Synopsis2

Branson Wellington? The name, my name, is usually followed by arrogant prick or self-serving bastard, and I can’t say I haven’t earned those titles. It’s true. I’m not the good guy. I’m not the boy next door. I’m definitely not your Prince fucking Charming. Not even close.

And I never wanted to be. Until her. The day I pulled her from the wreckage was the day that my life changed.

Who would have thought that one little lie had the power to throw two lives off course?
Love has never been in the cards for me, but now that she’s here, I have no idea how I’m ever going to let her go. Even if I don’t deserve her.

Because like I said, I’m a self-serving bastard and some things never change.

Just a little tease…

Excerpt

“There are some questions I need to ask you, but we can do that in a little bit. Until then, is there anyone you want us to call? Someone on scene was able to find your purse, which fortunately hadn’t been destroyed in the blast. There was no emergency contact information in your purse, however, and you’ve only been out of surgery for a couple of hours. We haven’t been able to track anyone down as of yet.”

The last thing I want is Victoria and William showing up here, especially with Benjamin in tow. Not wanting to worry anyone, I decide I’ll call Alyssa once things calm down. “No, I’m not from around here, and the last thing I want to do is worry my family. When I’m feeling a little more rested, I’ll give them a call.”

The nurse gives me an understanding smile, and I sigh with relief that she’s not going to push me on this. At least not yet. “Okay, Ms. Covington. I understand completely. I’ll just set your purse here, and if you feel up to it, your cell is still inside. Now, I need to answer this page, but if you need anything in the meantime, don’t hesitate to hit the nurses’ call button. You may feel a little drowsy from the pain medication, so for now, try to get some rest.”

I watch as she leaves the room before I rest my head on my pillow, replaying the events of the past twenty-four hours. What should’ve been the prelude to one of the best days of my life has turned into a nightmare. Instead of wearing a white wedding dress, I’m stuck in a hospital gown. And even now, my fiancé—or, well, former fiancé—is the last man on my mind. No, instead, I’m thinking about the beautiful man who saved my life. Who once told me that he was beyond saving.

The night I met Branson Wellington, he was a mess. A drunken, pitiful, angry mess. This evening, I saw no signs of that man. I saw confidence. I saw arrogance. I saw determination. But I also saw the pain, the anger, the frustration. That broken man is still in there no matter what strides he’s made since that night eight months ago. Tonight, he saved me. And even though he once said that it’s impossible, I’m making it my mission to save him, too.

love 2

I just spent the last 9 nights in bed with Colleen Hoover, and it was the best.

2496 pages. 2 whole tissues. 5 unique couples. Countless extraordinary supporting characters.

8 books. 9 unforgettable nights.

I have spent the last nine nights in bed with Colleen Hoover, and it was unforgettable. It was sensational. It was phenomenal in every way. She doesn’t disappoint.

I have loved these nights. I will always remember these nights…

Now when I say I spent the last nine nights with Colleen Hoover I think I may have painted a slightly inaccurate picture for you.

Did Colleen Hoover herself sit in bed with me? Well, no. Unless she was hiding behind my pillows, which could be possible because who knows, maybe she likes to do that.

Did Colleen Hoover herself offer me a total of 2 Kleenex’s to dry my baby tears as I cried reading her books? Well that’s a no again too. Though I totally think she’d offer me some Kleenex if she could. She seems like a giver.

Did Colleen Hoover herself help push my jaw back into place after it repeatedly fell to the ground after reading each and every single one of her utterly magnificent books, as I became more and more blown away? Yeah that one’s a no too. (And if anybody wants to help me, I think my jaw is still on the floor from reading these books. I could use some help with that.)

No, Colleen Hoover didn’t really do any of those things these past 9 nights that I spent fully encapsulated by her books. But I like to think that she was here in spirit through her books, her words, her pictures and the magic that I literally felt flow out of these pages. I think I’m in full on love mode.

(Okay, so there weren’t actually pictures in any of her books, but I’m fully convinced that if there were, I would be sold on those too.)

I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I’ve smirked, I’ve smiled, I’ve grimaced. I’ve cared. I’ve felt more than I ever felt possible while reading. I’ve loved. And that all happened about 3 pages into each book. Don’t even get me started on what happened after page 3. I don’t think I’ll ever fully hop off that hamster wheel of awesomeness.

I’ve gone through approximately 2 tissues which is 2 more tissues than I usually use while reading, since as we all know, I have the emotional range of a piece of paper when it comes to crying while reading.

colleenhovoer

My beautiful stack of books by Colleen Hoover. Finding Cinderella is there in spirit.

I wasn’t prepared for what reading these books would allow me to experience. I wasn’t prepared to whole heartedly fall in love with multiple sets of characters over 8 seriously wonderful books. I didn’t expect to feel like the biggest idiot on the planet for waiting so long to discover said books. (But I’ll say it. I am an idiot for waiting so long to read them!)

I didn’t realize that by reading these books, I would discover an author that has now permanently cemented herself, her books, her characters, and her writing as some of my all-time favorites. I didn’t know. But now I do, and I couldn’t be more freaking over the butterflying moon about that.

Now I should note that before this 9 day binge read, I had read Ugly Love, Collen Hoover’s most recent release. I read this book because a book group I belonged to at the time was doing a group read of the book. I read the synopsis, and couldn’t wait to read it. I thought I would read the book, get to talk about it a bit, and that would be the end of the day. Nothing more, nothing less.

Boy was I effing wrong.

Ugly Love made me breakdown in tears in the middle of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I wasn’t prepared for the magnitude of emotion that was Ugly Love. I wasn’t prepared to fall head first into it, and I sure as hell didn’t expect for it to make me cry like a baby while waiting in a monstrous line in the “happiest place on earth.”

Yeah, I was that girl crying over a book while surrounded by hundreds of strangers at a theme park. Though I do think the 2 guys behind might have gotten a kick out of it.

Ugly Love is what started it all, and a few weeks later when I found myself at a book store “killing time” (which is a very expensive equation for me, since I can’t just look at books without buying them) I suddenly found myself with 6 new Colleen Hoover books. And 1 free e-book of Finding Cinderella.

Because binge reading is for winners or for people who are really slow on the uptake of books they should have already read by now…

Thus began my nightly time with Colleen Hoover and her books.

9 nights, 2496 pages, 2 whole tissues, 5 unique couples, countless extraordinary supporting characters, and 8 books later I was done. I was sold.

(And yes, I counted.)

After those 9 nights, I was completely sold on anything Collen Hoover had written, and I feel safe saying I’m am pretty much sold on anything else she may write in the future. 9 nights of reading left me as an emotional wreck, but I honestly couldn’t have been happier about that.

I will never forget those nights. Ever. I will never forget all that Colleen Hoover’s beyond magnificent writing created for me in those nights. The stories, the characters, the emotions, the smirks, the magic. Everything. Everything she created blew me away, and the more and more I read, the more and more I fell in love with it all.

I wish I could go back and experience all of that again because it was fabulous, and breathtaking, and utterly wonderful. It was everything.

So if you haven’t already, you should definitely hop on the Collen Hoover train. Like yesterday. Sometimes that train is a bit crazy, and it will sure as hell make you feel everything, but through it all you’ll just love the ride, and its freaking beyond phenomenal conductor Colleen Hoover. Because believe me:

It’s one unforgettable mother effing ride. With one bad ass conductor.

And that folks, is pure reading magic.

After an ugly divorce, Brynn Baron-Wilde swore off men and created a new life in a quaint upstate touristy town where she runs a successful bakery and tearoom. Brynn has everything mapped out and she’s got no time for distractions.

And then along came Jackson Merrill – former Army medic turned talented renovation specialist. Jax enters Brynn’s well-ordered life and proceeds to shake up her world.

He’s a bit on the dented and dinged side after his military service and she’s dealing with a stealth attack from her grandmother who’s added manipulative clauses to her will that threaten Brynn’s hold on her house and business.

Sometimes fate and destiny have a sense of humor along with some questionable timing. Are these two destined to be together or will her reluctance and his issues keep them apart? When a stunning turn of events complicates things even more, things sure do get interesting – meddling parents and all.

 Excerpt

“Ariana, do you know what I do for a living?”

Her eyebrows knit together in confusion. “Well, I know you work for your dad’s company. You’re on track to be CEO one day, but as for the overall day-to-day stuff? No, I have no idea. Why?”

“Mergers. Acquisitions. Take-overs. When there’s something I want, I won’t—hell, I don’t—stop until it’s mine. That’s why I’m the best in the business. I never fail. I always get what I want.”

She places a hand on her hip and gives me a challenging look. “And if it’s not yours for the taking?”

God, I love when she tests me. She’s such a fucking paradox. I love her sweet and compliant. I love when she’s bossy and insolent. It’s so contradictory and more than anything I’ve ever wanted in a woman. I can’t get enough.

“I make an offer you can’t refuse.”

She moves forward, places her hands on either side of me, and leans in close. “Then I guess we better start negotiating.”

 Teaser new 2
My Review

 *****5 Unforgettable Stars*****

Life Support by Zoe Norman is an utterly fantastic conclusion to the story and characters they created in Rescue Breathing. This book picks right where the last book left off, and in about 2.5 seconds you will be fully engrossed again in Owen and Olivia’s story. This book will capture you in, and it won’t let you go until well after you’ve finished the last word.

Life Support is a new chapter in Owen and Olivia’s relationship, and it follows the many ups and downs they face as they once again try to figure out all that is between them.

I cannot rave enough about this book. It had so many outstanding aspects to it, and I couldn’t get enough of the characters, their story, and all the amazingness that was this book. Life Support had it all and more to make it a beyond outstanding reading experience.

What I adored about Life Support:

  • How hard and passionately Owen feels. Owen and his highly charming self just about melted my heart on every page. Literally. He feels with everything he’s got, and he owns every single thing he feels. I loved that about him. The fierceness and the level with which he feels towards Olivia is exceptional, and it just made me love him to death. These authors do an outstanding job of capturing those feelings and weaving them so thoughtfully throughout the entire book so that you can’t help but love this hot as all get out fireman who feels so deeply from the heart.
  • The very real Olivia. I absolutely adored how real and authentic Olivia’s character was. I could imagine her so easily, and the thoughts, doubts, questions, and emotions she had surrounding her relationship with Owen felt so real that I felt like I was actually experiencing them. Feeling and experiencing those things through Olivia’s eyes made me love and care for her character so fiercely from the beginning. Olivia is a real female character with flaws and quirks and so many things that just make her fantastic. She just blew my mind with how fabulous her character was, and I enjoyed every single second I got to spend in her spunky and very memorable head.
  • The heart stopping moments. This book is chalk full of moments that made my heart skip a beat. Some of those moments were from pure pain and emotion, while others were from sheer joy and happiness. And some of those heart stopping moments were from the electric heat between Olivia and Owen that fires off the page. Those moments made this book unstoppable. I even found myself thinking back to these moments’ days after finishing, and they still made my heart stop, while flooding me with the same level of emotion I felt when reading the 1st time. To feel that much days later is so freaking powerful, and made this book unforgettable for me. (I may or may not have started tearing up on the 95 north thinking about moments in this book…)
  • The level of emotion. The level of emotion and feeling in the book is outstanding. You get both characters perspectives, and you feel the huge level of ranging emotion they both have. It makes you feel every single little thing that happens so deeply. That level of emotion is well thought out, and extremely well developed and conveyed through this story. These writers did a magnificent job of making you feel it all, and you will love that.
  • The fire between Olivia and Owen. The chemistry and connection between these two is off the charts. I certainly felt that when reading Rescue Breathing, but it’s amped up a notch in this book. The heat, spark, and connection between Owen and Olivia fires off the page and you will feel that on every page. That makes it truly easy to get and love these two because you feel everything that’s going on between them.
  • The charm. The charm that weaves its way through this book is fantastic. You feel it in the banter and connection between Owen and Olivia. You feel it with the supporting characters that make this book shine. You feel it with every fiber of your body while reading every page. This book is bursting with charm, and that will make you feel oh so happy with a genuine smirk on your face throughout your entire reading experience.
  • The balance. There is a phenomenal balance between the many different kinds of moments in this book. The moments of pain, vulnerability and emotion will make your heart stop and have you instantly feeling and caring for the characters. The moments of heat and fire just exemplify what it is these two are fighting for. The moments of humor and fun just bring a real smile to your face, and the moments of love and happiness will fill you with so much bliss that you won’t know what to do with all the glow you’re feeling. These authors balanced all of that phenomenally, and that level of balance sets this book apart because it gives you everything you could want and need, from this one exceptional book.
  • The ups and downs. I like that this book put Owen and Olivia and their relationship through some things. They have to work for that happy they both want together. It also puts them in some pretty interesting situations that are highly engaging to read. I loved and lived for those ups and downs because it made me want to fight like hell for these two, while they faced the understandable and highly believable ups and downs that came there way.
  • The past. The past that these characters have individually rear their not so pretty heads in this book. The fears, doubts, and questions that come with those pasts are definitely something that is remarkable to read, but it explains so much about both Owen and Olivia. It was wonderful to read how that past incorporates into the present story, and reading how these characters face that past, made me love them even more.
  • The underlying theme of second chances. This book isn’t a second chance romance, but let’s just say Olivia and Owen get some additional chances. They both have their flaws, their pasts, and they both make some not so fantastic choices, but what they do when given a new opportunity or chance took my breath away in the best possible way. Those chances exemplify what makes these characters so wonderful to read, and why this entire book was out of this world.

Life Support has every single aspect that makes a book a 5 star read. The characters are so real you feel like you know them, and you will be fighting for them something fierce. The story will satisfy you in so many ways, and all of the intricate and well thought out pieces will come together in such an unforgettable way that will captivate you fully.

I HIGHLY recommend this book and its predecessor Rescue Breathing, because Owen and Olivia’s story has cemented itself as one of my all-time favorites. These books just burst with their amazingness. These two will engage you with their fiery magic from the moment you meet them, and you will be very sad to let them go, but that in no way lessens the fact that they will blow you away with everything they’ve  got.

The story and characters that Zoe Norman so wonderfully crafted may come to an end, but something tells me the reading magic they created in these books will stay with me long after reading the end, and that is something I will always love and remember.

ps. I tried REALLY hard to make this review spoiler free, which was so freaking hard with this one! This is why I mention very little about actual plot points because I couldn’t let anything slip. Like at all. After you read this book I think you’ll get how hard that was, so I totally deserve a really hot fireman for doing that, right?!….. 😉
