. It looks like we have one thing in common. I, like you, cannot stand cheaters.”

(Stand alone)

I’ve loved once. I gave everything that I had to that love. Blindly believing that nothing could ever take that feeling away from me. Away from us. And when my little world of happiness was ripped from my fingers, I felt a loss that still haunts me to this day.

Now I use that lingering grief as a shield to keep my heart from loving again. It’s that fear that keeps me from letting anyone, except my daughter, get close enough to make it hurt. To make my heart bleed when I inevitably lose again.

Until the day I met Liam Beckett and everything I thought I had protected myself from was shoved back in my face.

He’s on a mission to prove to me that a love worth having is a love worth fighting for.

My Review

*****5 Everything Stars*****

As I sit hear writing this review I have to say that I don’t know if I’ll be able to fully capture the sheer magnitude of how much I loved this book. Saying I loved Bleeding Love by Harper Sloan doesn’t seem to do this book the immense amount of justice it deserves. And let me tell you, this book deserves a helluva lot of justice because Liam and Megan’s heart melting story is one that will truly stay with me forever.

Saying I loved this book still doesn’t seem like a strong enough sentiment for the utterly captivating, beautifully emotional, and truly unforgettable reading experience I had while reading Bleeding Love.

I felt this book in my bones, and so deep in my heart. I felt every stich of emotion, every heated and raspy breath of desire, every wisp of spark filled connection, every swoonworthy make your heart melt moment. I felt everything. Every beautiful, all feeling, and consuming thing. Every. Single. Thing.

And that is just part of what makes this book the exceptional thing that it is.

Even though I’m not sure saying I loved this book will do it the justice it warrants, I honestly can’t say enough how much I loved it. I loved the words I read. I loved all of the extraordinarily crafted feelings and emotions I got to whole heartedly experience. I loved the remarkable and captivating characters I fell so hard for. I loved their triumphs and struggles. I loved the moments that hurt my heart, the moments that tried to make it all better, and the moments that made it all worth it. I loved it all.

Liam and Megan’s story in Bleeding Love consumed me heart and soul right from the very start. I loved that in this story you were thrown right into the thick of it right from the very start, and that just worked so well for what was happening between Liam and Megan. You hit the ground running, and you don’t stop feeling and breathing and taking in this story until you reach the end. (And even then you still feel, and breathe, and take it all in because it is that fantastic.) This story will just enrapture you from the very start, and feeling all that you do from these two from the very beginning will have you rooting for them from page one.

Megan and Liam’s story is defined by a lot of things. It’s defined by the past, and the pain and struggle that it brings for Megan. It’s defined by the determination and stubbornness that comes along with it. It’s defined by the utterly magnificent level of fight that bursts from the pages of this book, from both Megan and Liam. (Especially Liam. That man fights hard, and you will feel that in your bones.) It’s also defined by the exceptional and breathtaking level of emotion and feeling you experience from Liam and Megan from the very start to the very end.

Bleeding Love is defined by so many incredible things, and each and every one of those things is what makes this beautifully crafted story what it is.

A story of two people fighting to see and realize that if they find a way to breakdown all the walls and put together all their remarkable pieces, they could truly share something so beyond worth it.

My heart went to Megan’s character right from the start. That girl has been through it all, and much is revealed about her past and how things came to be over the course of the story. Megan has gone through way more than what any person deserves. I hurt for what she went through, I connected so truly to what she was experiencing and feeling, and I cared for her so fiercely as she went through her breathtaking and heart squeezing journey in this book.

Even though Megan has experienced a world of pain and hurt, there is such a strength to her character attempting to push through. A fire and an effervescent spirit that is giving it her all for herself and for her daughter. I can’t say enough how much I respected, loved, and admired her and the tenacity that flowed from her even in those very dark moments. Megan is a gem of a character, who will just blow you away with everything she’s got.

Liam Beckett won me over not only with his heart stopping smile, but with his heart of gold that was bursting with so much authentic, raw, and honest feeling. There is just such a goodness to his character that you feel right from the start. What he feels for Megan and for her daughter will warm your heart, while also quite possibly bursting an ovary or two.

What I think I loved most about Liam was the level of fight that he had, and that he wasn’t afraid to put it all out there for Megan. He was there for her, and through it all he kept pushing and fighting with all of his might because he knew they could share something extraordinary, if they were only given the chance to. He also wasn’t too proud to put all of his feelings and intentions out there, and he did that so genuinely with such integrity, that I guarantee there is no way you won’t fall under the spell of his character. It’s simply impossible not to love him.

Liam and Megan’s story was definitely a journey. It had its ups and downs, and it definitely puts your heart through the ringer a bit with all that these two go through, but I am telling you that you will bask in everything you get with them both. Even in those moments where you’re feeling every heart squeezing moment so fully in your heart and when your tears are flowing freely, you’ll love it because of the extraordinary experience you’re getting with Liam and Megan.

You feel them. You get them. Your root for them. You love them.

I can’t tell you how many times I had tears come to my eyes when I read this book, or how many times my heart literally squeezed because of what I was feeling while reading. I lost count. I can tell you though that I highlighted practically half of the book because the words were just that meaningful, and they needed to be remembered. That is just a true testament to the real literary magic that Harper Sloan created and conveyed in Bleeding Love.

I have read and loved all of Harper Sloan’s books, and I have to say that when I read a book by her it feels like coming home. That might sound super cheesy, but it couldn’t be more true. Her phenomenal writing, outstanding stories, and fantastically dynamic characters just continue to enrapture me within their amazingness. I love what I get to feel when reading these books and spending time with all of these remarkable characters. They completely steal my heart each and every time, and I continue to be swept away in the wonderfulness that is the world of Harper Sloan’s books.

Bleeding Love was no different. The minute I started it, I knew I was going to love it fiercely. About 10% in I had a feeling it would be my new favorite book from this author, and by the halfway point I knew without a doubt that this was assuredly my favorite book of Harper Sloan’s to date. I will say that that surprised me a little bit, not because I didn’t think I’d love this book because I knew that I would, but because Locke had been my favorite character in the world of this author’s books since the moment I met him in Axel (Harper Sloan’s first book), so of course his book had always been special.

I’ve loved all of Harper Sloan’s magnificent characters. They’ve each stolen a little distinctive piece of my heart because they’re all kind of fabulous, and until this book I think Locke owned the biggest piece. But with one heart melting smile from one Liam Beckett, Liam’s piece became just a bit bigger. Then I read this book, and got to feel the goodness and wonderfulness emanating from that man, and the piece of my heart belonging to Liam, and Megan and Molly for that matter, got even bigger.

Bleeding Love was everything. It gives you every single authentic, amazing, and emotionally heart stopping thing you could ever want in a story. You feel every ounce of what you read in this book, and it reminds you of why feeling a book so fully is nothing short of wonderful. It’s a story of what happens when two people begin to realize that love is worth giving everything to, worth every bit of fight you have, and worth every incredibly breathtaking and heart pulling moment it can give you.

Like I said, Bleeding Love was everything, and you’re going to want to experience that superb level of everything right this very second. Believe me. That everything is everything.

Excerpt

His mouth leaves mine and with his hand still on my leg, he demands, “Dig your heels in deep, baby.”

I give him what he wants, but not because he told me to. I give him what he wants because when his hand leaves my leg and pushes into the mattress, bringing his body up he goes even deeper into my body and those heels push hard.

Just as he demanded earlier, my hands go to his shoulders on my own accord and as he takes my body hard, my nails dig in with my heels still pushing hard against the small of his back. Our eyes never leave each other’s probing gaze. Never once do I take my eyes away from his, so full of lust that I know there isn’t an ounce of control left in his body.

He drops his head and I lift up to meet him in a kiss so sweet it doesn’t match the powerful way that he’s taking my body. A kiss that gives me more than words ever could at this moment. His hips slow and as his tongue rolls against mine, his hips start to take me in slow, deep rolls. He doesn’t pull back, just rocks his hips against mine.

I push up and cry out when he slips even deeper.

His lips come from mine and his hooded eyes open a sliver. “Feels like heaven,” he says softly. “Everything, darlin’. Feels like everything.”
