Synopsis2

Luke Evans is a heartbreaker.

I didn’t want to give mine to him. Not when he kept me out.

He gave me enough, just enough to make me fall in love with him. I say this to convince myself. But I know the truth.

I would’ve fallen in love with him at a distance.

Handing my heart over to Luke was the easiest thing  I’ve ever done. I was naive when I wished for more, when I hoped he wanted the  same things I did.

I try to hate him. I try to forget him.

But it’s not that easy.

Love is a ruthless bitch, and I’m her latest victim.

 Tessa Kelly is a man-eater.

When she sets her sights on you, she doesn’t just  consume your heart, she goes for your soul.

What we had was perfect, real, and all I would ever want.

But she destroyed it.

She destroyed us.

I try to hate her. I try to forget her.

But it’s not that easy.

Love is for people who have hope, and I have none.

Prologue
Two months ago
No.
No.
No.
Jesus. Fuck, no.
There are absolutely zero good-looking men at this thing. Besides Reed, who disappeared an hour ago with some giggly brunette, and the man I refuse to acknowledge. Weddings are supposed to be a breeding ground for nameless hook-ups, and I’m shit out of luck at this one. So  instead of getting drilled in a concealed corner somewhere, my dress bunched around my waist as a stranger becomes familiar with my sounds, I’m having to   other ways to pass the time.
Eat cake.
Hit up the open bar.
Eat more cake.
Dance with Nolan.
Get cake with Nolan.
Steal Mia away from Ben.
Watch Mia get carried off by Ben.
And now this.
Sitting at an empty table, watching as Ben, Mia, and Nolan all slow dance together. Nolan’s in between them, rubbing Mia’s growing baby bump, while Ben can’t seem to keep his eyes off his new wife. I’m  crazy happy for them, but right now, I can’t watch them share another perfect  family moment in front of me. I need a break from this. Just a few minutes to get some air.
I step out of the tent and head across the  lawn toward the Estate House. I’m walking aimlessly, not having any destination  in mind. I just need to get away from all the love for a second. Love is great  when you’re with someone. It’s better when it’s reciprocated. But it fucking  sucks when that shit is one-sided.
And that’s the only way I’ve known it.
I walk down the side of the building and  turn right to go around the back. As soon as I round the corner, I see him.
He’s leaning against the building behind  some shrubs, head back, eyes closed, lips slightly parted. His sandy-brown hair  is cut shorter than normal, almost buzzed completely, and it does really  annoying things to his face. Like show it off more. Those ridiculously gorgeous  features of his are on display for my eyes right now, and I don’t have to avert
my gaze because he doesn’t know I’m watching. He has no idea I’m staring at his  sharp, angular cheekbones, the fullness of his mouth, or the bump at the bridge  of his nose that I see as this perfect imperfection.
God, I fucking love that bump.
His face tenses as his arms move to the front of his body, and I let my eyes roam to the reason for this change.
The blonde I recognize from the wedding is  on her knees with his cock lodged in her mouth, deep throating it until she  gags. His hands are in her hair, encouraging her, pulling her closer until she  practically swallows him whole. I lift my eyes to that face I was just secretly  admiring seconds ago. It’s no longer tempting me to keep my presence unknown.  Because there’s no way in hell I’m going to let this shit happen right now.
Fuck him, and his face.
I step in front of the bush and make a  fist, clearing my throat into it. Luke’s eyes shoot open and he grabs the  blonde’s head, sliding her off his cock. She releases it with a pop and a grunt  of disappointment. Apparently, she isn’t finished. But she looks pretty fucking  finished to me.
Luke tucks himself away quickly. “What the  fuck, Tessa? What are you doing?”
I look from him to the blonde. “Oh,  sweetie. You might want to go disinfect. He’s got the herp.”
Slutty blonde parts her lips as if she’s  waiting for another cock. She stands and wipes her mouth with the back of her  hand, glaring in Luke’s direction. “Oh my God. Are you serious? You have  herpes?”
Luke’s wide eyes train on mine. “What? No I  don’t!”
“He’s really sweet about it though,” I say,  looking sympathetically at the blonde. “He pays for my Valtrex every month.” I  turn my eyes to Luke, letting out a swooning sigh. “So romantic.”
Blonde shoves against Luke’s chest. “You’re  disgusting.”
“I don’t have fucking herpes!” Luke  adamantly vows as he tightens his belt.
I watch, basking in my victory as blonde  trudges through the grass, getting her heel caught in the process. She stumbles  a bit, glares at Luke over her shoulder, and disappears around the corner.
“I can’t fucking believe you just did  that,” Luke says, prompting me to whip my head around to look at him. He  buttons his suit jacket up and steps closer. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
You.
What happened between us.
And the fact that you’ve obviously moved on without any difficulty.
I close the gap and he freezes, his hand  flattening against his jacket. My gaze flicks from his crotch to his face, and  I mask all the hurt of seeing this asshole with another woman behind the fakest smile I’ve ever worn.
“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with me.  You, on the other hand, might want to go to the clinic. If you didn’t have an STD before that whore touched you, I’m sure you have one now.”

I turn and storm away before he can give me a comeback. But more importantly,  before he can see the smile fading from my lips.

 Excerpt
Sliding out of the booth, I sauntered across
the pub and ducked behind the counter. Nobody gave me a second glance. They
didn’t know who I was, nobody did, but they knew I wasn’t anybody good. Peering
through the window on the door, Mercy had her back turned, wiping at her damp
T-shirt. I could step into her from behind and show her how hard I was…but that
wasn’t the way this game was going to be played.
Pressing the door open with the flat of
my palm, she looked up at me with blue eyes that gave away two things. Her hair
wasn’t naturally black and by the way her pupils dilated, she was amped up. I
was interested in only one of these observations and by the way my cock began
to stir, there was no guessing which one was the money shot.
Mercy glared up at me, trying to cover
her surprise at my appearance.
“What the fuck do you want?” she spat,
dabbing at her tiny T-shirt with a rag. “You’re not allowed back here.
Employees only.”
I stepped closer, not put off by her
tone at all. I’d had worse.
“I don’t give a shit,” I said.
She eyed me, her gaze raking from head
to cock and back up again.
I quirked an eyebrow, my lip curling in
amusement.
“If you want something, just fucking say
it,” she said with an exasperated sigh. “I don’t even know who the fuck you
are.”
“X.”
“X, what?” she said, putting her hands
on her hips. Bitch didn’t miss a trick.
“It’s my name.”
“X as in the letter x?” She
rolled her eyes.
“Got a problem?” I asked,
inching closer.
“Yeah.” She nodded at me. “You’re in a
staff only area. You might be all buddy buddy with Weiss, but I don’t know you
from shit.”
“The mouth on you,” I breathed, totally
turned on. I knew she had bite in her, but fucking Jesus H Christ. The more she
bit, the harder I got. My gaze rested on her tits. Yeah, I was a tits man
through and through and hers…
“You think I’m going to let you fuck
me?” she scoffed, her bluntness doing nothing but turning me on even more.
My gaze snapped back to hers. “Who said
I was going to fuck you?”
She pressed her hips forward, her groin
rubbing into mine. “Your cock.”
My hand shot up and grasped the hair at
the nape of her neck. With a sharp tug, her head fell to the side, leaving her
neck exposed. If I was an asshole, I’d just take her now, but I wasn’t…fuck
that. I was an asshole. Asshole was too safe a word to describe the kind
of man I was.
“No,” I said, running my gaze down her
pale neck and over her tits. “No, I’m not going to fuck you, Mercy.” She gave
me a look that screamed ‘offended’ and it only made me grin wider. “Not here.
When I fuck you, I’m not going to share your screams with anyone.”
Her entire body shivered and I knew I
had her. Next time, she would come to me.
Letting her go, I let her hair run
between my fingers and it took her a beat too long to step back and separate
our bodies.
Giving her one last appreciative look, I
turned on my heel and exited the ‘employee only’ room. I could wait. My cock
strained against my jeans in protest, but this was one desire I was playing out
and savoring.
I strode across the bar and pushed out
the door, rearranging myself.
I could wait.

Synopsis2

Ivy League Cowboy
Dusty O’Donovan, an accomplished bull rider, isn’t afraid to ride El Diablo, a feisty stud whose owner, Zach McCray, is offering $500,000 to anyone who can stay on him for a full eight seconds. Though Zach refuses to let a woman ride his bull, he’s intrigued by the headstrong Dusty, who he last saw when he was thirteen and she was six. Sparks fly when they’re together, but will Dusty’s secrets tear them apart?
A Cowboy and a Gentleman
Newly divorced Dallas McCray wants a sweet country girl like his sister-in-law, so why is he lusting after the new veterinarian in town, striking New Jersey transplant Annie DeSimone? Also divorced, Annie yearns to leave her difficult past behind and start a new life in beautiful Colorado. Sparks fly between her and handsome cowboy Dallas, but attraction and emotion aren’t always enough…especially when a cowboy has vowed never to make the same mistake twice.

 Early praise for Cowboy Heat…

Praise for Ivy League Cowboy

These two are downright lovable! You are rooting for them to get together from the get go. The chemistry between them is smoking HOT, and…once they get in bed you will need a fan.
~Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Holy smokes, that was hot. This is a true erotic romance. There’s a lot of sex, but it was there for a reason… I cried twice (not in a bad way) and had quite a few hearty chuckles at the subtle humor… I got my tidy happily-ever-after ending and stayed up until 4:45 a.m. to get it. I read this through in one sitting, and started the spin-off, A Cowboy and a Gentleman, at 4:46… Helen Hardt isn’t a one-trick pony: where Ivy League Cowboy has an underlying sweetness to it, A Cowboy and a Gentleman crackles with the fire of attraction between a more mature couple and has a lot more situational humor.
~Award Winning Author Holley Trent

Fast-paced and sensual, this story is a nice rainy-day read while you’re snuggled up next to your partner.
~Bibliophilic Book Blog

Praise for A Cowboy and a Gentlemen

This is a wonderful book! It has it all! It is so hot at times you feel like your e-reader just might melt and it also gets all your emotions involved… I could not stop reading it till I was finished.
~Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Heartbreaking, yet sensual and explosive, A Cowboy and a Gentleman is a true love story with real emotional depth and character development.
~Bibliophilic Book Blog

A yummy cowboy and a saucy Jersey girl make up this fun couple, and their chemistry is easy to believe. Both divorced, they each have pasts that they must overcome in order to move forward and love again. It was easy to cheer for both of them… The small town setting of Bakersville adds to this book’s appeal.

Chapter 1

Reeves

Present Day, Cleveland, Ohio

“I’ll tell you what, wait for half an hour ‘til my shift ends and I’ll take you up to my hotel room,” I say, bored, running a damp cloth over the bar’s dark surface, deliberately taking my time before rewarding the redhead ogling me with a look. Her eyes dart fire at me. Now she has the nerve to start playing innocent? She’s been eye fucking me the entire shift, and doing nothing short of climbing over the bar and jumping my bones for the last fifteen minutes. Besides actually asking me to honor her with what she’d been nearly begging for, she didn’t skip even one of the bimbo commandments.

She’s chemically over-red, too artificially tanned, done tits, a nice rack I must admit, but still unnaturally enhanced. Any other time I’d be all over this. Probably have her take the edge off, gladly. But not tonight. I’m not in the mood. I can’t stop thinking about what happened before my shift. I still can’t believe I allowed that kiss to happen. I could kick myself for it. I should kick myself for it.

“Oh. Em. Gee!” Hugh Hefner’s employee of the month squeaks at me. Even her voice annoys the crap out of me. It’s been gradually getting on my nerves, especially when she tried to make it sound sexy, somewhere between shoving a twenty into my right, front pocket, to fucking grazing her claws over my chest. “You are so full of yourself! You must be dreaming if you think I’d set a foot in your hotel room,” Red huffs, taking a sip of her “classy” cocktail. Her pink banal drink just compliments the “sophisticated” look she’s trying so hard to pull off. I send my eyes to the black ceiling. A person’s alcohol preference can reveal so much. I personally prefer women who appreciate high-class liquor.

I raise an eyebrow at her, not missing the way she’s eyeballing the ink on my bicep. “Okay, so no go.” I shrug and turn to the guy next to her. “Yep?”

“Two pina coladas.”

Are you for real? Who drinks those anymore? I turn to mix the joke of a drink, covertly rolling my eyes. I slide his drinks toward him and take the bills. Putting the notes in the narrow tray, I slam it back with a flat hand. Why did I agree to this shift? I should’ve just told Jake no. He sounded desperate when he called for the favor earlier this evening, earlier as in right after Katie kissed me. Fuck! If there was anything in this world I should not have allowed to happen, it was that kiss. How could I? Well, when it comes to Katie, I just lose all my guard, and the little, sweet devil knows that, too well. I close my eyes and scrub my hands over my bristled cheeks, sliding them further up to rest over my dark buzz cut. Exasperated, I heavily exhale my next breath.

“You seem stressed,” my stalker determines, drawing me from my thoughts. I bring my eyes to look at her. Oh, Jesus. Miss you-are-so-full-of-yourself raises a white flag. “I could help you release that stress,” she sucks on the moon shaped orange decorating her lame drink… seductively. And I need to keep myself from snorting. Maybe I should just let her suck me off and that’s it. Maybe it will help release some of the shit causing riots in my head.

“You think you can help me take this stress away, huh?” I change tactics, sending her a hint of a smile.

“I do.”

And 3…2…1… huge surprise, she flings her hair back and raises her 6K boob job at me in the universal slut code of “you’ll have me in the first stall before the night ends.” I reward her with an encouraging side smile, and push myself back from the counter. Saying nothing, I start toward the back office, aka Jakes’ place, aka hiding space when I’ve had enough.

“Listen, man, I’m done here for tonight.”

Jake nods, stands up, and pats my back in a thank you, bro signal. He gazes at me for a long beat. His brown, straight hair falls to almost hide his piercing brown eyes.

He scratches his five o’clock shadow and says, “Thanks for saving my ass tonight. That’s the problem with the women staff. You never know when they’ll start using cramp excuses.”

“You know you can get your ass sued for saying shit like that.” I chuckle, and his black, worn leather jacket rises and falls with his shrug.

“Reeves, you okay?” his brows sink together as he searches my eyes.

I sigh and twist my lips into a hard line. “Katie.”

Jake shakes his head in overt disapproval. “She is not your responsibility.” His voice comes out curt, even irritated.

“She is. She’ll always be.” I regard him with a look that tells him not to go on any further with this subject.

“I think I should put you on a new job, send you away for a while.” His way of not exactly letting go of the subject.

“Maybe you should,” I say pensively, heading to the door. I tap the doorpost. “And Jake? Next time no bartending, okay?”

“Got it,” he says, and follows me out. I drop the white waist apron to the counter, nod at him, and fling up the little door that sets me free from behind the bar. Jake takes my place, and starts flirting with a couple of cute brunettes while taking their drink orders.

“Welcome back.” The stress therapist’s red lips shine at me as soon as I reach her side. I just send my hand to the small of her back, unspoken, telling her to stand up and follow me. “My name is Neveah.” She giggles. Of course it is. I don’t even bother telling her my name as I know it’ll start a series of questions I’m not in the mood to answer. Anyhow, it’s not like she’ll ever have to use it. “Oh God, yes,” works just fine. As I direct us to the toilets, she turns to look at me questioningly.

“I can’t wait,” I lie, seriously debating calling this thing off. She smiles and inches on her toes to kiss my jaw. I manage to fabricate half a smile.

As soon as I lock the door behind us, she is all over me. She licks my neck while I send myself a harsh look over the mirror. Her straightened hair moves slowly from my neck to my chest, while her hands reach to unbuckle my belt. I observe the scene over the small room’s mirror as if I’m just a spectator. My face is constricted, the muscle above my square jaw line tightly clutched. My eyes are squinted as I rerun the scene with Katie earlier today in my head. Somehow it feels unholy to think about Katie while the stress relief crusader fiddles with my zipper. She slides her hand inside my boxer briefs and not a second later I grab her wrist, preventing her from taking it any further. I collect all possible tolerance I have left in me and help her straighten.

“Babe, I think we’ll have to continue this some other time,” I lie again. She smiles but her eyes turn a shade gloomier, making me feel like a total dick. “Let me take you back to the bar,” I try to make some sort of amends. She composes, blinks at me, and slips her hand to my jean’s back pocket. What the fuck?

When she’s done punching numbers into my phone, she hands it back to me, saying, “Call me.” Not waiting for my reaction, she unlocks the door, and sashays her skirt-clad ass back to the noisy, darkened, vast room.

Even before I push open the exit door to the chilled evening her number is deleted from my phone. What a day. My mood drops a notch lower as I think about not having a real home to go back to. The complex where I bought a duplex will be ready in two days. For the time being, I’m shacked at some hotel within walking distance from Jake’s. I crack my knuckles, having Katie’s confused look play before my eyes again. I must sort this mess out first thing tomorrow morning.

Synopsis2

***This book contains the GEGs! For those of you who don’t understand that warning: GEGs= strong language. gut-busting LOL moments caused by best friends who check their maturity at the door when they’re together, and impromptu Kegel exercises. This book does not come with batteries.

Though it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order since all books will have a continuation of EVERYONE’S story. Enjoy! ***

CiCi O’Brien has a weapon of mass destruction—her mouth. It’s always loaded and ready to strike, whether the situation calls for laughter or a professional smart a$$. It’s been her strongest suit against unwanted feelings, especially over the past fifteen years. If she acts like she doesn’t care, then she won’t, right?
Yeah . . . keep telling yourself that, Ceese!
Luckily for CiCi, she’s surrounded by friends and family, who can easily see through her façade. They (and the fur balls she takes care of at work) are the ones who enrich her life daily. And they have been the only ones she’s needed in her life. That is, until the day, her life changed, when she grabbed it by the balls.
No, seriously . . . she grabbed him by the balls. Not kidding. Nope. Keep reading.
Kyle Cooper has it all. He’s smart, handsome, and a Ninja (not really, but that’s what Mitch likes to call him). Being Vice President of Colton Technologies, he travels around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. At home, he’s a force to be reckoned with, always hanging out with his parents and sister or . . . working.
Oh.
Kyle Cooper does not have it all. He knows this and is ready to change it. He just doesn’t know where to begin. That is, until CiCi O’Brien walks into his office and grabs this bull by the . . . horns (wink). A spark has been ignited in both of them. Kyle embraces it. CiCi does everything, short of calling the fire department, to put it out. Who will prevail? And what will that truly mean to the person who does?

author

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.

Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.

I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn’t reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.

Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it’s my characters and not “the voices” . . . that would be creepy.

A Crash Course Into The Wrecked & Ruined Series by Aly Martinez

Crash Course 3

I will be the first to admit that I am late to the game on a lot of things. Be it a movie, a new band, or every event I’m supposed to attend. I am either the first one there, or the last one to show up.

And unfortunately my same MO of being late to the game applies to books. My kindle is like a bad episode of Hoarders, and my actual never ending book basket weighs as much as I do now. So basically, I own a lot of fantastic and out of this world books that I’ve yet to read.

The Wrecked and Ruined series by Aly Martinez is a prime example of this. And I basically want to punch myself in the face for waiting so long to read these books.

I’m ashamed to admit I let these books sit on my kindle for way too long. Changing Course, has been on there since the last time it snowed. (And I’ll point out the last time it snowed was like 7 months ago.) Stolen Course founds its way on there too soon after, and now Broken Course has been burning a hole on that thing for like 2 weeks.

I finally decided enough was enough and I HAD to read these books.

I knew I was going to love them, but I in no way expected how much I would love and  devour them, how much they would make me feel and think, how much they would pull me into these book’s world and refuse to let me go, or how big a book hangover all three of these exceptional books would give me.

I have one mother effing book hangover right now, but boy do I love that. I wouldn’t trade this feeling for the world, and that folks, is the reason I read books. Getting to feel so emotionally invested with a series and its dynamic characters, and fighting with them through it all is what makes a book exceptional for me.

These books were exceptional. These books were extraordinary. These books blew me away repeatedly with their amazingness.

And phenomenal. And painful as all get out. And sweet. And fun. And HOT. And more emotional than my Thursday nights when Shonda Rhimes emotionally ruins my life with her emotionally driven TV shows. (For the record, the books in this series give Shonda a real run for her money, and I FREAKING LOVED THAT.)

Aly Martinez wrote and so breathtakingly crafted some seriously emotionally driven books, and they are nothing short of magnificent. These books made me feel EVERYTHING, and I cannot rave enough about that.

As you all know I am all about spreading the book love, and the book love for these books needs to be spread immediately. So I decided to write a crash course for y’all on the Wrecked and Ruined Series.

It should be noted now that my crash course will not come close to giving these books the justice they deserve, but take my word for it: you NEED these books in your life. I ain’t kidding either.

So let’s start our crash course into this PHENOMENAL series…

Years ago one fateful night changed it all. It sliced through life as these characters knew it, and it put them all on paths they never expected to find themselves on. Those paths are ones laced with so much emotion they will take your breath away. This series follows all of these unique and thoughtfully crafted characters as they try to make sense of it all, all while trying to figure out where they go from the painful night that changed everything.

18753789“When I’m with you, Jess, everything else is silent. It’s magical. I can’t change anything that’s happened. I can however, try to move forward with my life.”

This is where this unforgettable story begins. It lays the foundation for it all it gives you the even that starts it all. In this book you’ll meet many key players to this series including Brett, Jesse, Sarah, and Caleb. While you meet so many of these phenomenal characters, this book is really about the swoon worthy Brett & Jesse and how they come to be, despite the crazy and pain of the past that’s lurking around the corner.

Synopsis:

I met Sarah Kate Erickson when I was twenty-one years old. I was lucky enough to keep her for seven years before a tragic accident stole her from me. She didn’t die, but sometimes I think it would have been easier if she had.

I lived in a haze for those four years after the accident. Catering to her every need, even though she hated the very sight of my face. I tried to hold on to her and the future that we were supposed to build together. But you can’t hold on to someone that doesn’t exist anymore.

It wasn’t until I met Jesse Addison, a barista at the local coffee shop, that I realized I didn’t just lose Sarah that tragic night, I lost myself as well. Jesse taught me how to let go of the past and learn to love again. But what happens when your past haunts your present and the woman you used to love refuses to accept the woman you can’t live without?

19169739“Our relationship is not simple or straightforward. It’s not perfect the way young couples dream about. It’s rough and flawed, but it’s ours. And sometimes, if you get really lucky, something truly beautiful can come from the imperfections.”

This is where you find out so many more pieces to this magnificent puzzle. You may think you know what happened that night everything changed, but let me tell you now: What you think you know isn’t as it seems, and this book gives you the whole picture. The whole damn extraordinary picture. It also allows you the chance to know and love Caleb & Emma, and let me tell you, those two are pretty darn fantastic.

Synopsis:

I fell in love with Manda Baker eight years ago, and I loved her to the core of her soul. We were supposed to have that elusive happily ever after and spend a lifetime together. But that was all before she was STOLEN from me.

Her best friend, Sarah Erickson, killed her. It wasn’t intentional. It was far worse. Everyone claims it was just an accident, but I can see through the lies. Even if it’s with my dying breath, I will make her pay for what she did.

Fate hates me. It robbed me of my first love and left me to navigate through this world emotionless and numb. Then, one day, spiteful fate gave me a woman to fill my shattered soul and make me feel again. It gave me Emma Jane Erickson. Now I spend my days searching for the answers that will ruin Sarah and my nights falling in love with her sister—the one person who is bound and determined to save her.

But what happens when everything you know to be true explodes around you? Who will be left to pick up the pieces, and who will need to be saved from the wreckage?

AmongtheEchoes_Cover 72dpi_EBook-1“Fuck your fairytale. I just want you. I’ll make my own God damn happily ever after. But you’re the one who is mistaken. You’ll be at the end of that story, beautiful. You either come willingly or you force me into the dark after you. It doesn’t matter to me, because either way, I’ll find you.”

This book was just officially added to The Wrecked and Ruined Series. (This was also the first book I ever read by Aly Martinez, and I loved it!) This book is mainly about Slate & Erica’s love story, which isn’t to be missed, but it’s also where you get to meet the one and only Leo James. Slate & Erica’s love story is just as emotional as all the other books to this series, and I for one couldn’t get enough of either of them!

My name was Dr. Erica Hill. I was a victim, then a witness, and then I ceased to exist altogether.

I may still be breathing, but stripped of my identity, I have long since stopped living. I am invisible, and my life depends on my ability to stay in the shadows.

But he sees me.

Slate Andrews is the embodiment of everything I have been taught to avoid. He’s rich and famous, and one image of him with a woman would earn millions for any paparazzi lucky enough to snap it. He has vowed to protect me with his life, yet he exposes me with his every breath. I should be stronger and walk away. I should disappear. But I’m terrified he would come after me.

I’m on the run, determined not to take him down with me but absolutely unable to let him go.

My name is Riley Peterson…at least for today.

Broken Course

Amazon US | Amazon UK | B&N

Broken eBook“I love you. I love you despite it all, and now, I’m standing here, begging you to love me despite it all too.”

This is Sarah & Leo’s story, and it is one crazy ass ride that you will never forget. This is the culmination of this entire series. This is where it all comes together. Broken Course gives you two majorly flawed characters with some serious pasts between them, but it also gives you one hell of a love story that will leave you in awe while simultaneously taking your breath away.

Seven years ago, my life changed forever. One accident and the person I saw in the mirror no longer resembled the woman I used to be. I was lost and confused inside my own body. I felt alone and disconnected from the world, carrying the incredible weight of guilt and loss that wasn’t even mine to harbor.

Then fate led me to Leo James. He taught me that crazy could be perfectly normal and it shouldn’t hurt to breathe. Don’t get me wrong. Leo isn’t perfect. He has his own cross to bear, and the truth is, that might be why I fell for him in the first place. But despite everything he does for me, learning to forgive myself is infinitely harder than overlooking the flaws of another.

Now, the secrets and lies of our past have begun to dictate our future—threatening to ruin us before we get the chance to try. Perhaps we were cursed from the start. Or maybe, just maybe, the remnants of our fractured lives will fit together to form one whole, where love isn’t questioned and being happy is…well, easy.

Can a second broken soul be enough to fill the voids of my own? Or will such scarred pasts prove too much for our love alone to overcome?

Read My 5 Star Review of Broken Course

(Oh and I dare you to not get chills or tear up when reading the epilogue to this book. I did both simultaneously. That epilogue is the epitome of this series, and let me tell you that I felt so much in that moment, but I can’t tell y’all any of it because you’ve got to read them all to get that extraordinary feeling!)

So I hope you all enjoyed our little crash course to this series. Remember this crash course does not do this series as much justice as it deserves, but I truly do hope you enjoyed it, because I sure as hell did!

Like I said before, I cannot rave enough about this phenomenal series. Each book took gave me an extraordinary reading experience that I will not soon forget. I promise you that you won’t just read and devour these books.

You will feel these books. You will love these books. You will be in awe of these books.

Each one, its characters, and its powerfully emotional stories will envelope you in whole heartedly without a doubt, and you will relish in that.

After finishing these books you will feel a lot of things. You will be sad to see the books end, you’ll feel grateful for the beyond fantastic reading experience, and most of all you’ll just be so effing happy you had the chance to experience the sheer magic within the pages of this book.

You’ll also have a new and immense appreciation for the vegetable report. And let me tell you, that is one damn fine report. (Read these books and you’ll get that.)

So what are you waiting for, drive yourself into this series today, and be sure to check out the incredible Aly Martinez today!!

My Review

***** 5 Beyond Amazing Stars *****

Kathryn Andrews continues to blow me away more and more with her phenomenally crafted writing that is beyond emotionally driven in such a way that is guaranteed to take your breath away from its sheer beauty.

You just don’t read her books. You feel her books.

When reading her first book, Drops of Rain, I was immediately taken in by the unforgettable characters, the highly emotional and feeling events, and their story that I literally could not get enough of. So I have to say I wasn’t surprised in the least to find that Starless Nights blew me away just as much, if not more than Drops of Rain did.

Beau and Leila made my heart hurt, they made it race, and they made it fall head over heels in love with them from the very first pages I met them. Their story is one that I felt and connected with on such a deeply magnificent level, and I cannot even begin to describe to you how much I felt for these exceptional two.

I don’t know if I have the right words to describe how beautiful and emotional and heart tugging this book was, but I am sure as hell going to try, because Kathryn Andrews phenomenal writing, story, and characters deserve that.

What was phenomenal about Starless Nights:

  • The fire and spark of Leila. Leila is such a vibrant, colorful, and fierce female character. She literally lights up the page she’s on, and the spark and determination that she has within herself leaps off the page. She is the color to all the black and white, and you will love her for that unique vibrancy. That girl also feels with all she has, and you will love her for it greatly. All that spirit and tenacity she has will have you understanding her, feeling for her, and loving her instantly. That fire and spark sets her apart in the best and most memorable ways.
  • Charming as all get out Beau. I fell in love with the charming Beau Hale when I met him in Drops of Rain. He won my heart over, again and again, and he never failed to bring a smile to my face. Stepping into his head was beyond thrilling, and it allowed me to just get him and love him more. Beau is so heartwarming, and he’s one of the most engaging character’s you’ll find. His character has so many varying and well developed thoughts and feelings that you’ll want to reach in and care for him and protect him from all the darkness of his world, all while falling under his magical spell that’ll have you loving him immensely. He is a serious gem of a male character.
  • Questions of the past. This book is all about the why, the past, and how things came to be. Kathryn Andrews beautifully and thoughtfully weaves that past into the present tense of Beau and Leila’s story. The more and more you read, the more you find out what led them to their present. With each new chapter you get another piece to the puzzle, and I can’t rave enough about how intricately placed those answers to all those why questions are. Those pieces explain it all, and in the end when you have the whole picture and all the answers, you will just be blown away.
  • The depth of love. Beau and Leila’s feelings for one another are magnificently deep. This is very much a second or third chance romance for them. With each chance they’re given you feel the depth of love and care they have for one another. You feel it in their thoughts, in the way they look at each other, in the inner feelings they have. Even when they make it hard as hell and even when they continue to get it wrong, that depth will have you believing in them with all you’ve got. It’ll have you deeply connecting with them and what they have, and it’ll just exemplify all they share together.
  • The fight for it all. This book is very much about the fight for the happy that both these characters rightfully deserve. This author creates such exceptional ways for these characters to fight for what they want and need. These two go through so much, and the events of this book challenge both Beau and Leila to realize what it is they’re willing to fight for. Reading and experiencing that allows you the chance to understand them and their fight on a whole new level, and it will undoubtedly make you want to fight right along with them for that happy.
  • The passions that make them who they are. Beau has tennis and Leila has designing. They both have such well-developed passions that really illuminate a lot about their characters. These passions brought them both to life, and showed a truly authentic and passionate side to them both. These passions were such an integral part to Beau and Leila, and Kathryn Andrews creates a world and a book where you get to experience those passions right along with them.
  • A seriously emotionally driven book. Kathryn Andrews knows how to write emotions. She knows how to create a world and characters that have you feeling everything they’re feeling. You have the same emotions they’re experiencing, and you just feel it all with them. You will emotionally connect to these characters on a remarkable level, and you’ll fully understand all of their varied emotions. This is an emotionally driven read at its core, and that is what hit this book out of the damn park.
  • The power of evolution. This book allows you the unique chance to see how these characters and their relationship changes over the course of years. You get to see them at multiple distinct times in their lives, and it’s an exceptional opportunity to see exactly how far they’ve come from where they started. This book gives you the chance to fully feel that powerful evolution with Beau and Leila, and their relationships with others. That evolution makes this book what it is, and I am in awe of the evolution Kathryn Andrews takes these characters on. It is simply superb.
  • The supporting characters that envelop you in. This book is bursting with supporting characters that you’ll instantly be taken away with. Drew, Ali, Charlie, Nate, Camille, and everyone else will win over your heart with their unique and very distinct little selves. They bring everything together in such a wonderful way, and they are part of the sheer magic and beauty that is this book. And I promise you’ll love every single second you get to spend with every single one of them.
  • The little things that really are big things. The little things added in so wonderfully to Starless Nights make the whole big picture that much brighter. These little things are incorporated in such subtle and beautiful ways, and they add up to something breathtaking. The star theme that permeates this book in a literally amazing way is beyond beautiful. The fantastic nuances of the characters that you see over and over again truly define their uniqueness. The vivid images and feelings that burst from the page. All of these little things and more combine in such an outstanding way that helps make this book truly unforgettable.
  • The balance of it all. Starless Nights does an outstanding job of balancing every aspect, but especially the different times of moments that so fantastically come to the page. There are moments that will literally pull at your heart while bringing tears to your eyes, moments that will speed up your heart rate, and moments that’ll make your breath catch in an instant because of the level of emotion and vulnerability they contain. Other’s will bring a smile to your face, or a blush to your cheeks in the next instant. While some will have you feeling all the happiness and joy that’ll have you beyond thrilled at the warmth you feel. This book balances all of that exceptionally, and it allows you the chance to wholly experience it all.

Starless Nights was a beyond beautiful and breathtaking book that I absolutely loved reading with everything I had. Kathryn Andrews blew me away yet again with her emotionally driven and thoughtfully crafted words.

I really don’t have enough positive words for this book. This book was so, so very good. And magnificent. And breathtaking. And beautiful. And emotional. And fantastic. And just beyond exceptional.

It was everything. It had everything. It made me feel everything right along with Beau and Leila.

Beau and Leila’s story was everything I wanted it to be, and I couldn’t love those two more. Their story is full of ups and downs, twists and turns, but I guarantee that it’ll take your breath away with all of its magnificence. It’ll also have you knowing and believing in the sheer power and spirit of feeling and love.

This book gets my highest recommendation because it truly has it all. It is an exceptional book, with extraordinary characters, and I for one am completely sold on it all.

And you will be too.

Just a little tease…

Beau - 8yrs old Leila

Excerpt

I push through the saloon doors into café and spot the customer sitting in one of the leather chairs up front by the window. My body reacts before my mind does and I freeze mid step. My heart crashes into my chest, my hands start sweating, and I am certain that my eyes are playing a trick on me. There is no way that of all the cafes in the city, he would walk into mine. It’s just not possible. But there he is looking almost like I remember him.

Ali, my best friend, must have told him that I work here. I’m going to kill her.

Instead of walking over to greet him, I stare at him. It’s been over a year since I’ve seen him and all of a sudden, all that time diminishes and it feels like it was just yesterday. I didn’t even know that he was here in the city. Ali never told me. I had just assumed that he would be coming up sometime later in July. I feel as if my world has just been thrown on a tilt. I wasn’t prepared to see him.

The morning sun hasn’t started to rise yet, so the windows behind him only serve as a dark backdrop, and the light shining down from above him has placed him in a spotlight like glow. If I was a photographer, I feel that this could be a beautiful photo. As it is, I have just taken a mental picture and will now forever see him sitting in that chair.

Years earlier, behind enemy lines.

Long nights, sitting against the wall staring into darkness. We’d shared just about everything to pass the time, to keep from going insane from the monotony combined with the stress of knowing at any time we could be blown up or shot. We were walking targets, and we’d been lucky.

“You’re right,” Derek exhaled, looking away again, out at the expanse of beige. “I’m proud of my service, but when the time comes, I’ll walk away.”

“You’ve got another road ahead of you.” I didn’t think any less of him. Some guys in this outfit didn’t have the right stuff, the right attitude or the honor, but that could never be said of this guy. “I’m glad we served together.”

“Now who’s getting soft?” His deep laugh was the last sound I heard before the staccato CLANK! of a grenade dropped into the space with us.

We had seconds, if that long. No time to speak, only time to act. Reaching down, I grabbed it, and threw it as fast and hard as I could. It was just out the window when the BLAST! threw us both against the wall.

My back had been curved from the throw, and I hit a bare space. I was winded, but not hurt. Derek was out cold. White smoke filled the room. Our luck had run out, and we were under attack.

Shots fired outside as I made my way through the blindness to where his dark body was slumped on the stone floor.

Fuck!” I shouted. He was as big as me and twice as heavy, but I’d be damned if I left him. With a deep grunt, I hauled him onto my shoulders.

His voice was a groan in my ear. “Stuart. Go on. Go.”

“You’re not dying today, soldier,” I shouted back.

Months of working out and not much else between the explosions and the darkness had me strong as a damn mule. I went up the short flight of steps to the exit. I had no idea what I’d be stepping into when I went through that door, but they knew we were in here. We couldn’t stay.

I held Derek steady on my back as I peered into the smoke and dust filling the air. Two bodies in robes right ahead of us. Not Americans. There wasn’t anything we could do for them, but I would do something for us.

A convoy had been preparing to transport the last of us two houses down. If I could make it that far, it was possible we’d be safe. I couldn’t see a damned thing as I made a break for it. My thighs burned with the exertion and the extra weight, and my lungs seized from the smoke. Derek was a fucking dead weight on my back, but I barely noticed with the adrenaline pumping in my veins. I was born for this.

Blinking hard, I could just make out the hulking shapes of the armored trucks waiting to take us away.

“We’re almost there,” I shouted, even though I was pretty sure he was out again.

Taking the first step, I dug in with my heel, trying to gain speed with traction. Combat boots, thirty-seven pounds of weaponry, ordnance, spying shit, and my commanding officer. I ran as fast as I could to the symbol of safety. I was just there when my feet went out from under me. My ears rang with the noise of the explosion, and pain shot like fire through the lower half of my body. I flew forward and landed on my chest in the dirt.

I couldn’t stop shaking. It wasn’t fear—it was adrenaline combined with the effort I’d been pushing to get us to safety faster. My brain tilted on its side. The trucks were near, but they couldn’t see us in all the smoke and confusion. Bodies were running all around us. I needed to get up, but I was dazed.

God dammit! I was made for this. I tried to force myself to get up, but my body didn’t respond. I was above myself looking down. Derek lay on my back exposed, unprotected. What the fuck was happening to me? I fought against this pansy-assed flake-out. I had to get back down there. I had to carry my brother to safety. I was stronger than this.

Somebody had to see us, but the whole place was in confusion. Another whistling rocket, another explosion. I struggled to open my mouth and yell for backup. Nothing came out. I saw a truck jolt and fly back. It was hit.

Then, like an old-fashioned television switching off, everything blinked to black. I didn’t see anything anymore.

 Excerpt

At center stage stands the lead singer, his head down, gripping the microphone. He opens his mouth, and the voice that oozes out of it sends a shiver down my spine. The screeching I heard earlier today is nowhere to be found. His voice is raw, deep, and raspy, its richness soothing. My ears are in love with his voice. I’m captivated, as he begins to sing the first line of the song. My heart pounds in my chest, my breathing accelerates, and I am mesmerized. He continues to sing, and the grittiness of his voice ignites a fire inside me that can’t be contained.

I find myself standing, hollering, and surprising the shit out of Tracy and Val. Hell, I’m surprising myself. The lyrics permeate my brain and float around in my head, turning me to goo. His words of hurt and anger resonate in my soul. It’s as if what he’s singing, he’s feeling and has lived. My heart aches in my chest for him if there is any truth behind his words. I finally notice the two enormous Jumbotron-like TV screens on either side of the stage. The camera focuses on him and he stares directly into the lens. His steel-blue eyes smolder and captivate me. I feel like I am under his spell.

It goes on like this through the entire concert. Each song he sings I’m entranced by him, unable to break the chains that his voice and eyes bind me with. Finally the lights go out, the music stops, and I am no longer spellbound—a sense of loss fills me.

Just a little tease…
