Review Post: Fixing Her by Miranda Elaine

FixingHer_PB.jpg

Fixing Her, an all-new friends to lovers romance from debut author Miranda Elaine is LIVE!

When we were younger, Temperance Price was the quiet girl with dreamy eyes who hung on my every word. She was always beautiful, but I had plans to get out of Red Oak and make a life of my own.

Ten years later, a crushing tragedy has brought me home again—right back to her.

The innocent girl I left is gone, and in her place is a sassy single mom I can’t get out of my head. She’s hired me to fix her house, but I have other things in mind.

She thinks I’m just a handyman.

She thinks we’re only friends.

She thinks I’ve never noticed her.

I think what really needs to be fixed is her whole perspective.

*****5 Completely Phenomenal Stars*****

Fixing Her by Miranda Elaine is a sweet, hilarious, and swoonworthy friends to lovers romance that I loved every single word of. From the very start of this book I was completely swept up into the magic, feels, fun, and unforgettable moments these characters were sharing. Temperance and Asher, and all of the other incredible characters of this book, made me smile, made me laugh, made my heart go pitter patter through every page, and I truly can’t say enough how much I enjoyed that.

This is Miranda Elaine’s debut novel, and let me tell you, you will be completely wowed by her writing and what she brings to life in the pages of this book. Her writing is so easy to sink right into, and she creates such a real world with authentic characters you will immediately be drawn to. Through her phenomenal writing she crafts a story that blends the perfect amount of humor, heart, and feels that will have you rooting for Temperance and Asher and all that they’re sharing together.

Miranda Elaine brings it all to life in this book that is so charming, so sweet, and so heartfelt. It has the best amount of moments that will have you laughing your ass off, moments that will have your heart and your ovaries swooning, and so many moments that will send your heart to these characters a million times over.

I was completely swept up into the literal sweetness and charm that Miranda Elaine so amazingly creates in this book, and I truly cannot say enough good things about this book, what it gives you, and this author and her incredible writing. I am telling you, if you give this book a chance you will be so beyond happy you did. Whether it’s making you laugh until you cry, whether it’s melting your heart and all your feels, or whether it’s tugging at your heart with what these characters go through, you will love this book.

You will love this book so damn much.

What I Absolutely Loved About Fixing Her:

  • The incredible and utterly hilarious Temperance Price. Temperance Price is a girl that I can wholeheartedly relate to, and I loved her fiercely from the second I met her. She is funny as hell, she’s not afraid to tell it like it is, and she’s doing the best she can for her and her daughter Ellie. What I loved about Temperance’s character was how strong she was, how honest and vulnerable she was too, and how she was doing all she could to give her daughter the life she deserved. That girl is tenacious, she is hysterical to the point that you might start tearing up or peeing your pants from laughing so hard with her, and she is just an honest to goodness good person. I loved that girl something fierce. I loved getting to be with her in this book as she learned more about herself, what she wanted, what she was willing to fight and hope for, and as she fought hard against what was happening between her and Asher, while falling so hard in the same breath. That girl is a gem of a character, and I am telling you, you will love her, respect her, and relate to her on every level.
  • Asher Kade is one helluva good guy.
  • Friends to lovers is my jam. Fixing Her is a fantastic friends to lovers romance, which is one of my all-time favorite kind of stories. I love friends to lovers romances because it creates such a solid foundation to everything these characters are building, plus it’s just oodles of fun getting to be there with them as they start as friends and lead to something so much more. Getting to see the budding friendship between Temperance and Asher, getting to be there as they affected each other, as they were so taken with each other, and as things started to cross that line into something more territory was nothing short of spectacular. Miranda Elaine does the most incredible job of putting you in the heart of it all as these two characters build that friendship, as they share those moments that push them towards more, as they start to feel that tangible spark overtaking them, and as everything changes. I loved getting to be there through every single step of that journey, and Miranda Elaine completely brought that to life in the most spectacular way.
  • All the laughs and all the heart. Let me tell you something right now, this book will make you laugh your ass off. Between the hilarious antics and moments with these characters, to their distinctive and vibrant personalities, they will have you laughing and smiling so hard your cheeks will hurt. Whether it’s Temperance or Asher, or Temperance’s precocious daughter Ellie, or any of the fantastic supporting characters of this world, they will have you smiling something fierce. The laughs and humor in this story make it a highly enjoyable read that will show you Miranda Elaine knows how to craft one helluva romantic comedy. Not to be outdone, the feels and heart of this book will melt you in your seat. I loved that about Fixing Her. I loved that on one page I could be laughing so hard I was tearing up, and that on the next page I would be tearing up with all the feels and the sweetness of it all. Miranda Elain perfectly balanced that dynamic to create a story with heart and laughs that will truly touch your heart in more ways than one.
  • Small towns and good friends are for winners. Fixing Her is a book that takes place in the small town of Red Oak. I loved the feel of this town, I loved how Miranda Elaine made it so genuinely real with such memorable characters. I loved how I just enjoyed being there, spending time with all of these characters and getting a feel for that place. I especially loved how that town was almost like a character itself with what it did to these characters and what it made them think about with their pasts, presents, and futures. This author did such an amazing job of adding that dynamic into this book with these characters. The supporting characters and friends of Asher and Temperance are a big part of this story, and I absolutely loved getting to know and fall in love with them all!! I’ve got my fingers crossed that Miranda Elaine will take us back to Red Oak because I for one never really wanted to leave!
  • Did you say debut?! I know this is Miranda Elaine’s debut novel, but seriously y’all, if I didn’t know that I would’ve never guessed it because she her writing and style is so fantastic. There is so much life and personality to her words, so much heart and honesty, so much vibrancy that paints a very wonderful and alluring picture that I could not get enough of. Her writing brought the world of this book and characters to life in a way that made this book so easy to read and enjoy, and I for one can’t wait to see where that writing takes her and her books after this phenomenal debut. Her writing was truly fantastic, and I loved how it put me right there with her characters as it all unfolded. That is just one of the many things I loved about this book.

Fixing Her by Miranda Elaine was a seriously fantastic read that made me laugh, made me smile through and through, and that completely stole my heart from start to finish. This debut novel is charming on every level and tells a friends to lovers romance that will truly sweep you off your feet. What you get with Asher and Temperance as they become friends, as they fall for one another, and as they see what really could be between them will have you beyond in love with everything you get with those two.

What Miranda Elaine so incredible brings together in this book will have you believing in everything Asher and Temperance are sharing together, all while hoping that those two tenacious and determined characters can find a way to make it work.

Every word of this book pulled me in even more to what I was reading, and when I reached that last page I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. This book, the world and dynamic characters it brings to life, and that moments that will have you so in it all with them will have you loving every single second of this book. I truly can’t say enough good things about it or what Miranda Elaine gave me with them along the way, and I am telling you if you read this book, you will love it!

After I read this book my heart was happy, my cheeks hurting something fierce from laughing and smiling so hard, and I felt so fulfilled with what I got with Temperance and Asher, along with every other fantastic character in this book…and honestly, it doesn’t get better than that.

So do yourself a solid, and read this book. Read it, love it, and embrace every lively and memorable moment of it.

You won’t regret it. I promise.

It’s a Cover Reveal: Chasing Clouds by Kathryn Andrews

Title: Chasing Clouds
Author: Kathryn Andrews
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 19, 2018
Cover Image: Perrywinkle Photography
Cover Designer: Heart to Cover
Reid Jackson
I’m a simple guy. There are only two things I love: my family and playing professional football.
I may not understand why people get married, but I’d go anywhere for my brother, even his friend Camille’s wedding. Once I’m there, I realize our Bronx upbringing has left me unprepared for the world of old Southern money. Over twenty-four hours, I see scandal, threats, and lies. It’s a life I don’t relate to, a place I never want to belong. Even so, when the minister asks if anyone objects, I shock not only myself but also the beautiful bride when I stand up and say, “I do.” I don’t know her, she doesn’t know me—but deep down, I knew I had to make that move.
Camille Whitley
As a political socialite in the South, nothing about my life is simple.
For years I’ve known I’d one day be standing at the altar, about to marry a man I don’t love. In Savannah, family expectations and appearances are everything, but none of it’s real. I hate what I’ve become, and I dream of being free. So, when an opportunity suddenly presents itself in the form of a stranger with captivating green eyes, I find myself asking what’s best for me: the plan or the unknown? I don’t know him, he doesn’t know me—but if I’m going to make a move, it’s now or never.

“This has officially become my favorite first date ever.” He pauses, and I feel the side of his mouth tip up as the day-old stubble on his cheek brushes against my skin. “Kissing at the beginning instead of the end, mmm.” The sound rumbles from his chest and into mine. I like the way it feels more than I should, and deciding I don’t want to wait anymore, I push up on my toes to seal my mouth to his.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Reid today, it’s that he doesn’t do anything halfway. He’s either all in or all out, and with this kiss, he’s all in.
When he licks across my bottom lip, I gladly open to him and allow his warmth to sink into me. Part of me thinks I should feel bad about wanting this kiss so much—after all, I’m supposed to be married to someone else—but I don’t. I want this kiss. No, I need this kiss, and I can tell he does too as his hand on my lower back moves to cradle the other side of my face. He holds my head, angling and moving me to just where he wants me, and I’m more than happy to comply. Over and over his tongue twists with mine as his mouth, lips, and breath take what they want. Every part of me is tingling, and I’m in complete euphoria as I surrender to this moment and just feel . . . feel him, his fingers, his heart beating against his chest, and how he’s wordlessly promising me he’s got this and everything is going to be okay.

THE LINE BELOW

New Adult Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

From #1 Amazon Sports Fiction bestseller comes a standalone new adult romance about a collegiate swimmer who falls for an Olympic track star.

Water. The place where I feel at peace.

Free from the expectations. Away from the judgement. Weightless from the obligations.

When I slip under the cool surface, I’m no longer sinking from the demands of family, school and the choices that I must make. Chase my dream of the Olympics or follow the expected career path? What will it be?

I’m not usually one to rock the boat – that’s my twin sister’s role. I find myself in uncharted territory when I meet Jett Decker on my twenty-first birthday. It’s not like me to get swept off my feet, but when I do, it creates waves with those closest to us.

Chemistry ignites, jealousy spikes and tension builds the more we’re together. Sometimes in real life the lines between what is wanted and what must be done get blurred. Not everything is crystal clear, like the line below.

Excerpt:

My hips are swaying sensually to the rhythm of the beat as Kick and Beatrice are both doing the vertical dry hump thing with different guys. I’m debating whether to wait for Julian or call it a night when I catch sight of what can only be described as an athlete’s body walking decisively in my direction. My eyes meet the chocolate brown of his as he draws closer. Even though I think he’s staring right at me, I fight the urge to look around to check if it’s me he’s coming for, or someone else.

That’s the only way to explain how this guy is walking – like he’s coming for me with a specific purpose in mind. I don’t even consider doing my usual head-duck-and-slip-away move like I normally would in this situation. But this situation isn’t normal, because by the time he reaches me, I’m barely breathing anticipating his next move.

He stops inches away, and I can’t raise my eyes to meet his. They’re stuck on his broad shoulders and muscled arms, then sliding down to his trim waist, and jeans that barely hide the firm muscles underneath. A strobe light passing by reveals caramel skin. He’s solid and strong without having that overly-muscled look. My lips curve up slightly as I wonder what he’d look like in a Speedo. I’d know if he was a swimmer though, because it’d be him I’d have been crushing on for years, not Julian Reed.

Wait. What? Whoa.

When my eyes finally meet his, there’s a smirk on his lips. I don’t even realize my body’s been moving this whole time to the beat of the music until he places his hands firmly on my hips and matches my movements. His hands feel like they’re searing my skin.

And for the first time, I totally get the urge to press my body against a complete stranger. Actually, it’s not even an urge, it’s a magnetic force because without even deciding whether it’s a good idea, I’ve moved closer until we’re chest to chest, my hips pressed up to his thighs, my arms around his neck.

I don’t do intimate like this with a guy who’s done nothing but smirk at me. But God, it feels so good. His hands slip lower, resting low enough to be inappropriate. All of this is inappropriate. I let my head drop back and close my eyes, tossing away the responsible voice in my head and letting myself just go with it. Ride this wave of… whatever the hell it is. Indulgence? Definitely. The word “free” flushes through me as my hips slide with his body, but it’s not quite that. If only because I know it’s temporary. It doesn’t even seem real.

He hitches up the leg between mine until my toes barely touch the ground. I’m writhing on him, the friction of his jeans rubbing me as we slide in a sensual rhythm. We’re in sync with one another, our movements smooth and fluid, and my body sinks deeper into his, the sensations overwhelming me.

The music’s too loud to hear anything, not even my own breathing. But my heart is beating with such force that I feel it in my toes. I want this to keep going, but as the beat shifts to a new tune, I sense my dancing partner pulling away and I let myself slide to the ground. He holds my elbows, keeping me steady until I’m balanced and standing on my own two feet.

We hold each other’s gaze for a few beats until he flashes that same smile that started all this. He leans down, and I think he’s about to kiss me but his hand grazes the top of my dress, and I feel his finger drop inside. He’s placed a piece of paper between my breasts. Okay, that was not what I was expecting.

“That’s my number.” His lips brush my ear as he says it, making sure I hear him over the music. “You should call me. I’m free tomorrow night.”

I’m practically panting, but he turns and walks away. My eyes follow the path of his departure, lingering on his butt, branding it to memory, as my legs struggle to keep me upright. I feel bereft from his absence, and he was only with me for one song. His presence succeeded in turning me boneless, melting into a puddle on the dance floor, while I wonder, what the hell just happened?

Having cancer is an invitation to be touched. Doctors.
Nurses. Sympathetic friends. An overbearing mother. For months, I dreaded
having someone else’s hands on my body.
But now? Now I crave it. Especially with Clay staring at me
like I’m the only one who can quench his thirst. I’d gladly be his water. The
glass. Hell, I’d even be the ice cubes if he’d give me a few hours and a
freezer.
“Um, will you tie me?” I give myself ten bonus points—five
for speaking coherently and five for omitting the word “up” at the end.
He smiles and steps behind me, and my skin prickles in
anticipation. Even my goose bumps want to be as close to him as possible. But
none of that compares to the second his fingers brush the skin on my shoulders.
I officially take back every curse word I aimed at Rebecca when I opened my
suitcase.
I’m baking her a cake as soon as I get home.
“Is that too tight?” Clay’s voice is deeper, huskier, and
damn if that’s not the sexiest thing I’ve heard in…ever. I want to say yes, so
he’ll have to start over, but a girl only has so much self-control. He’d
probably say something like “how do you want it?” and then I’d turn around and
hump his leg because I’m all about hands-on demonstrations.
“It’s perfect.”
“Great. I’ll double-knot it so you can just slip it over
your head next time.”
I’d be sad if it wasn’t for the light squeeze he gives my
neck when he’s done. Committing that feeling to memory, I pull a tank top over
my head and slide my feet into my sneakers, shoving all thoughts of molesting
Clay out of my mind. “Where do you want to go first?”
“Shouldn’t I be asking you
that?” The edges of his mouth tip up.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m the world’s worst Hawaiian.” I shoot
playful daggers at him.
“Hey, you said it, not me.” He holds his palms out,
proclaiming his innocence. “Thankfully, one of us came prepared. I was thinking
of a short hike and then maybe some paddle boarding.”
It’s my turn to lift a hand. “The hike sounds fine, but one
of us did not come prepared for paddle boarding. Unless you don’t mind going in
circles.” His eyes crinkle as I simulate rowing with my stump.
“Don’t worry, this place has two-person paddle boards.” He
pulls the keys to our rental Jeep from his pocket and twirls the ring around
his finger. “Ready?”

Synopsis:

Heather Myles isn’t exactly thrilled to accompany her groupie roommate to an Emerald Phoenix concert. The aspiring screen writer would rather be home with a good book. After the performance, Jett Draconis, lead singer and guitarist for the band, isn’t up for the party scene. He’s grown tired of being mauled by horny devotees…until an auburn-haired goddess catches his eye. Though she initially rebuffs his advances, he’s determined not to take no for an answer. Sparks erupt between him and Heather, but Jett knows better than to fall in love. A secret from his past could destroy him—and everyone close to him—if he does.
